It’s nearing September which means the new series of The X Factor UK is just around the corner. And with it comes something that is becoming a new tradition: the appearance of former Eurovision acts. This time it’s the turn of the Romanian countertenor Cezar Ouatu.
He made his mark at Eurovision 2013, where he performed “It’s My Life”, which showed off his soaringly high vocal range.
Cezar shared the X Factor news with his fans on Facebook. In a post, he wrote “Guys, “I am so haaapppy! Officially, my new musical life challenge starts on September 1st! Do you see me? Stay tuned and enjoy! #TheXFactor #SimonCowell” He linked to a promo video of the new series.

Among the clips of the colourful auditionees and new judge Robbie Williams, Cezar can be seen looking very different from the flamboyant “camp Dracula” style he brought to Eurovision 2013.
The Cezar of 2018 is looking cool dressed in black, including a leather jacket, accessorised with glasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
The brief shot of his audition if followed by a reaction of pop icon Robbie Williams in his new role at the judges’ table. He has a look of wide-eyed, slack-jawed wonder. We’re not sure he was reacting to Cezar’s performance, but Robbie’s reaction is not unlike how many of us were left feeling at Eurovision 2013.
Cezar is not the only former Eurovision star to take a chance with The X Factor UK this year.
Earlier in the month, we reported that former HomeTown boyband member and Ireland’s Eurovision 2017 singer Brendan Murray had made it through the Six Chair Challenge round and would be battling it out at Judges Houses.
Also doing well in the audition process was Junior Eurovision 2013 winner Gaia Cauchi. The young Maltese singer reportedly did not make it as a solo performer, but in X Factor tradition, she has reportedly been put in a girl group with other solo singers.
The 15th series of The X Factor UK starts this Saturday, 1 September. We will have full coverage of the Eurovision acts as they aim to be the next Saara Aalto or Rylan Clark.

UKis well known of all cultural performance that are rolling in London moustly. If London is not reaty for Cezar, then I think this could be the end of the story. Am excellent performance, that is not easy to understand, just for the specialists, and lovers. So by performimg on X Factor stage could push his career way forward. Good for him. He is a real talent. I belive in you Cezar! Make them cry! 😉

Dont you think new talents dont have a chance no more in X factor? I mean this, Saara Alto, Brendan Murray and others. I know they said it is for everyone and i dont like that. Of course if you are new you will get run over with people who have 10 years of professional singing

I am sorry but this is just stupid. He represented a country in Eurovision and got 13th place in the final. I mean that’s amazing for a singer. If that wasn’t a boost for his career then why does he think that he can do anything after X Factor.
I watched all Saara Aalto performances on YouTube and that’s why I became a huge fan of the X Factor UK. Louis, Sharon, Nicole and Simon were a great jury and I hope that this year will be as strong as Saara’s. I will watch it from Germany and I wish all readers from the UK and especially William and Deban a great X Factor Series 2018!!! <3
I think it’s weird to see former eurovision stars competing in casting shows after their eurovision apperance. They should’ve showcased their talent already when they had the chance to perform to an audience of 200 million people. what do they want more?

I feel like Saara started a trend of ESC artists appearing on the X Factor, we had Slavko last year and now Gaia (Malta JESC 2013), Brendan Murray and Cezar auditioning this year
Unfortunately, success in one doesn’t equate to success in the other show… 🙁
Differnce was thata Saara was still a national finalist and Eurovision was not her main prioeiry until after her time in X Factor.
