She came third in the OGAE 2022 fan poll. She placed second — by the thinnest of margins — with our Wiwi Jury. And now Chanel continues her ascent. Spain’s Eurovision 2022 star is our readers’ favourite to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 prior to rehearsals.
Ten days ago we asked our readers to vote for their favourites to snatch the crown in Turin. We counted a total of 23,149 votes and the “SloMo” queen emerged victorious.
Chanel, who has constantly dazzled with that dance break on TV and at promo concerts, has been spinning and twisting and splitting her way into our hearts ever since Benidorm Fest. She earned a total of 2,601 votes — or more than 11% of all those cast.
Here’s how I reviewed her ahead of rehearsals.
“Fans of Spain’s Eurovision 2022 act have been using the mango emoji to share their love of Chanel’s juicy entry. But given the spice and enduring burn of her performance, a chilli pepper seems more appropriate. “SloMo” catches fire thanks to its infectious beat and enticing raggaeton feels. But Chanel takes the flames even higher with her eye-popping choreography, which would leave even J. Lo needing to stretch. From the strobe light effects to the killer dance break, this production is a dizzying slice of joy and awe. If a Eurovision winner is based on entertainment, this is easily the most perfect entry of the year.”
In second place we have Sweden’s Cornelia Jakobs — the winner of both the OGAE fan poll and the Wiwi Jury. The Melodifestivalen winner knows how to tug on heartstrings with her folk-pop ballad and we are most definitely here for it.
She earned 2,155 votes, or just over 9% of all those cast.
Rounding out the Top 3 are Italy’s Mahmood & Blanco, who finished second in the OGAE poll. They are the only other act to earn more than 2,000 votes with our readers.

Where did your favourite place? Who do you think will win the televote at Eurovision? Let us know in the comments down below!
slomo people !!!
Move and drinks Mango juice …. pa pa pá
A lot of positivity to Ireland having viewed rehearsals clip I agree
Don’t kill me but I like Romania even more then Spain. But she is gorgeous, good luck
This Spanish song is so boring and…nothing! Also, Albanian… Serbia has the best song and performance!
I read comments and it feels like wow in a very bad sense. Eurovision was created to unite Europe but now social media seems to be bringing Europe apart. I cannot understand how come people actually ‘hate’ a song, call it garbage, they are only happy if their favourite song wins and they support a song by attacking and belittling others.
Sorry to say but totally don’t like Chanel’s song it did nothing to me when i heard her live in Amsterdam. Rumania is the song for me that i can’t get out of my head and of course Mahmood and Blanco hope they will win, will be sad if Mahmood becomes 2nd again and the song is realy good .
You dont like Spanish song but you love Romanian… That is interesting in a twisted way.
So much hate in the air, looove it ,Satan bless you all ,
This would be the first year that my last place wins it…
This is the act I’m more excited about this year. I hope Chanel brrrrings it to the stage.
Im totally agree with the top 4. i think is going to be those countries. Im still thinking that Italy is going to win again.
Bahahahahaha of course nobody at Wiwibloggs understands the mango emoji. It’s because it means “yo mango” like “I steal”. We use the mango emoji because Benidorm Fest was stolen by Chanel. She is not who we wanted to send to Turin.
I am proud to be part of this 4% then. After three months you should be over it 🙂
esto te lo acabas de inventar porque te ha dado la gana. El mango viene del “jugo de mango” de SloMo. Y Chanel gano dignamente con el sistema de votación. No seas tan reventado y avanza
no he inventado nada puta. eres tonto o mentiroso? o los dos??
no he inventado nada perra. eres tonto o mentiroso? o los dos??
I kinda wish you would’ve send tit woman, I bet that it would get NO hype at all but oh well I’m not a soothsayer so who knows. To me it was always between Terra and SloMo, but Terra fell flat on stage and would’ve been overshadowed by France anyway. And tit woman would’ve been overshadowed by Serbia. You should be grateful that some people in Spain actually had the brain cells to vote for Chanel. (Only being this disrespectful cuz u seem to have no respect for the actual result of Benidorm Fest whatsoever, anyways). Besides that it seems… Read more »

Good luck Spain
There ought to be a public health warning that every time Wiwi fanboys shout “queen” and “slay”… That some reality check based on juries and Saturday night voters kicks in. Last year. Malta, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, San Marino… All fell way short of expectations. I’m really not sure Chanel is any different.
