Slovenia’s two year qualifying streak may have come to an end in Stockholm, but that hasn’t dampened the spirits of RTVSLO. The broadcaster has today opened song submissions for Evrovizijska Melodija 2017. Aspiring Eurovision composers and acts have until midnight on 3 November to send in their tunes.

Submission rules are pretty much the same as last year. It is open to both foreign artists and composers, but if the composer is foreign then the artist must be a Slovenian citizen and vice versa. Full details can be found here and an online application form is available here (both in Slovenian).

The usual Eurovision rules apply and all participants must be at least 16 years old on the day of the first semi-final. RTVSLO have yet to announce whether EMA 2017 will follow last week’s reported plans for a national selection show similar to Misija Evrovizija (Mission Eurovision).

ManuElla’s entry “Blue and Red” finished 14th in the second semi-final at this year’s contest in Stockholm with 57 points.

I hope they send something in Slovenian again, that would be a fun little twist.
