The Eurovision 2025 season is beginning to heat up. Over the course of the next few months, we will all fall in and out of love with scores of new national final and Eurovision entries. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests.
Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.
Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.
New music from Eurovision artists: 2024 | Week 47
Olly Alexander – “Polari”
Olly Alexander, who represented the United Kingdom in Eurovision this year, has just released his newest track, “Polari,” the title song and intro to his upcoming album. Though only a minute and a half long, the track brims with explosive energy, and the accompanying music video showcases Olly’s exceptional dancing skills.
“Polari” takes its name from British slang that originated as a secret language among theatre performers, fairground workers, and market traders, later embraced by some members of the LGBTQ+ community in the 20th century. It incorporates Italianate words, rhyming slang, and elements of Romani. The song delves into the idea that people often talk endlessly without saying anything meaningful, scattering words without substance about everything and everyone.
Reflecting on the track, Olly shared:
“In the ‘lost gay language’ of Polari, ‘Polari’ means ‘to speak’. I was very inspired by how we communicate with each other and what it means to speak a secret language, something I think we all do in some form or another with the people we’re close to. In our hyper connected world of fractured communication it’s not easy to trust that anything is what it seems, I felt that a song about vernacular should be as wild and unpredictable as the history of Polari itself.”
Hadise – “Baksana Bana”
Hadise represented Türkiye in Eurovision 2009, a country we deeply miss in the competition, and we hope for its return soon. This week, she celebrates femininity and confidence with her latest track, titled “Look at Me” in English. The song is a cover of a classic originally released in 1977 by Işıl German.
The track is featured on the soundtrack of Esas Oğlan, a series in which Hadise plays one of the main roles. The lyrics speak about finding strength after heartbreak: “Can’t you see, you can never love me again? / You can’t come, you can never come back to me.” The idea to revive this timeless piece came from the series’ director, who wanted a soundtrack inspired by the rich heritage of Turkish music from the 1960s and 1970s.
Cleo, Donatan, Runa, Sarius & Jano Polska Wersja – “Pada Deszcz”
The next song and music video will transport you to the roots of Polish fairy tales. Cleo, alongside producer Donatan, represented Poland in Eurovision 2014. They are back with a new track and this time, the collaboration includes Polish rappers Sarius and Jano, with Donatan once again handling production. However, instead of Cleo as the lead voice, we meet Runa.
According to Cleo, Runa represents her alter ego — her darker, mystical side. She describes Runa as a witch-like character who takes over this song, imbuing it with traditional elements and a touch of witchcraft. The evocative lyrics pay homage to the healing power of rain and the spirit of nature: “Sleep has enveloped the forest, fog lures shadows/ I dance in tears, the wind blows quietly/ The rain washes away this fear from me/ When it rains after a battle/ It’s a good sign from the Gods/ The forests rustle, rustle somewhere/ I am in the peace of the spirit of the Tatras.” About Runa’s presence in this project, Cleo shared:
“RUNA is the darker part of me. Slavic Whisperer. My inner sister, whose roots come from the dark and ancient corners of the soul. Runa has experienced and seen so much that her eye and hand have turned black. She is not afraid of the dark – that is why She will be your guide through the dark corners of the EQUINOX.”
Helena Paparizou – “Update”
Helena Paparizou, who won Eurovision 2005 for Greece, returns with a vibrant new song that celebrates self-love and personal growth. The track blends a modern sound with subtle traditional influences, all perfectly complemented by Helena’s powerful vocals that take over. In the music video, Helena radiates as a true goddess, embodying the song’s empowering theme: she isn’t growing older but upgrading into ever better versions of herself. The upbeat track exudes positivity and confidence, with lyrics like: “I am not growing up/ I only update (restart my life)/ Time does not define me/ No age/ The female law, period/ 1, 2, 3 – Update.” With its catchy energy, the song delivers a message of unstoppable confidence.
Jonida Maliqi – “Asnjë tjetër”
“My new song ‘Asnjë tjetër’ is not just a melody; it is a love story. It is a call to all those who, despite obstacles and brokenness, have the power to love. Love, this universe that gives us breath and meaning, is what teaches us to be better, more human. Without it, not even our hearts would have the rhythm of life.”
372Kaspar feat. 5MIINUST – “Nätakas”
From Estonia, we have 5MIINUST, who represented the country in this year’s Eurovision alongside Puuluup. This time, they return with another exciting collaboration, teaming up with 372Kaspar. Their new track, titled “Ugly,” is a bold and unique blend of electronic and rock elements, standing out as an original and dynamic addition to this week’s playlist.
