You’re not hallucinating. Sissal has won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025.

Sissal, a firm fan favourite ahead of the contest, delivered non-stop power in a glittering outfit as she brought down the house inside the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning.

She had to battle against seven other acts — and battle she did by belting out the big notes and showing a lot of leg. It was a masterclass in confidence that saw her through to the superfinal against Adel the Second (“The Unluckiest Boy Alive”) and Tim Schou (“Proud”) .

Result of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025

First round:

Mariya – “I Belong To Me” (out)

Tim Schou – “Proud” (super final)

Max Ulver – “Supernova” (out)

Hervé Toure – “ALLEZ ALLEZ” (out)

Maria Mathea – “Air” (out)

Adel the Second – “The Unluckiest Boy Alive” (super final)

Sissal – “Hallucination” (super final)

Andreas Kruse – “Hear My Prayer” out

Super final:

  1. Sissal – “Hallucination” – 38 points (jury 20, public 18)
  2. Tim Schou – “Proud – 37 points (jury 14, public 23)
  3. Adel the Second – “The Unluckiest Boy Alive” – 25 points (jury 16, public 9)

Format of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2025

The Danish public were able to vote on the DMGP app over the past week, one time per entry. Tonight the public got a new opportunity to vote at the beginning of the show.

Three songs went through to the Super Final round, based on the votes from both the public vote and the jury vote. Each vote accounts for 50% of the total vote. The jury consisted of 10 Danish Eurovision fans and 10 international experts from 10 different countries — including our very own Denmark editor Simon Falk.

A new round of voting opened for the Super Final, where the winner was determined once again by 50% public vote and 50% jury vote.

Who was your favourite in Denmark tonight? Can Sissal get Denmark back into the grand final in Eurovision? Let us know in the comments below.

I really like this. The song is a banger and i dont mind being a bit outdated, its cool. And Sissal is lifting the song to a higher level. Im sure the viewers will appreciate her strong voice. This will qualify! Im quite sure. Yes, im also not a big fan of her outfit. This song needs something flowy

I just watched an interview with Sissal. Here she commented on the comments about her outfit. She always wants to see if things need to be changed, but overall she was happy with how she looked. She felt confident and took great care to represent others who also look like her. I think this is a really cool message. She stand by who she is and how she look. She is amazing. She also confirmed that she wants to change the staging, as wind machines are cool, but its not a “wow” factor in Eurovision. She is not good at… Read more »

Due to the tight deadline, DR will not make any radical changes to Sissal’s stage show.

“The starting point is that we keep the performance we have seen in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, but beef it up so that it fits Eurovision” says Erik Struve Hansen.

“We can’t come up with something completely new in one week, but we can give it even more muscle so that it fits into Eurovision and the huge stage they have built in Switzerland. If the scale is ten, then we have to go up to 12.”

I’m not entirely sure, but apparently there is a deadline for the countries to send their staging to the EBU in 1 week? At least that’s what Erik Struve says in that article.

I thought Adel the Second had a lot of Eurovision potential in his song. That being said, I do like this and it’s got a LOT of potential. Great great vocals! ESC Scoreboard has this as 12th currently so this is really good by Denmark’s standards and actually, quite a lot of people have this as their favourite! If Denmark can get to the final, BIG jury potential as well as moderate televote potential – this could actually do really well! It certainly would have won a decade ago!

Why is everyone talking about her outfit? Its not THAT bad. She looks amazing.

I also see a lot of old people in Denmark commenting on it, but I know why they talk about it, which is disgusting. I hope Its not because of that eurofans are talking about it….

The song is OK, but I liked Sand more. but more importantly, as a vocal fashion and costume nerd here, without shade. She needs a new stylist, asap. She needs a cute, floaty chiffon dress, pumps and a more voluminous hair style, stat.

Sissal’s song has an immediate impact with its catchy chorus, upbeat tempo, and strong vocals.
While there’s nothing particularly new about the song, it shows potential to qualify and make it to the final. Sissal is clearly the asset in that song and her team will need to work on the staging to emphasize her talent and elevate the song. Last night, my favourite was Adel the Second, whose staging stood out as simple, smart, and effective but I understand why Hallucination won. Good luck Sissal!

Disappointing that we’ve yet another generic pop song added to the already very long list of disappointing songs this year. Sissal can certainly sing but unless there are significant changes to the staging / styling I can’t see this standing out.

Typical of Denmark: selecting the most basic pop song. In a normal edition this wouldn’t qualify.

Adel The Second was far more interesting and entertaining. Tim Schou would have been good too.

I can see this surprising slot of people.

It’s a decent song with strong vocals but the staging and styling definitely need work.

I reckon this one will qualify and likely end up left side of the scoreboard in the final too. (possibly even cracking top 10 if staged right)

In such a weak year that is 2025, Sissal shouldn’t have any problem to qualify and make Denmark come back to the final for the first time since 2019.
Still waiting for the winner of Eurovision though… at this point I honestly don’t see any challenger for Sweden if they send KAJ (fingers crossed) or Mans (yeah, sorry for those who don’t like him but he sure can perform).

I’m glad Sissal won this, since “Hallucination” was the best option imo, in a decent year for DMGP. Enjoyable, memorable and well-performed, it definitely deserves a place in the final (and has already won a place in my playlist). Best of luck Denmark!

First, kudos to DR. DMGP this year was 100X better than the last couple of years (production, flow AND songs). Sissal’s win was fair! She nailed the vocals. Staging can be improved but she has a winning vibe (in general, not for ESC), she lives her dream and I have a feeling she will take Denmark to the final. The other two songs did also justice. Tim Schous’s song would also do well in ESC. And Adel was a revelation, if there was no Sissal, Adel would have won. Interesting song, catchy, happy vibes, and interesting staging. Held og lykke,… Read more »

It’s not points (if I am not mistaken). It’s the overall % of total votes (jury and televote). So Sissal won with 38% of total votes. That’s a weird point and winner revelation for sure. Men, det er Danmark og vi elsker DK!

Can someone explain the vote split? It was bit anticlimactic and weird. Was the first part the jury and the second the televote?
Anyways I would’ve been happy with any of the three but I preferred Adel, he was the only one bringing something truly distinct and modern. Sissal is a powerhouse tho, deserving winner.