Difference is last year there were a ton of these type of performances, this year Chanel has basically no competition. Only other one that could be conpared is Albania, and even then they are so different. And lets be real, none of them from last year was doing what Chanel is doing. She is on another level. Now im not saying spain wil win or maybe not even top 10 because everything is possible in eurovision, but her chances are much better than those from last year.
I’d say melodically, Slo-Mo is way inferior to a number of last year’s numbers. If this finishes higher than eighth I will be surprised…
The Spanish think Chanel won because she’s the favourite when the reality is they voted for their own country. I hope the juries see right through it as it’s garbage.
Is that what you and the citizens of your country do? ?
very good to see serbia finish 6th in this poll, konstrakta is a winner
To me those poll numbers say there’s no clear favorite, the votes are so split. 11% vs 9%, come on now.
I would have so much to say to offend the Spaniards with this trashy 90’s song, a banal, boring and old rhythm that only Iberians like, but I wouldn’t want to bring them too much luck!
Honey, Spaniards brought so much hate to the song when it was chosen because their favorite didn’t win, it is the rest of Europe who’s been saying this is a bop, and it is first in the poll for a reason, the fact that you dont like it doesn’t mean everyone agrees nor that it is a bad song
I’m from Spain. I don’t like this song. But please, don’t say this is a rhythm only iberians like. This kind of music isn’t related to Spain but from the other coast of the Atlantic ocean. Even most of us don’t understand why Chanel sings in bad spanglish with a cuban accent when she susally speaks in a plain spanish accent from Barcelona.
Latin vibes aren’t spanish vibes.
You wish to have more latin vibes, because you have go wait an entire life to win, but guess what David Cibera (6), Beth (Dime) and Ramon (Para llenarme de ti) have latin vibes and got better results than other songs. You wish to have more latin soul because it is modern and spotify and all over the world is so popular. What a losers are you? You prefer two songs that doesn’t have any chance to get top 10 because its not efective in being international. I dont think that Terra or Ay Mama could be ar this time… Read more »
Neither like those other two. I was more with Barry Brava. But don’t think I’ve lost anything, nor money, nor my house or family because Chanel won. Maybe it’s you who should forget Terra or Ay Mamá.
Aniways, my point isn’t if people likes Slo Mo or not or if I think it deserves winning. My point is only make an statement about those latín sounds aren’t spanish sounds but latin. Period. Before Spain was flamenco and now is latin? ????
Offend the Spaniards??? As if… Say what you want man.
This has Malta 2021 written all over it now- I truly hope history does not repeat itself again, for Chanel’s sake. She collected barely 4% of the public vote in her national final….. just sayin.
We Spaniards will be happy to finish 7th, so if it is Malta 2021, it is welcome.
Last year there were too much competition in “pop divas”. This year theres only two pop divas Ronela and Chanel. And the big favs are ballads so that increase Spain posibilities a lot. Spain is going to be top 5 no matter what. And how much % do u think get all the televotes?. Imagine a televote btw 26 countries in the final, maybe the countries that recieve 1 to 6 points have 4 or 5 % too.
France will sweep up all the televotes Chanel will get.
Can you please make a poll in which people can’t vote for their own country? I think that there are a lot of no-spanish fans, but I’m curious….
this is the first year that Spain win a poll. So Spain didnt won this poll because of spanish fans. Chanel is really a big fav to win
You see Spain say “yes we choose to vote to support her”.
I’m not talking about Spain. I think that in general is not an effective way to understand the true favorite
I would be so happy if Spain wins. Totally don’t get the hype over Italy and Sweden. Plus it’s nice to see my country on the 4th place (of course I know that many Poles voted for Ochman, but still). Especially when we compare it with Wiwi’s result of 6.34 points.
thank u so much for Spain. Im still thinking that Italy Spain or Poland are going to win. Good luck
There is one flop every year that is heavily rated in polls and with bookies. Who will it be this year . Out of the following who do you guys think will flop the most ?
