The cat’s out of the bag in Serbia. We already knew that the country’s Junior Eurovision 2017 representative would be revealed on Saturday. Broadcaster RTS just couldn’t wait, though, and revealed the result this evening. Irina Brodic and Jana Paunovic will team up to perform “Ceo svet je nas” in Georgia.
Irina and Jana triumphed in a three-song final, to be broadcast on Saturday morning at 12:30 CET. Their song, which translates as “The Whole World is Ours”, will be revealed during the show.
The girls triumphed in an all-jury vote. The jury was made up of a panel of well-known composers, producers and singers. Saturday’s show will also feature the finalists who didn’t make it, Darija Vracevic and Irina Arsenijevic.
About Irina and Jana
Irina Brodic is a young lady of many talents. Earlier this year, she performed in a production of Annie. Not only that, but Irina is also an award-winning pianist. Also in 2017, she performed at the Berlin International Music Festival.
Jana Paunovic, meanwhile, is a previous contestant on children’s singing competition, Pinkove Zvezdice. She participated in the show’s second year in 2014. In her journey on the show, she competed against Serbia’s 2015 JESC representative, Lena Stamenkovic.
Serbia at Junior Eurovision
Irina and Jana will be hoping to turn Serbia’s fortunes around at Junior Eurovision. The country has two previous top 3 finishes, in 2007 and 2010. Since their return in 2014, however, they’ve failed to even make the top five.
Lena Stamenkovic finished 7th in 2015, but 2016 saw the country receive their worst ever result. Dunja Jelicic might have wowed us with her hoverboard skills, but she ultimately finished last of the contest with just 14 points.
