Yesterday evening we grabbed a front-row see at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016 semi-final. Fourteen out of 19 acts made it through, including Eurovision veteran Ira Losco. She sang two songs — “Chameleon” and “That’s Why I Love You” — but owing to rules that only let her top song advance, she’ll just be singing “Chameleon” ce soir. We were lucky to get her first reaction just after the press conference. She’s one of the warmest divas we’ve ever met.
Back in 2002, Ira came second at Eurovision with “7th Wonder”. When asked if her legacy is enough to push her to a win tonight, she’s staying modest and humble: “It’s up to the public to send the best representative of Malta … I will try my very best!”
She knows she needs her strength for the finale, so told us she was not going out to party. “I will go home and sleep, not party even if I would like to,” she said. “In the morning we have our rehearsal and we have to be there really early so no party tonight at least!”
I don’t really think they will qualify with this boring song…… They need to send Christabelle if they want to do well.
As a Maltese citizen, I do believe in Ira’s song. A stronger arrangement and performance will make it a perfect fit for the Eurovision stage. At the same time I wouldn’t mind to see a new face representing Malta.
As a Maltese, I m very surprised by how good Patrick’s Maltese english accent is. He can easily pass as a native Maltese 🙂
I am still unsure who I want to win tonight….have 5 favourites (Brooke, Corazon, Ira, Christabelle, Jasmine) and to be frank, televoting has such a small percentage on the overall result that I am nit encouraged to vote.
Good interview. Ira is great person. Just sometimes this boy annoyed me 😀
oh, come on guys! who cares about his accent? he has a really good english level, that´s what matters, hahahhah #LoveAndPeace
as William says, he is a chameleon, he absorbs the accents tha he is surrounded by, it happens to me too hhahaha, I had american accent, but after I came back from Ireland I realised that I have irish accent (wich I adore)
Lol the interviewer’s accent is so fake. Ira has to win to right, she has the best song, maybe not the best voice, but it is a song contest.