Spain
Ukraine
Italy
UK
Greece
Poland
Sweden
Italy.
Spain and Ujrain
My money is on Spain, Ukraine and possibly, even Poland failing to finish relatively high. Definitely not the UK and Sweden.
Spain, UK and Ukraine.
I think Spain and UK might finish in the top 10 but I do not see them being in the top 3. Ukraine, on the other hand, may not even qualify with that dreadful performance that we saw yesterday.
Absolutely Ukraine shouldn’t qualify with that performance. Hideous.
Rehearsals are just that. Rehearsals. We shouldn’t even really be watching them. I seem to recall Germany and Denmark having terrible Rehearsals in 2010 and they both ended up top 5.
I think that of these countries the UK, Italy and Sweden will be the jury favourites, while Spain, Greece, Poland and Ukraine will be favoured by televoters.
I feel like Sweden has the highest chance of winning here, followed by Italy. Ukraine and Spain will be killed by juries, while UK won’t be very popular with televoters.
Greece and France (you did not mention it, but France is also high on polls and odds.
I do see Spain, Greece and Serbia doing much worse than many people predict. That’s just due to the fact that especially those countries are often overhyped by their local eurofans. The songs aren’t bad – don’t get me wrong. But the way some countries are overhyped evey year is just rediculous. Spain has a decent latino-pop-song with a good dance number. But how on earth will she get more votes than let’s say Italy, Poland, Netherlands or Ukraine? I just don’t see that happening. For that the spanish entry seems to be too commericalized and to similar to much… Read more »
I could include Norway, everyone loves them here but it’s a borderline qualifier at best
Sweden!! she is going to be that high in jurys vote
How do these polls correspond with the eventual results in the contest in previous years ? Any one have this info ?
It’s not my favourite song but she is a fantastic performer !
May this be the first time the Spanish entry is not being ridicously overhyped by Spanish eurofans? Maybe. Good luck everyone in Turin! (also, I’m really a bit sad of the Czech Republic’s poor performance everywhere, since it is my favorite rn)
I feel like the hype is generated not only because it’s not a bad song, but also because it comes from a country that has been doing poorly at Eurovision for quite a long time now. Similarly to San Marino last year – WOWAOWOAO Senhit for the win! And then, 13 televoting points in the Grand Final.
Fun maybe, but useless these polls. In the wiwi-fanbubble the tacky Spanish entry is pushed a lot. Top 10, not a win. Like last years awfull Malta overhyped to the max.
Absolutely overrated, lo siento mucho…
Spain should be lucky to be in finals, same as UK. They never get votes. When we remove them from the list above ? it’s kind-a match with with what should be final result.
The problem of these polls are the self voting you should avoid that and the other problem is when you say “is our readers favourite to win” , it’s wrong, I’m one of your reader and she is not my favourite to win, I don’t dislike Chanel at all but the song but I respect her as an artist, she is simply not my favourite or among my favs so I can’t relate on this article and it doesn’t represent me, readers like me feel excluded in that case…
“The problem of these polls “IS” the too much self voting” sorry for the mistake.
The problem of these polls are people taking them too seriously. Fan polls don’t really matter when it comes to the results and success of songs.
I’m not saying these polls are important for the real contest but that I don’t feel represented by the “is our readers’ favourite” as a reader myself.
Why do you have to be represented? You dont like the song, I do… What can Wiwibloggs do to “represent” us both?
Your ‘i dont feel represented” feels like a childish tantrum
A poll winner does not represent every single voter, in any field, from Eurofans to the elections for the European Parliament. That’s the definition of a poll, so there is no “problem” with that.
Your comment is way too absurd. Have you ever heard of democracy?? Your comment would be like a French saying, i dont accept Macron as President because I did not vote for him.
No se si ganará… Creo que lo tendrá difícil, pero lo que se es que hará historia en Eurovisión e impactará y será un hit su actuación!…. Hablamos el 14 de Mayo, Aguaaaaaa!
