The word on everybody’s lips is Efentix.
During Eurovision 2021, Azerbaijan’s Efendi and Norway’s TIX enjoyed their first date over socially-distanced drinks in a Rotterdam restaurant. And now it seems that their relationship is blossoming into something beautiful.
In a post-Eurovision interview with Sputnik Azerbaijan, the “Mata Hari” songstress spoke about the future of the pair’s relationship.
She revealed that if necessary, she will move to Norway to be with TIX… and also teased the potential of wedding bells!
Meanwhile, the “Fallen Angel” hitmaker is planning a visit to Azerbaijan where he will meet Efendi’s parents and try the local cuisine. As he told us on the turquoise carpet, he’s been diving into Wikipedia to learn more about Azerbaijani customs.

Efentix: Efendi and TIX plan to reunite
Speaking to Sputnik Azerbaijan, Efendi retold the story of how Efentix came to be.
“To be honest, at first I was not serious about the attention of the Norwegian representative Tix. I didn’t understand what was happening. I went to Eurovision to win, not to meet someone.
I went there with completely different thoughts, but received a gift from fate. After the end of Eurovision, I found out that even before the start of the competition, he filmed various videos in Norway that were addressed to me. I did not know about it.”
I invited him to Baku, and he himself wanted to come to meet my parents. I don’t know if I will marry him. It all depends on the offer. When we parted, he put a gold bracelet on my arm and said: ‘wait for me and do not forget about me’.
We talk almost every day. I am a little worried, because the number of people infected with coronavirus is increasing every day. We communicate, inspire and support each other. If I get married, I’ll probably move to Norway. Where the husband is, there I am.
He really wants to fly to Baku, but he cannot do it. Their borders are closed. We will wait for the end of all this, or, as a last resort, we will intersect somewhere on neutral territory.”

While reuniting may prove difficult in light of ongoing coronavirus travel restrictions, the pair are ready to take their relationship to the next level. Efendi is grateful that her parents understand the power of her burgeoning romance.
“Mom thinks that it would be better to support me than to forbid me. The forbidden fruit is always sweet, so you can make the wrong choice or go down the wrong path. Thanks to my parents that they are always with me and support me in any of my choices.
If necessary, I will move to Norway. It seems to me that in this life, if you want to achieve something, then you cannot do without difficulties, therefore I am ready for any obstacles. In my life I went through many difficulties and difficulties.
I have never been to Norway. I really want to see the northern lights there. It’s very beautiful there. I saw it all in the pictures and videos that Andreas sends me. He is now studying our culture, and I – theirs.”
Efendi says she wants to introduce TIX to Azerbaijani food and make him try some of the local delicacies including dolma, shabzi pilaf and dushbara. And while the couple get to know each other better, they’ll take a tour of Baku.
“First of all, I will show him Icherisheher, then Baku Crystal Hall, which hosted Eurovision in 2012. We will also definitely walk along Baku Boulevard and visit Gabala and Sheki.
I hope we will be able to do it all without cameras and press.”
We’re excited to see what the future holds for this iconic duo. Could a Eurovision wedding be on the cards?
Efentix: The love story of Efendi and TIX
This Eurovision power couple is more than just a showmance.
The Efentix saga started coming to light during a wiwibloggs’ interview with the Norwegian star. Mid-interview, Efendi took to the stage for her first rehearsal of “Mata Hari”. TIX — real name Andres Haukeland — looked up in awe to sing along, telling our William he’s “totally crushing” on Efendi.
A few days later, the pair had their very first date over drinks between Eurovision rehearsals inside a restaurant in Rotterdam Ahoy.
Wiwibloggs’ own Suzanne Adams — who is known to peer around corners and to keep her ears to the ground — snapped the very first pic of Efentix on their date (with their translator at an adjacent table).

And now, it seems things are getting serious between the two Eurovision 2021 stars. Perhaps we’ll see a Eurovision marriage at some point in the future… or maybe the pair will compete at Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix as a couple!
What do you think? Will the Efentix romance last? Let us know in the comments down below.

I take my words back, she never said anything like that! To all the journalists’ questions about moving to Norway, she answered “I don’t know. You need to ask him.” So thanks to the journalists who again made up nonsense, putting a person in a bad light.
She meant: If he proposes to me, I will go to Norway.
Guys you should watch the video with this interview! I changed my mind when saw how she talks about him, her emotions, she’s sincere and her eyes are glowing when she speaks about him! It feels like real love! In the text we couldn’t see her emotions and some details were deleted in the text, +some problems with translation made misunderstanding
Strange she can’t speak English at her age
I’m not an Efendi fan but I’m sure her English is still far better than your Russian or Azeri.
