After almost five months of silence, official sources within TVR have exclusively confirmed to wiwibloggs the calendar for the Romanian national selection, which will culminate with the National Final on 8 March.
Update 23.01: The calendar has been confirmed by TVR.
The period of submissions for Selectia Nationala will open on 26 January and will close on 8 February. A jury will select the finalists by the 11th of February, then TVR will announce up to 12 finalists on 12 February. The national final will be broadcast live by TVR1 on 8 March. The location has not been decided yet, but it won’t be Bucharest. This wouldn’t be the first time, given that only last year the Romanian national final was held in Brasov.
Update 28.01: The National Final will be hosted by the city of Craiova. The exact venue has not been revealed yet, but it is expected to be Marin Sorescu National Theatre.
No restrictions are in place regarding the nationality of the singers nor songwriters. The official rules are available on the TVR website.
TVR also confirmed that Liana Stanciu, who was the head of delegation last year, will resume her role in 2015. One of the main reasons for her re-appointment is that Ms Stanciu raised 260,000 lei (over 50,000 euros) from the Romanian government last year, in support of Paula Seling and Ovi’s Eurovision bid “Miracle”, on top of the 178,000-euro budget from TVR. The Romanian broadcaster is yet to release any information regarding its Eurovision budget for 2015.
Paula Seling and Ovi represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest for a second time last year. They placed 12th in Copenhagen with “Miracle”.
