I hope all Mellolovers get a great night wherever you are
Stop worrying about fan outrage and what fans think, just vote for what we like and whatever happens in Basel, happens. Don’t forget Mello and ESC is about joy and music

Same to you, Denis!

I am heading out now, and sadly won’t be joining all you beautiful Wiwi-ers for the live discussion. No doubt you will all be very upset over this, but please don’t let it ruin your evening… 🙂

They can send Zelmerlöv free just seeing, if juries still licking him now there’s others like Austria hopefully steal points of them.

My favorites are Scarlet or Klara but once again, Sweden will make the wrong choice. I don’t understand the hate on women that are not Loreen on this show.

The Mans revolution is considered the worst thing imaginable in music while KAJ are hailed as saviors and super fresh whatever, while the sauna song’s also got 6 songwriters involved, including the ever-present Wrethov… Some nuance for the eurofans, if you don’t mind.

3 of those 6 song writes is KAJ. There must be a Swedish person in the song writing team. Someone from Mello production asked KAJ to take part and probably suggested them to contact Werthov. As far as I know, KAJ doesn’t have any connections to Swedish song writers before this.

KAJ wrote the original demo and Werthov then mellofied it and actually added the Finnish words.

It’s a bit disingenuous to say ‘6 songwriters involved’ when half of them are KAJ themselves, both it and revolution are 3 songwriters + the performing artist.

The point is that KAJ are also polished and formulaic, just a slightly different branding that eurofans prefer (with a more memorable chorus compared to the competition also tbh)

I’ve been following this year’s Melodifestivalen each week & I would totally agree with the finalists, I would love KAJ to go to Eurovision, singing in Swedish with fantastic staging , would be so cool for a change. My top 5 would be, KAJ, Erik Segerstedt, Greczula, Scarlet & Mans Zelmerlow. It’ll probably be another Swedish/Finnish entry going for the win again this year, just shows the talent at the top of Europe.

Even if swedes vote for Kaj to win it will be the international jury that will give Mans the win.

I actually think the juries should not be putting Mans first – yes its a good performance and yes he is a good singer but the song is too much of a carbon copy of Heroes for me personally that would push him down to about third.

Can we dare hope?

On the other hand, if the predictable result comess to pass, we’ll get to see Måns’ face when he receives about at many televotes in ESC final as John Lundvik or Benjamin Ingrosso did.

Hopes and jokes aside, I do believe that KAJ can win the televote in May. I see no other song with this potential yet, while there are several jury magnets this year.

Predictable Swedes will once again choose an alternative of Robin Bengtsson, Robin Stjernberg, Benjamin Ingrosso, Tusse, John Lundvik etc.

Worst Melodifestivalen I’ve had to witness, you could throw most of the songs in this final into trash right away.

I do still think it will be Måns. Even with televote support. Because Swedes votes on what will do best at ESC. And I think he will get the most widespread support among all groups, maybe not the highest in all but high from every group
So I don’t think it’s as close as people believe it is..
That said, every act is good and would be a worthy winner

Not sure if KAJ can get the support that is needed. We know they have the Spotify and the young. But the non Spotify? The elders? The radio listeners,? In Sweden radio is still popular and much more used than Spotify. And KAJ has not been doing well at radioplay. .

Seeing KAJ win would be the perfect riposte to all the Sweden haters who say that Sweden only produces polished slick manufactured pop. The irony that it has taken a group of Finns to get the Swedes anywhere close to sending a song in the Swedish language for decades.

if this is selected tonight, it will win Eurovision. If Mans is chosen. I don’t think he will win. He doesn’t have the overall love there was for Loreen.

It’s strange really, because Swedes love to listen to these type of songs outside of the competition. Like Hooja for example. It’s not just a Finnish phenomenon. This is just a different packaging.

We don’t hate Sweden, we just BEG for something out of the box for once, sending older winners just to grab votes due to past popularity seems like a petty move to me. It unfortunately worked once, hopefully it won’t work again. Bara Bada Bastu, assuming KAJ will win, will be my 2nd place behind Austria. I’m not joking, I love that song and it would be a very pleasant surprise.

Loreen was not sent just to grab votes, or because of past popularity… she was sent because Tattoo was by far the best entry in Melodifrstivalen 2023. 500 million streams on Spotify don’t come based on nothing.

This is a new era for the contest and as a ESC and Mello fan this makes me sad , so sad. They even won the audience poll at the rehearsal which is usually a good indication of the general audience mood. And I hope the international jury has at least a bit of overlap with the international audience, so that KAJ might sweep it all.

Juries do not know or care about fans, why should they?

Jonas

They do, because Mello juries ARE fans. They’re not like the juries in May who are music industry types, they’re just a group of anonymous people assembled by the local HoD as a favour.

Their job is to judge which act will do best in ESC. Most of them hear the songs for the first time in final. They do not know about who the fans want and why should they?

Well obviously it’s not fans. It’s not random selected unknown people. They say at the beginning the juries consist of people who work with music, just like in ESC. It’s not fans. It’s musicians, dj, radio bosses. This year for instance one of the Swiss hosts are part of the jury. Princ from Serbia is another one

No, I’m fairly sure they are just the spokespeople we see on TV. They’re not on the actual jury. The French spokesperson this year is the French HoD, it would be total conflict of interest to have her be a juror. Same with Princ.

They just read out the scores, they don’t decide them.

Denis

But sometimes they are on the jury. Tooji in 2012 was part of the jury. In 2023 Croatia revealed their jury members and their HoD was jury president. And the spokesperson was also jury member.
Sometimes the countries reveal who is on the jury

They don’t reveal their names. All we know there are 8 countries as usual with 5 people in each group that work with music. And they’re job is to find the most competative entry that can make the biggest impression on an european public.

Eurovision does not really need Kaj or Mans. But Sweden needs Kaj to win to shift the mood and have a new perspective after more than a decade of Sweden producing the same thing over and over again. Many don’t like Sweden not because it’s bad. On the contrary, it’s very good but sometimes in a bad way. Sterile.
I have said it even before. I love candy, but I cannot eat it every day for breakfast lunch and dinner for 15 days straight.
Having said that, either Mans or Kaj is top 5 in Eurovision.

Sweden actually has a lot of good options this year. As much as I want Klara to win and go to ESC, since she’s my favorite and because I think she deserves it, KAJ is the one that will do the best for Sweden. It could win the televote.

Surprisingly, I’m enjoying 3 songs in this final – Måns’, Klara’s and Maja’s. Would’ve been more if 24K, I’m Yours or Funniest Thing had made it. I only checked the performances of my two favorite songs and I never thought I’d say this, but I’d like to see Måns back at Eurovision. Due to Klara’s weak vocals, the song suffers live while Måns’ comes alive. It’s a good song and the strong whirlwind finish is glorious. So are the tempo changes of “On and on and on” but those vocals are not. Måns is so clearly the best, he earned… Read more »

The KAJ hysteria is real in Sweden. Now they have put lasers in the show. And it’s quite insane. I think the only ones who can destroy it is the juries. And perhaps the older age groups in the televote. I’m torned with it. But I don’t mind sending those boys. If we could get a descent televote instead 😀 Even Måns thinks KAJ will win. But for me it feels like selling out one thing against another. But good luck to both of them. And all the finalists. This will be very exciting.