The bracelet is from Tiffany’s with the pricetag of 2100.00 dollars. Who gives those kinds of things to people they hardly know?
Something became very strange in this story. I don’t know what Tix’s intentions are, either it was only the show, or he is a gentleman and therefore doesn’t talk about Efendi to the press since he came home. And she is bubbling about the things that, if they were serious, should stay between only the two of them. It’s not that I don’t like her, I want Efentix to be real, but I don’t like Efendi’s behaviour. She acts like a girl very much in love, that is cute, but she is a grown woman, and they are both famous.… Read more »
Yesterday Efendi participated in the program and the hosts started asking her about Tix and she said that she didn’t want to talk about it because she had already said a lot about this. But the host made her tell something. The host said: it’s your was time being in our program after Eurovision so we want to hear it from you.
Totally agree!
Tix is really acting like a gentleman. He has already achieved Efendi, why shout about it further? And she just answers the questions of journalists. She’s in love, why shouldn’t she act like a girl in love? On the contrary, if there were no serious intentions, then she would not have said all this and would not have behaved this way. Have you seen her eyes at the interview? Her eyes are shining! She made herself a manicure with wings and the letter A. She constantly says that he studies a lot of information about the Azerbaijani culture. Why does… Read more »
She can’t even speak English… c’mon!
Of course Efendi would move to Norway, TIX is crazy popular there and one of the most successful songwriters/producers.
However, she won’t like the Norwegian culture.
Anyway, i don’t think it will last but it’s cute.
In Russian, the word “predlozheniye” can be translated as 1) offer 2) proposal of marriage. And in this context, she talks about getting married. Her move to Norway depends on his proposal to get married. If they get married, she will move to Norway. And in the following sentence, she emphasizes his intention to propose to her by giving her a gold bracelet. He shows her with this gesture or gift that his intentions are serious. This is how a wrong translation can represent a person as a gold digger. Before posting the article, It would be better to ask… Read more »
The fact that your message has so much minuses says a lot about how stupid people are.
If they’re not in love my heart would be broken! I hope everything she said is truth, but.. idk it still doesn’t feel like she takes it seriously
They are so cute together. I wish them a lucky life in Norway or in Baku. And I hope they can meat each other soon.
Seems like Efendi is just using TIX for money and fame.
TIX started this.
I know, he most likely is attracted to her and hoping for a relationship, but Efendi isn’t into him and now only thinks that if she’d be with him, she could advance her career since TIX is famous in Norway and has the connections in music business.
There is no way for you to know that.
I meant “I know” as I know that TIX started this, as I was agreeing with you, not that I know how they themselves feel for each other.
Oh I see why my message could be misunderstood, I was meant to write “I know.” with a dot.
How can you know what she thinks, feels? Her eyes are shining, she becomes sad when she says that he cannot leave the country because of the quarantine, she touches the bracelet all the time when she talks about him, she is so in love that it is noticeable to the blind.
Yes and at first Efendi cringed sooo much but when she realised she could milk that as a love story she changed her mind, that’s how I interpret this…
And I thought she, like any girl in a similar situation, especially an Azerbaijani, was embarrassed and did not understand what was happening (as she herself said). You, of course, know better.
Why did you click on it in the first place?
I have some gold too in my safe …..does that mean that I have a chance to marry Efendi? ….she seems to be a “material girl” – LOL
Efendi has no inconvenience to leave her homeland, where she is loved and appreciated enough. Nevertheless, in Azerbaijan they sincerely wish good luck to this couple!
The “material” person are you and those who put pluses on your comment. You don’t even know what was really discussed in the interview, but you already think that you understood everything. She doesn’t need your gold. And in general, she doesn’t need anyone except Andreas.
They are cute together. If their relationship is real and this is not made up for publicity or something like that, I wish them good luck.
This wiwibloggs article only contains parts of the actual interview and once u read the whole interview it puts the norway comment into a lot more perspective. She is talking about taking it slow first. Some things may still be lost in translation like the ‘offer’ comment. Here’s the actual interview/article
https://media.az/showbiz/1067820702/nezhdannaya-lyubov-samiry-efendi-pevica-gotova-vyyti-zamuzh-i-pereehat-v-norvegiyu/
Disappointed I had no use of my knowledge in Turkish languages here :-/
What? What does the Turkish language have to do with it? Do you not distinguish Turkish languages from others? This is the Russian language in which the interview was done. If you don’t understand it, how can you think that you understand her intentions?