I would love to see Spain win! Not only it would mean a fantastic reward for the country after the efforts with the Benidorm Fest (best national selection of the year), but also, after two years of mess, I NEED something fun to celebrate about. Yeah, the lyrics are not winning a Pulitzer prize, and the song is basically a reggeaton (on the other hand, the hottest music genre right now), but all Eurovision winning songs had its flaws. I’m expecting a mind blowing show by Chanel and her team. I can’t wait!
LOL My top 6 exactly, just in a jumbled order! Spain is amazing, why not win anyway ? Relax and enjoy! Eurovision is a coming! ?????
Honestly, in recent days I have a feeling that Spain could be a shocking winner. Chanel looks remarkable and exceptional in year full of slow-tempo acts.
Last year, with 10-12 up-tempo female songs, she could struggle, but this year she is in the best condition to slay
100& agree last year shw wouldn´t won. The reason that all the favs are ballads are increasing Spain chances a lot
Spain had much more chance to win Eurovision with Rigoberta
Rigoberta’s song was an interesting but risky proposal. However-let’s face and admit it- she didn’t have a good vocal technique to deliver, especially at the beginning of Ay Mamá.
12 points from Spain to… Spain! And then they will cry after the contest that the fans won’t vote for them lol.
They finally send something competitive and this is what happens, unbearable, relentless hype for a song that does not deserve it at all.
Dont worry we are used to cry… But it only lasts a couple of days. May is usually quite warm in Spain so we go out we go to the beach we go party and in 2 days the ‘pain’ is over.
Spain has a competent performer and will probably get the staging right, but the problem always comes back to the song. SloMo just isn’t memorable, it doesn’t have that “hook”.
As far as I know, the song didn’t become a major hit in Spain, despite lots of press and promotion.
I suspect she will do much better with the juries than with the televoting.
I loved SloMo before I ever saw the performance. I honestly don’t know what people are talking about.
I don’t think this is a jury song though, it’ll do okay but it won’t be on top.
Are the juries violin players or classical music composers? Here in Spain last year 2 members were participants of a talent show, 1 was a not very famous singer, 1 was acomposer and the last a DJ.
Go spain! the new queen of ESC!!! 🙂
If Spain reaches the top 10 that will be a win – honestly I have more chance of winning Eurovision than SloMo and I didn’t enter a participation. It might get you out of your chair (that doesn’t necessarily mean everyone votes for it), it’ll have some choreography in it (which in itself doesn’t win take a look at Fuego which was also an average song dolled up by staging). Amanacer in 2015 was hyped and flopped, Say Yay was liked by fans and it also flopped! Hardcore fans need to step back and think about it from a non-hardcore… Read more »
These constant votes are completely pointless and toxic. What the hell is are they supposed to show us? I’m just trying to understand the situation of the artists who only get negative feedback weeks before the performance. In addition, these polls are often complete nonsense. Spain won’t win the show anyway. While the song is quite nice, it’s again a case in point where a country overhypes itself and the Eurovision bubble joins in because the singer is charismatic and funny. Please give the artists a little more peace. Stop evaluating every step, every single outfit and every single statement.… Read more »
Well yeah thats how eurovision works, the ones who stand out the most are the ones talked about the most. All the ones you listed are good entries, but nothing about them is really that special or different from the rest. Spain is giving one of the best choreos ever in eurovision, serbia is giving one of the most captivating entries ever etc. Thats why people are talking about these entries
The eurovision fan media should cover the artists more equally and give everyone the same chance to present themselves to the viewers. I honestly feel bad for some artists who constantly get negative critiques even though they put so much emotion, work and love into their songs. That just destroys the overall positive feeling of togetherness. I attended one Pre-party and i saw arists being completely ignored while others would give one interview after another. And most of this is based on biased eurofreaks that push artists from several countries year by year no matter who’s the representative artist –… Read more »
We get it, you’re jealous… It’s ok, you’ll get over it at some point…
A very mature comment.
