He’s the former front man of A Friend In London who, in the past year, has toured Germany, written a Melodifestivalen entry and spent time honing his craft in Los Angeles.
And somehow, amid all of that, Tim Schou also found time to shoot a music video for his latest single “Young Vince” in Ghana.
“Young Vince” is an easy listening number that swells with a memorable chorus. Built around the piano and Tim’s stirring vocal, it relies less on production and more on Tim’s sincere and emotional delivery. The inspirational lyrics apply to a number of guises — most notably the fact we all come into the world free of hate and full of hope and love. “Vince” doesn’t refer to one specific person. He embodies all of us — past, present and future.
Visually Tim gives this a very touching treatment. We see him playing with young children in Ghana — singing, dancing, beating on drums, reading stories and generally celebrating the simple pleasures we all take for granted. Their enthusiasm and vigour in what many would consider a difficult setting gives plenty of pause for reflection.
Speaking exclusively to wiwibloggs, Schou explains:
“The true story is that I met ‘Vincent’ the newest member of the Hitimpulse family. This German music-led family have produced some of the industry greats like Usher, Ellie Goulding and Zara Larrson.
“Vincent stood out because he was young, smart and innocent looking. I’ve always wanted to write a song in the likes of that old song ‘Vincent (Starry Starry Night)’, but Vincent sent me straight back to being young, excitable and having the power to be anything you want to be. He reminded me that when we are born, we bring all kinds of hope with us to the world. Growing up changes one’s vision of the perfect world.”
“So, I went home after my encounter with Vincent, and jotted my inspiration in lyric form. For me Vincent represents hope, youth and innocence. We are in much need of that, especially these days, and I hope that my fans connect with the message.”