This is so cute, I wish both of them nothing but the absolute best! <3
Yeah downvote me for shipping a relationship, seems fair
there are a lot of toxic ppl unfortunately. I got downvoted for providing the link to the full interview which provides context to Efendi’s comments and proves the hateful comments in this section wrong. Toxic ppl dont like being proven wrong lol
Yeah dude it’s kinda unfair how people saying “It’s all fake” get a million upvotes and people saying “best of luck with your relationship” get downvoted… Not that I rly care I just wanna give my opinion the rest can do whatever they want lol
That would change from the 12 points respectively to Sweden and Russia.
And finally 12 points from Norway goes to … Azerbaijan !
And finally 12 points from Azerbaijan goes to….. Norway !
Its already lasted longer than I anticipated
No surprises here: two rich people doing business
Either her interview was horribly translated or she’s as entitled, obnoxious and ignorant as this interview sounds. “It depends on the offer?” “I went to Eurovision to win?” Girl, please.
I don’t see what’s wrong with those statements? They haven’t been together long and a lot of cultures follow specific rituals for suggesting marriage, plus literally every contestant goes to eurovision with hopes of winning. It’s pretty rude to make assumptions about a woman for saying what anyone else would say.
What is wrong with the sentence “I went to Eurovision to win”. You may didn’t like her song, or thought that it could not win, that’s completely fine, but what is wrong about her going to Eurovision with the aim to win?
In the context of everything else she said, it came across as obnoxious and arrogant especially considering the fact that she got the third worst result for Azerbaijan in the contest and there were 19 artists who apparently had a better shot than her for a victory.
“It all depends on the offer. When we parted, he put a gold bracelet on my arm..”
GOLD DIGGER ALERT!
First, learn the Russian language in which the interview was made, and then yell something. You didn’t even think about the fact that the interview was translated incorrectly.
I can’t believe this is apparently legit. It sounds more like a fanfiction someone wrote. Rivals to fake dating to lovers lmao
Wait… So this IS a thing? I never took them seriously because I thought they kinda manufactured the relationship to fish for votes lol. Good for them, I guess. I ship!
love at first translation
I doubt that what Andreas was doing when he first watched her video was translation.
But would it be fair, if he kept her down here? Lol. In all seriousness, totally cute couple and story, but marriage talk already? I know some cultures treat marriage differently, but it seems hugely fast to be talking about that so soon.
TBF I thought TIX was the overly intense one in this whole thing, to the point it made me cringe sometimes…but maybe they’re both over the top and extra? This could just be how they roll lol.
Maybe this is that love when you are ready to get married on the very first day of meeting.
no you don’t understand, efentix working out would singlehandedly provide me with a lifetime’s worth of serotonin <333 also like can the comments chill WOULD IT HURT YOU TO BELIEVE IN TRUE LOVE GODDAMMIT
It’s hard to believe in true love when the info -with photo- is posted on a social network before they’ve even started the first drink of their first date.
Bah … If it’s true, so much the better for them, if it’s a marketing idea, so much the better for their managers, but in any case, as a famous group of comedians said in France in the one of their sketches: “ça ne nous regarde pas”.
“I will marry him if he makes a good offer” and then proceeds to talk about the gold bracelet hahah
It is precisely such thoughts that an incorrect translation can generate, especially if you have not seen with your own eyes how it went on in an interview.
Wait what? This was real?! I thought it was just a publicity thing
It probably was publicity, (and lets remember how the Azeri public gave 10 points to TIX because they are very active on YouTube and they are commenting like crazy in every video about them) but maybe they started to like each other and continue with the flow
Awwwww… pero qué historia más tierna!!!!
La verdad me hace volver a creer en el amor jaja <3
OMG!!! I’m so very happy for them. They’re so cute and adorable together. Loooove this!!!!
Yikes
Have you just looked at yourself in the mirror?
Why was this downvoted
An empty arena as a first date location.. Groundbreaking.
“Is it true ?” as Yohanna would say, lmao’
Well, if that isn’t the cutest Eurovision news I’ve read. I hope they do get together and will be happy.
Sad news: Verka Serduchka (every true eurofan knows him) developed a serious illness and I think he’s still in the hospital. Fortunately, things look good and he’ll be out soon, at least I hope so…
Oh man, not Verka … :–(
Best wishes to Verka
Verka Serduchka is a fictional character. Andriy Danylko is the real person.
Yes but if I said “Andriy Dalynko is sick” everyone would be like “who’s that?”
