Hej Danmark! Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2015 — Denmark’s national selection for Eurovision — takes place on February 7. So the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of musical unprofessionals — has reviewed each of the 10 competing songs. Next up it’s World of Girls and their song “Summer Without You”. Reviews: World of Girls’s “Summer Without You”
Robyn: This country-inspired pop banger reminds me of earlier Taylor Swift and I wonder if it would actually have been better performed by a solo singer. Groups never seem to do well in the ESC, and as likeable as World of Girls are, the combo of performer and song just doesn’t seem right.

Deban: Another bout of dispensable pop feeds it’s way into Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. There’s nothing distinctive about this. Without the accompanying video, you couldn’t guess the format of the group. Solo, duet, trio or in this case a quartet….Hmm…you tell me! Also, this bubblegum offering sits better in the junior contest. After a spate of endless rehearsals and promo shows leading up to Vienna, the shrilly refrain “…everyone is having fun tonight!” would inevitably start to grate.

Mikhail: A cool and energetic song. I like the rhythm and melody and the positivity. They also sound great together. I am very excited to see their stage performance.

Ramadan: This reminds of country-pop and I’m not a fan. It sounds and looks like they’re having fun…but it’s just a typical American country-pop song.

Denise: They’re singing about having fun and I’ll have to admit, this song really is fun. It is a little childish, but in a good way. I can’t wait to see this performed next week. We might even get a pink hair contest with one of these girls and Alexandra Joner.

Sami: I really hope this is the winner of this year’s DMGP. It’s so much fun, it brings sunshine to Europe in Winter and they also sound great together. I can imagine the crowd going crazy when this comes on. I just love this song and I hope we get to dance to this in the Eurovision final also.

William: “Cherry-flavoured lipstick mixed with wine” is the best DMGP lyric ever. I want to get drunk on it, and I would love to see World of Girls climb the leaderboard in Denmark. I think I prefer “Suitcase” and “Mi Amore”, but I could live with this. It starts to feel a bit flat toward the end, but when it does I just focus on a different lady. You go girls!

Really not into it, Hotel A and Suitcase are so much better
I -really- like the vocal glissandos in this song. If they can sing it just like that live, I’ll be really impressed. One of the few standouts from an otherwise predictably generic Danish selection.

This one’s the best of a not-great bunch; I’m glad y’all like it.
