Sixteen countries will compete. But only ten will advance to the grand final. Welcome to Semi-Final 2 of Eurovision 2025.

The second show of this year’s contest is sure to draw a lot of headlines. It features a series of very colourful acts, some of which sent social media into meltdown with their risqué themes and lyrics. See, for instance, Finland (“ICH KOMME”), Malta (the song formerly known as “KANT”), and Australia (“Milkshake Man”).

The second show in this year’s contest also includes Austria’s JJ, who the bookies have neck-and-neck with Sweden’s KAJ (from the first semi) at the top of the odds table to win the entire contest.

But before they can think of the grand final, these 16 countries have one very big task: surviving semi-final 2 — and the televote only voting system.

Running Order

During the semi-final allocation draw, the sixteen countries were drawn into the first half or second half. Producers are now deciding the precise running order based on making the most interesting show (considering things like visual flow) and also practicality (the time and difficulty of moving acts and their props on and off the stage).

Running Order

First half

🇦🇹 Austria: JJ with “Wasted Love”

🇱🇹 Lithuania: Katarsis with “Tavo akys”

🇦🇲 Armenia: Parg with “Survivor”

🇲🇪 Montenegro: Nina Žižić with “Dobrodošli”

🇬🇷 Greece: Klavdia with “Asteromata”

🇮🇪 Ireland: Emmy with “Laika Party”

🇦🇺 Australia: Go-Jo with “Milkshake Man”

🇱🇻 Latvia: Tautumeitas with “Bur man laimi”

Second half

🇨🇿 Czechia: Adonxs with “Kiss Kiss Goodbye”

🇮🇱 Israel: Yuval Raphael with “New Day Will Rise”

🇲🇹 Malta: Miriana Conte with “Serving”

🇫🇮 Finland: Erika Vikman with “Ich komme”

🇩🇰 Denmark: Sissal with “Hallucination”

🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Laura Thorn with “La poupée monte le son”

🇬🇪 Georgia: Mariam Shengelia with “Freedom”

🇷🇸 Serbia: Princ with “Mila”

Automatic qualifiers

These countries will perform their acts in full during the semi-final. However, because they are all automatic qualifiers, viewers will not be able to vote for them. Viewers in these countries will vote in this semi-final.

🇫🇷 France

🇩🇪 Germany

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

Now we want to know what you think. We’ve got two polls below: one to name the winner, and one to name the 10 qualifiers

Lithuania should win if we’re just reviewing music and not which gimmicky songs are most “competitive” for Eurovision

Princ should also ditch that nickname and stop trying to associate himself with the actual legend that is Prince, Serbia should be an NQ based on that alone

The discrepancy between Lithuania in these two polls just goes to show that what matters in televotes are about who has you #1, not who has you in their top 10.

Do I have to pick one? Most were so unimpressive, I can’t put a melody to the song title. Those that I can – I only can because I don’t like them at all.

Here’s my silly semi 2 poem:

Wasted Love on Mila will never ruin me,
My faded body is not defeated by the flames,
As a new day will rise, red dawn comes to heal my wounds,
I’m a survivor, I only cry in your dreams,
I’m serving your hallucination of a Milkshake Man like a puppet that won its freedom,
My gates are open, my rocket’s going high,
So kiss kiss, goodbye.

Fir me Armenia is the most interesting to open with, with its upbeat and catchy melody, to get the evening on a roll. I would have said more so Malta, if it wasn’t drawn for the 2nd half. Since it us, I think Malta is indeed better towards the end, it’s either a starter or finisher. And sure, Finland’s hymn vibe and staging also gives “Finisher vibes.

You’re not the first person to suggest Armenia open the semifinal, and someone also suggested Australia, but I think that’s unlikely because if they use a ice cream truck prop, it’s better suited towards the end of the first half. I just can’t see Armenia opening cause I think it’s too aggressive to start the show when I think a brighter poppy song would be more welcoming, which Ireland is in spades.

Yeah I understand your way of looking at Armenia and Australia. I do think Australia is a later-vibe song. For me it’s the opposite with Armenia and Ireland. as I actually had in mind aldo that Ireland is softer and poppy while Armenia is more straightforward “lets go!” So for me, I prefer the more bombast sounds at the evening’s adges. If there’s a slow emotional ballad, I prefer that at the very end. If its softer pop, I like it in the middle. I also got used to this ordering from few instances when the EBU placed such “louder”… Read more »

I actually had a dream that Ireland would open this semi final with a giant rocket prop. It was only a dream. Then I saw your running order and thought “oh, that could actually happen”. I have an awful feeling Montenegro will get the 2nd slot (poor Nina). After that there’s a good mix of fast tempo and mid tempo songs to play around with in the rest of the 1st half. I’d probably put Austria on 9th, before UK showcases. As for the 2nd Half, wow. Lyrically it makes sense to get Erika on first (11th) since it’s a… Read more »

I did originally put Montenegro at number two, but I thought that would be really cliché and hurtful to the country, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually happened in the real running order. So I was trying to give it a little more of a chance. I felt like the UK song would be best placed after a really wild and crazy act as something meta two flip what the audience would think. I see what you mean of having check the last one because the title sounds like a finisher, but I still think Finland will more… Read more »

My favorite is an automatic finalist, so in neither these semi votes. However this semi has my 2nd next favorite, Austria. Then, for now, as I start to gather a full top 10, San Marino is the most jumping tune for me especially with the Italian language dressed on its beat, and Malta with a banger chorus melody which is hooking to be on repeat in dance clubs. Then back to the ballads with Israel as my 3rd favorite slow song, and overall 5th for now. I also find Armenia and Azerbaijan elegantly fun, but see they are rated low… Read more »

I say Finland. At least there is a live performance to go by. (Looking at you Austria. To sing good is not all that it takes to nail it.)

For me there’s no doubt that Lithuania is my favourite entry of the year and I will certainly vote a lot for this song in this semi-final. Other than that Austria is also great and I also like Greece and Serbia a lot.

And even if I was still saying it even before the ceasefire was broken, now there is an additional reason to once again call for a ban of the Isr@eli participation from Eurovision.