It took me two short sentences to explain it, but okay.
The negativity in this comment section makes me sick! I wonder if you would be thinking in the same way if she is from a Nordic or Western European country! She indicated multiple times that she worked so hard for a VERY long time to become a contestant at Eurovision and that she came to Rotterdam to become a champion. Please remember that she was not the one who started it in the first place. As a person who understands Azeri Turkish, I saw her confusion and sincerity when TIX was asked by the reporters. Besides, why it is so… Read more »
She will need to learn at least English.
I’m surprised by the attitute ESC fans have towards Efendi. If an artist from Russia or another country said those racist things it would have definitely recieved much more blackash. It’s kinda unfair.
She was getting quite a bit of backlash until the TIX/Efendi ship distracted the fandom. That’s probably why her team agreed to play along.
Yes, I completely agree with you
This has been so sweet to watch unfold, I’m hoping they can have their privacy now and just enjoy the relationship. Wishing these two the best
TIX has connections in music business and Efendi is hungry for being a famous singer.
Sadly that nationalism doesn’t really sell in Europe, so it’s a pipe dream of it’s own.
To be honest, I think if she’s willing to marry a Norwegian she’s not so much an ethno nationalist and is probably just anti Armenian, and whilst I would never want to defend racism, she’d probably get the VAL treatment if she went on social media to defend Armenians.
There is no need for her to defend Armenians, but maybe gloating their deaths isn’t the way to go.
It’s like someone would support BLM but not Stop Asian Hate -movement.
Oh yikes, yes gloating over Armenian deaths is disgusting, as it would be to gloat over Azerbaijani deaths.
Tix please consider what woman you want to marry.
No one gloated over any deaths.
Just asking. Why dislikes? Did Efendi really enjoy Armenians’s deaths? I am not denying it, I just ask for some proof
I replied you some IG posts from her, but it’s currently waiting for approval because I put some links there. Anyway you’ll be able to see her IG posts if you have an account.
Ok thank you very much
If she somehow achieves a big European hit, courtesy of TIX, those comments will come back to haunt her, and if she’s forced to acknowledge them, she’ll alienate someone. She’s almost better off staying in Azerbaijan.
Very true, these days it’s harder to hide deep and dark things from the public. Although she isn’t really hiding them that much..
She lives in a dictatorship that takes Eurovision very seriously. She was their representative for over a year. How much if a choice did you have in putting those things are twitter and Instagram. The government probably put huge pressure on her to do these stunts.
On a barely related note, I always thought that a great plot for a Eurovision movie would be a star crossed lovers romance between the Armenian and Azerbaijani contestants.
To be honest I would prefer an American made ESC movie as opposed to a British one. Will Ferrell’s wife is Swedish and he’s a genuine fan of the contest.
And Will Ferrell handled it with unexpected grace and love. Never change a winning team.
I don’t know if I’d call it a winning team but Ferrell certainly had good intentions.
Wait, this is….real? I mean Tix seemed genuinely infatuated (if a bit OTT about it) but this sounds like it could be a viable relationship. I will say that they do seem to genuinely like each other if just as friends.
So this wasn’t a publicity stunt?
Lmao where do you get such information? State really doesn’t care about what people say or do, it’s not North Korea we’re talking about. Break your stereotypes.
Isn’t it weird how “Princess Diana” always comes to defend Azerbaijan over anything.. just like KESC aka KRM aka MYY..
One might wonder..
And it’s really weird that you hare hating on everything related to Azerbaijan.
Not really, I think we all deserve human rights.
Well, she has herself said she’s Azerbaijani so no surprise there…
As a matter of fact I am Azerbaijani (yikes, this is why I am always “defending” Azerbaijan) and I’ve mentioned that a bunch of times. And I want to show you that things are not like the way you think they are.
Bunlar kafayi Azerbaycan ve Türkiyeyle bozmuslar.
Beyinleri yok bunlar?n çünki. Haha
I literally got disliked because I said I’m Azerbaijani. This is so funny 😀
There is actually an online database run by journalists around the world to record the amount of press freedom in each country. Out of all the countries that participate in Eurovision, Azerbaijan ranks the lowest in press freedom. Azerbaijan ranks 167 out of 180 countries, making its press one of the least free on the planet.
In comparison, Norway ranks #1 in press freedom
The contest is over and they both finished right hand side, they don’t really have much to gain other than a few wiwibloggs articles lol. TIX is already massive in Norway without this
One day he will be massive outside im just waiting for this…cant believe people in czechia voted for a woman from Moldova…. the only thing i cared about her was her mic drop on the stage.
