Lights, camera, Sweden! Heat 3 of Melodifestivalen 2025 has come to an end in Västerås. Six new acts battled for two direct qualification spots into the Grand Final.
In the end those went to Greczula (“Believe Me”) and Annika Wickihalder (“Life Again”). Dolly Style, the third-place finishers, will live to see another day. Their song “YIHAA” helped them book a spot in the Final Qualification, which will be held immediately at the end of Heat 5 (from among all third place acts).
Melodifestivalen heat 3 results
- Greczula – “Believe Me” (direct to final)
- Annika Wickihalder – “Life Again” (direct to final)
- Dolly Style – “YIHAA” (final qualification)
- Malou Prytz – “24K Gold” (out)
- Angelino – “Teardrops” (out)
- Björn Holmgren – “Rädda mig” (out)
Did your favourite go through? Do you see one of the qualifiers winning all of Melfest? Let us know down below…
Greczula sounds like a polish surname.
Believe it’s Hungarian.
Greczula totally turned the tables here, it could finally be something different from Sweden, something not too slick, raw and more authentic. It’s like he’s an Italian rockstar in a Swedish setting, very interesting! Melodifestivalen is actually turning out to be very competitive this year, at this point a high placement at ESC is once again ensured.
Greczula. Wow, could we have a serious surprise contender here? Big Freddie Mercury vocals & Elton John piano songwriting. It’ll get 12 points from UK easily 😀
I see Annika’s had her best moment, bravo. I must admit I laughed at the lyric “I feel it coming” after what happened with Hera Björk last year. 🙂 Nice and cheerful otherwise.
He is good but is the song just as good? Obviously he is a showman but remove all that, what do you get? I feel like he is better than the song..
That said I do think he is a dark horse and out of all final ready he is the one most likely to get massive points from viewers. Would I support him if he wins? Yes? Do I think he would do well in ESC? not sure..
I miss Melfest. It is not Melfest anymore
What exactly do you miss?
I know one thing. SVT is struggling with money. Blame it on the inflation I guess. They even had to recycle the stage from last year. It’s up to the record companies I guess. But they need to get rid of some of the old songwriters and bring new blood at the same time.
However, Melodifestivalen is more fun as a program this year thanks to Edward af Sillen who’s back and the hosts are great.
Yes. Script is better this year. A surprise by Greczula. But overall we need a revamp. Björkman’s concept is fun entertainment but the music has been watered out. Maybe remove the international jury, make sure songwriters and performers cannot return or make two separate contests as in San Remo, one for veterans and one for newcomers. Maybe try letting everyone just sing in Swedish. I have many ideas. One example of this is when they let songs with indie sound have these bizarre sets. Brandelius got it last year and Holmgren got it yesterday. If you want to illustrate a… Read more »
Most of the staging are down to the artists themselves. They decide and SVT says if it can be done. We need internationel juries, they have no relation to the artists. And whats so wrong about constantly being competetive? It’s a contest. Back in the 2000’s we did send what we liked. Anf got nowhere in ESC. Which is why it was changed.. Second chance was never needed and is not needed now. Just have three finalists in each heat and that’s it. Qualifying is supposed to be something exclusive. If your song is not good enough to reach top… Read more »
1. No, the record labels are doing most stuff. The artist is part of the process but the labels pay for staging, props etc. There is a lot of money involved since they have the major labels in Sweden involved. Some countries involve one major label or rather have a minor label. But the monster created by Björkman needs to shrink.?2. Competitiveness is sh*t. It takes the worst out of people. In the early 2010s Björkman always came to the show reminding people. “Now it’s time to vote for what you think will work in ESC”. I’m really fed up… Read more »
I think this year is the old melfest we know…best show in years…don’t know what Melfest you are talking about…
I always like Malou Prytz, but she needs better songs.
For me problem with her is that she is still looking for what kind of artist she wants to be. This was her fourth attempt and none of the songs feels like her. She should take break and come back when she has found her artistry
i adore Malou – but her live vocal just isn’t all that – her performance on Saturday night wasn’t good
Heat 3. To date i’m not a fan of any qualifiers. Yes i can see the Frozen/the greatest showman vibe in Annika song. The other was a poor mans Bruno Mars staging which years ago Denmark did so much better. At this rate im assuming Sweden dont want the 8th win and possibly NQ.
Greczula was far from Bruno Mars though. Nothing similar at all .
People say this every year. Even when we have a had future winners ir top 5 contenders in our selection. With the low standard of chosen songs this year it will be no problem. And we have two heats to go. This heat was the worst so far. I don’t think we have seen the winner yet.
I hope you are right. I’ve always been a fan of Sweden songs despite the negative responses but this year i cant understand why the overall standard (so far) is so poor.
Greczula is my fav in Melfest so far 🙂
I’m actually glad that all 3 tracks are not the products of the usual Melodifestivalen song churners…
And Greczula is pretty much completely unknown in Sweden. Doesn’t happen often in Mello that an unknown artist goes directly to the final, so I’m happy about that too. The other 5 finalists so far are all well-known.
Well that threw me completely off guard. Whilst I really enjoyed Greczula’s performance, I think his performance was a lot stronger than the song itself. Malou coming back with what I think is her strongest melfest entry and not even making second chance baffles me. I’m happy for Dolly Style, they were my favourite this week. Yes the song is very simple, but I think it’s a lot of fun and it is memorable. Sometimes Sweden can throw a curveball our way.
Oh wow I didn’t expect this!
Sweden can be surprising too
For the contest’s sake it is fun to have unexpected results, shakes things up.
Not that I think Annika Wickihalder will fight for win but still.
Greczula was the worthy winner. Quirky, good voice, staging. Reminds me so much of Queen and I love Queen
Annika Wickihalder is going for THIS IS ME moment. And why not. 🙂 ?
I feel like there should be more color in a song like Life Again
Loreen sung about love in desert sepia 😉
There is litterally a line “I can see colors again.” If nothing else, I would love to see the LEDs light up or a projection on all those sheets or something at that moment.
Tearsdrops is a very classic Melfest song. I would be surprised if it didnt make the top 3 tonight.
Yihaa is kind of a stupid song (affectionate), but you cannot fault the vocals and the staging is cute
Just me or is there something off with Malou Prytz’s live vocal? The dancers are killing it though.
There is something off with Malou vocal. As always 😉 haha
Yes, sounds very off. Even the rerun sounded different
I have no idea what the results will be tonight, still to hear the songs… ideal viewing scenario
Ewa is so funny! Love a good parody opening
Good luck everybody