Just passed by your comment, nothing to add but express my respect to your objectivity. For example, literally, most of the Wiwibloggs articles this year have foccused on specific artists only (two classic examples being Chanel or Ireland’s Brooke). Even Emma Muscatt has gotten more coverage in general by journalists just because she’s famous and absolutely nobody takes the song in regard of how unoriginal it sounds. On the other hand, participants like Systur, Michael Ben David, Reddi, Michael Harris, Rosa Linn etc., have gotten much less or almost zero coverage for reasons that simply cannot be explained or justified… Read more »
Slomo romanticizes the Playboy world where women are objects for men. The opposite of the message from Netta and me too. How can you as a thinking person be both a fan of Slomo and TOY? Reflect on the lyrics in the two songs! In interviews, ask about the text and what it signals to young women. Have a smart but also hot teenage daughter, I hope I managed to give her self-esteem and values ??that her value is higher than that she should be someone’s toy and need to “make all the daddies go crazy” and that she would… Read more »
Its just a fun song not meant to be taken seriously. The lyrics are not the focal point, its the performance. And thats fine, not every song needs out of the world amazing poetic lyrics
So if we change the lyrik even more so it whould romanticise being a hore. Is that fine? Should we then only focus on the performance?
A completely unsolicited, but much needed piece of advice:You need to get laid now! Get laid! Now! ?????
Sweetheart, that’s exactly the arguments men use to power women that speak out for values. I am a mother above all and my focus is that my daughter is going to grow up in a world we’re this kind of values about women will rule. Sex to satisfie old men. Do you think that is something Chanel dream about or something the songwriter dream of? What do you think about the music industry? How much do you think Chanel are told to do in the video? And how much impact do you think that she have on the lyric!
This matter of songs and lyrics having to set an example for young people is absurd.
I still see that it annoys many people to listen to a woman who says she is in control about sex. I think many of you mistake sex and sexism.
Do you think that Chanel was asked to be apart of the songwring process? No way. If this really was about control over sex, well then I would completely support the message! Totally! But it is obvious for any mutere women to se that this song isn’t about that. It clear that this is a song that has been written for a hot women to sing by a man the way a man picture how a woman get turned on the way he want it to be. And men tend to think that women are satisfied by satisfi men. Do… Read more »
I totally agree with you….
Ufff, this debate has been soooo tiring in Spain that I am already exhausted by this point: a woman can dress as she wants and the fact that she is sexy does not make her less of a woman, less smart, less independent or less respectable. And that’s feminism as well.
I totally agree! Have I said a word about that? Love Chanel’s dance and she seems very sweat. But comparir with a young Madonna for example.
Chanel could be naked and have dildos on stage if she wanted. What I am disgusted by is the lyric that clearly has nothing to do whith woman’s sexuality to do. It has to do whit what men whant it to be for women.
I have a feeling that half of the bottom 10 will qualify—there’s a world that Iceland, Switzerland, Moldova, Latvia and Georgia can go through. And Germany Is already in the final.
That’s absolutely right. It’s simply because these polls are completely pointless. We haven’t seen the final product. We don’t know if any country will surprise us and suddenly be a Top 10 contender. I’m almost sure Moldova and Latvia will qualify. Germany also deserves to do well because his song actually has a meaning. Same goes for Switzerland and Iceland. I really hope that we will see positive surprises and songs doing much better than the fan bubble expects. I don’t see Spain being 1st in any way. Her song is totally fine but there is already Albania that is… Read more »
To be honest, i’m just ecstatic that UK is in the top 5 of the fans. It already feels like a jury winner so there might still be hope. ^^ 😀
deserved, i hope they do well this year
Yassss a latina winning eurovision how iconic!!
Im latino and we love Spain!!! and she´ll win for her force!!!
She’s awesome, good luck! It’s incredible how she can be that stable while doing such demanding choreo. Singing on a treadmill and dancing in high heels really paid off
Again, good luck! <3
We know. You guys have kept on repeating the same comment for the past 3.5 months now, overpraising Chanel at every chance…. 🙂
“You guys”? I have no idea, i finally found time to listen to the songs a week ago (been buys with life) and started commenting here three days ago. Never read any comments. I listen to kpop, i know that they practice singing on a treadmill and practice dancing in heels and i’m certain she does it at well.
If people have made the same comment for 3.5 month then I’m glad they are aware how hard is it to pull this off
LOL! And I’m Ronela’s inspiration for the helicopter hair dance move.