What a stupid comment that you wrote: ‘that people cannot just talk freely’. I can’t You dont have any idea about Azerbaijan. It isnt North Korea for you. Wake up
well, Kateryna already met Gjon’ parents in Rotterdam (she said it on insta), doesn’t it mean they’re engaged? lol
sorry,im joking of course, I just find Efendy and Tix relationship really cute
Kateryna and Gjon are just friends though?
I think so, I don’t really know the nature of their relationship, I only know they been communicated for long time through zoom, there some very adorable vids out there of them chatting online, then they finally met in Rotterdam and now they write each other very cute and tender messages, Gjon calls her ‘my Kate’ she calls him ‘my baby’ and both them saying they can’t wait for the colab …aww
they probably close friends and I think its adorable 🙂
She stole him from Barbara. 🙁
what do you mean ‘stole’, I know Gjon is a diamond but don’t think someone could stole him for real hehe he looks genuinely enjoy Kateryna’ present in his life, when I saw him suddenly came to her livestream last week and left comment “I love you my Kate, can’t wait to see you soon” and she was glowing after seeing it I was a bit shocked lmao I think smt beautiful is coming out of this amazing friendship or more…. haha and there is a really cute video of them from last year on zoom when they both find… Read more »
It’s not forbidden to have a lot of friends. And true friends are more precious than gold bracelets.
true, they all could be dear friends if they want it, no need to be jealous of someone relationship, I love how Eurovision can brings such different people together, this is amazing 🙂
I have just put $100 on them with the bookies, them to represent San Marino as a duet next year ?? Okay Okay, I am joking about the $100 bet, but seriously Efentix for San Marino next in Italy 2022! Someone start a petition ??
Lol Valentina may join them
Threesome I like it
ok but why is she so…..non-feminist? like why should she move to norway if they get married, maybe he should move to azerbaijan ahaha. also she shouldn’t need her mothers permission….
I mean, Norwegian public services are hard to beat. Maybe Efendi is a big believer in Scandinavian mixed economies.
Democracy would be good too…
it just seems strange, the way she said it was weird but maybe it’s just the translation
Different culture, elders are revered. Its like asking a girls dad’s hand in marriage but on crack
True
Maybe Samira’s family want to invest and Tix as well, remember that both are wealthy
she sang at Eurovision about women empowerment. feminists also may want to get marry or move out for her/his loved ones! that does not make them less feminists.
If I were a Norwegian I wouldn’t move anywhere.
Why is everyone calling it a publicity stunt, they arent kim and kanye or beyonce and jay z, literally what would they be getting out of it? Most people outside of the eurovision bubble propably dont even know about it
Tix is big in Norway and has musical connections throughout Scandinavia and the US. Mata Hari is doing well in the Norwegian charts, Norway is Western Europe (rich, connected)
It’s naive to think this couldn’t be publicity.
Is there a single article where you are not hating on anything related to her?
Yeah lots
Maybe you should read every article and see if I am hating her under every single one before you accuse me of things
Lmao that’s exactly the reason why I was asking. I’ve never seen an article where you were not hating either on her or on her country.
Bae
This is a song contest, any comments I made where regarding her song. As I do with every country.
As for “hating on” her – grow up! Don’t even dare try to censor me with that nonsense.
Btw, Mata Hari is not only doing well in the Norwegian charts.
I currently checked the Norwegian Top 50 on Spotify and Mata Hari is at #39. But I guess it doesn’t mean much since several Eurovision songs have been in the Spotify Top 50 since the ESC week
My only wish is that this relationship grows into another smash hit a la “Sweet But Psycho”, just for Efendi this time around. As a music producer it would be a great thing for TIX to get around in Europe making a bigger name for himself.
Tix was one of the artists this year whose personality I really liked. He seems a thoughtful, genuine guy but I wish he didn’t feel so insecure. I understand why he is, but I feel for him. I watched his interview on Norwegian TV where he cried & said he felt so alone. He really opened up about his feelings & why he was contemplating suicide. He didn’t want to die but he didn’t want to continue living like that. My heart broke for him. People I love have felt like that & I did all I could to help… Read more »
That’s so very thoughtful and kind. There should be more people like you!
Fake or not, publicity stunt or genuine, it’s actually cute and adorable. At least it provides a nice pause way from Maltese delegations and selection failures talks.
if it is genuine and true, then good luck to the ESC-couple(who are we to deny love)? If it’s fake then at least it helped us through this post ESC depression.
