MONA made national headlines in Bulgaria when she got her first taste of Eurovision by performing at the Wiwi Jam in Basel. And now it seems like that performance foretold great things to come, as she is officially a contender to sing for Bulgaria on its return to Eurovision 2026 in Vienna.
Speaking with our Cinan before Bulgaria’s return was publicly confirmed, MONA made it clear that she is ready to seize the moment.
“I feel like I’m ready to represent Bulgaria and I will be so happy,” she told us at a Sofia coffee shop appropriately named Café Vienna. “I think that to create something meaningful, you have to stand on a strong foundation and for me my my foundation is our past, our folklore. You also have to bring in the energy from the present and the modern world, the sound.”
“I’m sure that I want to represent Bulgaria with all of my power. I think with what I carry in my voice and in my soul it can happen. We are manifesting. We’re inviting good things into our lives.”
MONA has a great deal of momentum behind her. Earlier this month she was named “Woman of the Year” by Grazia Bulgaria in the music category. It’s after she topped the charts with her song “Male”. At the time she made it clear that she wants to celebrate her country and her personal philosophy on self-empowerment.
“Today I feel that I am ready to convey not only to Bulgaria, but also to the world, the message in which I believe most strongly: that each of us carries the living force within ourselves. Be and make it happen.”
Grazia isn’t her only fan. Responding to our Instagram Reel teasing her desire to sing at ESC, Eurovision 2017 runner-up Kristian Kotov wrote: “Mona is everything.”
You can watch our FULL interview with MONA in Sofia later tonight on the Wiwibloggs YouTube channel.

My wish is DARA! A true pop diva!
But if they want to send folklore – Mia D. (backing vocals – Bulgaria 2018) should represent Bulgaria!