LUNA – “Personal Torture”
LUNA, who represented Poland in this year’s Eurovision, is back with a captivating new track infused with pop-dance elements. The accompanying music video is artistic and carries a slightly dark aesthetic, perfectly complementing the song’s introspective theme. With lyrics like, “No one else could set me free, ’cause I’m not my enemy,” LUNA explores the difficulty of choosing self-compassion during times of struggle, especially when self-doubt takes over. Reflecting on the song, LUNA confessed:
“‘Personal Torture’ is a moment of honesty and clarity, a raw snapshot of what it means to reclaim yourself. I wrote it in Stockholm, feeling a thousand miles from my comfort zone yet closer to myself than ever. There was this storm of realization, like I’d been spinning in circles, tied to expectations and illusions that weren’t even mine. I thought I had it all—but really, I was caught in my own ‘personal torture.’ ‘Personal Torture’ opens the journey of No Rest, my upcoming album, where each song peels back another layer of what it’s taken to find my voice. Here’s to choosing ourselves, even when it’s the hardest thing to do. So tell me, what’s the one thing you’d let go of if you could?”
Kaiti Garbi, Dionisis Shinas & Foivos – “Protagonistes”
Kaiti, who represented Greece in Eurovision 1993, is back this week with a very special love song. Titled “Protagonists,” the track is a collaboration with her husband, Dionisis, who has previously contributed to the Eurovision scene as a composer. The song also features Foivos. Kaiti and Dionisis are beloved figures in the Greek entertainment industry, and this heartfelt, sentimental ballad has left their fans even more excited. The couple celebrates 29 years since their first collaboration and 28 years of marriage, adding a personal touch to this beautiful release.
Ochman – Klasycznie
From Poland, we also have Ochman, who represented the country at Eurovision 2022. He returns with a stunning new album titled Classics — a name that perfectly captures its essence. The album features 12 tracks, including an intro and outro, and showcases Ochman’s unique voice, orchestral arrangements, and a spectrum of emotions. Classics includes both English and Polish songs, blending Ochman’s original works with iconic covers, such as Freddie Mercury’s “Love of My Life” and Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” (originally performed by Claude François). While some tracks were previously released as singles, the album offers plenty of new surprises, making it a must-listen for fans and newcomers alike.
Montaigne – “everybody else”
Montaigne’s newest song takes an electronic turn, showcasing her ever-evolving artistry. Initially selected to represent Australia in Eurovision 2020 — before the contest was cancelled due to the pandemic — she made a triumphant return in 2021. With lyrics like, “Oh let’s get into the car so I can scream a little / Oh it’s always been this way ever since you were little / I could never really say what’s really wrong with me / But everybody else can see / Everybody else can,” the song delves into the pain of feeling held back by others when you’re ready to spread your wings.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Montaigne revealed that the song was inspired by her difficult relationship with her mother. She expressed how painful the experience was, while acknowledging the layers of social trauma her immigrant mother endured — rooted in racism, misogyny, displacement, religion, and war.
Justyna Steczkowska – “SLAVIC”
Justyna, the Polish star who represented her country in Eurovision 1995, continues to captivate audiences. A runner-up in this year’s national selection, she delighted fans by expressing her willingness to return to the Polish national selection for Eurovision 2025. This week, Justyna embraces her Slavic roots with a new song that beautifully pays tribute to her culture and heritage.
Ruslana – “Кам’яна Діва”
Ruslana, the iconic Ukrainian singer and winner of Eurovision 2004, has released her latest track, “Stone Queen.” The song comes in two versions — Ukrainian and English — bringing her signature energy back to the spotlight. For those who missed the Ukrainian ethnic dance style that made Ruslana a global sensation, this track is a perfect reminder of her roots. The lyrics carry a powerful message of strength and resilience, while also revealing a vulnerable side filled with dreams and hopes: “Maybe the rock has dreams / And even stone hopes / Look into the stone eyes / And see what it wants.”
English version: “Stone Queen“
Dämmerland feat. Chris Harms – “Licht und Schatten” and “Dämmerland”
Chris Harms, the lead singer of the German rock band Lord of the Lost, who represented Germany in Eurovision 2023, returns this week with two new tracks in collaboration with Dämmerland. Both songs are featured on Dämmerland’s latest album. The first track, “Licht und Schatten” (Light and Shadow), stays true to the powerful rock sound that has made Chris famous, delivering the intensity fans expect. However, the second track, “Dämmerland” (Twilight Land), reveals a different side of Chris. This song embraces a serene, almost ethereal sound with soft infusions of German folklore, offering a refreshing contrast to his usual style.
Mimicat & André Viamonte – “Agora é Hora”
Back in 2023, the charming Mimicat represented Portugal at Eurovision. Now, she returns with her latest song, “Now It’s the Time,” a heartfelt collaboration with André Viamonte. Their voices blend beautifully, creating a ballad that feels truly special. The song tells the story of a goodbye between two people whose love has burned out: “I still remember thinking about us/ Resolving to undo the knots/ That were created in this illusion/ That one day we had reason/ To exist in the same universe.” Despite reaching the point of saying “enough,” the song offers a sense of hope, opening a window to healing and new beginnings.
Andreas Lundstedt – “F.A.M.E (LeyLey)”
Andreas, the Swedish star who represented Switzerland in Eurovision 2006 as part of the group Six4One, is back to get the party started. This week, he delivers a vibrant cover of the hit song “F.A.M.E,” originally released by Prodotto di Superti and Dani M in 2019. Andreas brings a fresh twist to the track, infusing it with his unique energy and style. Get ready to dance because this one is sure to light up your playlist!
Kállay Saunders & Young trabajo – 4am in Budapest
Kállay, who competed in Eurovision 2014 for Hungary — a country we’re all hoping to see back in the contest — has just released a six-song EP in collaboration with Young Trabajo. The EP showcases Kállay’s impressive rap skills across a dynamic mix of tracks. From the high-energy beats of “Traka” to the smoother tones of “Como Se Siente” (How Does It Feel?), the collection delivers a fresh and savage vibe that’s impossible to ignore. This EP is a testament to Kállay’s versatility and creative energy.
Jeangu Macrooy – “I Found Someone”
Jeangu, who was selected to represent the Netherlands in Eurovision 2020 before the contest was cancelled due to the pandemic, made a return in 2021. This week, he releases a song that holds deep personal meaning for him. The ballad is inspired by a real love story that Jeangu knows intimately: the love story of his grandparents. Opening up about the song, Jeangu shared:
“This song is about my grandparents’ love story, and how amazing it was to have witnessed an affection so profoundly beautiful. Their story will forever be my inspiration and my compass for love. I’m so thrilled that I get to share their story with you.”
Cortes feat. Connect-R – “Sunrise In Your Sheets”
Connect-R, the Romanian singer who represented Moldova in Eurovision 2006 alongside Arsenium and Natalia, is back with a new collaboration. This time, he teams up with Cortes on a track from Cortes’ new album, which is the first-ever full-length hip-hop album in English to be released in Romania. The song they’ve collaborated on explores themes of intimacy and the enjoyment of a physical relationship with a loved one, adding a bold and sensual touch to the album.
Sunstorm – Restless Fight
For all the rock fans out there, the next album is a must-listen. Sunstorm, an American rock band, recently welcomed Ronnie Romero as their lead vocalist. Ronnie, who was also the frontman of the Bulgarian rock band Intelligent Music Project — the last representatives of Bulgaria in Eurovision, a country we hope to see return soon — brings his powerful voice to Sunstorm’s new album. The album features 11 authentic rock tracks, most of them carrying an optimistic message. From the high-energy anthem “Shot in The Dark” to the more nostalgic “Without You,” the album offers a diverse range of themes and emotions, making it impossible not to find something that resonates with your taste.
Dedduh & Vibin wit DJ Mono – “OL SKUL”
Dedduh, who represented Montenegro in Eurovision 2013 as part of the band Who See, makes a glorious return with a new collaboration alongside Vibin wit DJ Mono. If you’ve been missing old-school hip hop, this track is here to cure your nostalgia. The song takes you back to the classic hip hop style of the late 90s and early 00s, impressing with its smooth rap flows and authentic vibe.
Boris Novković – “Nesanica”
Have you ever wondered how “People are Strange” by The Doors would sound in a Balkan version? Or in a very happy, energetic joyful version? Well, Boris is here to answer that question with his newest track “Insomnia.” Representing Croatia in Eurovision 2005 alongside the Lado members, Boris brings us a fun, energetic party anthem with this song. “Insomnia” is pure excitement, guaranteed to get you in the party mood. The music video adds even more to the vibe, making it the perfect track to dive into and enjoy.
Beta Ey – “Wicked Game”
Beta, a member of the Icelandic trio Systur who competed in Eurovision 2022, has recorded a cover of the iconic song “Wicked Game,” originally performed by Chris Isaak in 1989. The inspiration for the cover came when Beta’s son asked her to play the song, which he had recently discovered and fallen in love with. After exploring and discussing the beauty of the track together, Beta felt compelled to record her own version.
VILIJA – “Liesti negalima”
We end this week’s round-up with Vilija, who represented Lithuania in Eurovision 2014. Her new song, “Do Not Touch,” marks a powerful return. With lyrics like “Go, look, do whatever you want / You can’t take a picture / You can’t touch / She’s not yours”, the song is a bold declaration of freedom, about breaking free and asserting that you belong only to yourself.
