In 2017 Sweden’s Mariette did it with “A Million Years”, while in 2016 Poland’s Margaret managed it with “Cool me Down”. Before them it was Italy’s Nek with “Fatti avanti amore”, Sweden’s Helena Paparizou with “Survivor” and Norway’s Adelén with “Bombo”.

We are, of course, talking about the OGAE Second Chance Contest — the online event in which the songs that didn’t quite make it to Eurovision get a second chance at glory within the fandom. Some of this year’s 27 entries were runners-up at home —  like Armenia’s Nemra band (“I’m a Liar”) and Norway’s Rebecca (“Who We Are”) — while others finished lower but got the nod from selecting clubs owing to their subsequent popularity or simply the fact they might perform better with an international audience. These include Romania’s Feli (“Royalty”) and Ukraine’s Kadnay (“Beat of the Universe”).

Just as at the real Eurovision, this year’s contest is being organised by last year’s winners. The honour and responsibility go to OGAE Sweden.

OGAE Second Chance Contest 2018: All 27 Songs

  • Albania: “Piedestal” — Inis Neziri
  • Armenia: “I’m a Liar” — Nemra band
  • Belarus: “I Won’t Cry” — Gunesh
  • Czech Republic: “Fly” — Eva Buresova
  • Denmark: “Music for the Road” — Albin Fredy
  • Estonia: “Home” — Stig Rästa
  • Finland: “Domino” — Saara Aalto
  • France: “OK ou KO” — Emmy Liyana
  • Germany: “I mog di so” — VoXXclub
  • Hungary: “Run Away” — yesyes
  • Iceland: “Í stormi” — Dagur Sigurðsson
  • Italy: “Il Mondo Prima di Te” — Annalisa
  • Latvia: “Younger Days” — Edgars Kreilis
  • Lithuania: “1 2 3″ — Paula
  • Malta: “Song for Dad” — Richard & Joe
  • Norway: “Who We Are” — Rebecca
  • Poland: “Love is Stronge” — Ifi Ude
  • Portugal: “Para Sorrir Eu Não Preciso De Nada” — Catarina Miranda
  • Romania: “Royalty” — Feli
  • San Marino: “Out of the Twilight” — Sara de Blue
  • Serbia: “Pesma za tebe” — Saška Janks
  • Slovenia: “Ne zapusti me zdaj” — Nuška Drašček
  • Spain: “Lo Malo” — Ana & Aitana
  • Sweden: “My Turn” — John Lundvik
  • Switzerland: “Compass” — Alejandro Reyes
  • Ukraine: “Beat Of the Universe” — Kadnay
  • United Kingdom: “Legends” — Asanda

Who votes in the OGAE Second Chance Contest?

Clubs choose their songs, and all the participating clubs vote — along with some guest clubs who are not fielding songs. The guest juries are:

  • Andorra (OGAE Andorra)
  • Austria (OGAE Austria)
  • Azerbaijan (Azərbaycan Eurovision Klubu)
  • Belgium (OGAE Belgium)
  • Bulgaria (OGAE Bulgaria)
  • Croatia (Eurofest Hrvatska)
  • Cyprus (OGAE Cyprus)
  • Israel (Official ESC Club in Israel)
  • Luxembourg (Eurovisiounsclub Lëtzebuerg)
  • FYR Macedonia (OGAE Makedonija)
  • Greece (OGAE Greece)
  • Slovakia (OGAE Slovakia)
  • Ireland (OGAE Ireland)
  • Russia (OGAE Russia)
  • Turkey (Türkiye Eurovision Kulübü)
  • The Netherlands (OGAE Nederland)

Voting opens on June 15 and clubs have until September 1 to submit their results. An online results show will air on October 13.

I love the songs by Poland, UK, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Switzerland – but the ONLY song that scores a Perfect 10 on both song, performance and artist is FRANCE!!! The absolute only worthy winner of this years second chance contest. But of course, the fans are all rooting for that massively dull song by San Marino because … well i dont know why… WHY ?!?!?!? And Spain ? Good song, just good, not great – that was horribly performed in the national final and wouldnt have deserved a single point in the actual contest… I never can get my… Read more »

Hahaha ! The song from France got devastated due to mediocre singing. Instruments are sounding much better than the vocals of singer which also need to be of much higher grade for perfect points. So French song is a big No-No for sure.
The song from San Marino is really great and has excellent vocals by Sara de Blue. I think it must win !!
Armenian song by Nemra is also nice.
And Spain ? No wayyyy…

Some choices are bad:
Tayanna should of had Ukraine’s second chance
Margret should of had Sweden’s second chance
Brooke should of had Malta’s second chance
Tamar should of had Armenia’s second chance
Maja Hyzy should of had Poland’s second chance
Ditte Marie should of had Denmark’s second chance
Just to name a few :/

Some of these choices are really strange. Sweden’s pick? Mariette was a fan favourite. Armenia with Nemra? Should have been Tamar Kaprelian in my opinion 🙂

Lol those who don’t like Nemra… do you know how many fans has Nemra in Armenia and not only?
We vote EVERY DAY, despite that fact that our votes sometimes aren’t counting
Let Armenia win!
Only Nemra deserves to win OGAE
They must be gone to ESC 2018
Maybe they’ll represent Armenia in ESC 2019?
That would be one of the greatest things in the world…

Health tip of the day :- Listening to the soothing voice of ‘SARA DE BLUE’ has been experienced to be very effective for healthy heart & mind. Moreover we get a lot of goosebumps during her song due to the release of dopamine (neurotransmitter) which in turn leads to various positive health impacts.

Hey, pretty world, all the people that think that this poll is being rigged, you can see how active are Nemra fans in Nemra’s youtube channel or fb/ instagram pages and I’m silent about the concerts ? We care about our favorite band and we vote for hours to reach to our goal, to see Nemra’s name as winner. So, all your bad comments with wrong contents are sensless. There isn’t any tricks, all our votes can be canceled and you’ll see these results again and again, so keep calm)) Be kind in this pretty world ?? Listen to Nemra… Read more »

Because Depi Evratesil was rigged, Nemra didn’t pass. And what about this voting – it is completly fair, because Nemra has a big fan base, Nemra music lovers, they care about their favorite band and vote. You can get introduced to Nemras music in Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcV3lpPlLl0bHXJ6JzwSC1Q), then you’ll understand that Nemra deserves to be a winner.

Oh god…. All of These People in the comments hyping up Nemra are probably all Armenian but I’m from Germany and I actually LOVE the song. The sudden Hype for Nemra is a bit weird, but maybe they’ll get some Points. My Number 1 in the Armenian National final <3 Also, what the hell are These choices for Sweden and Latvia??? ''Younger days'' didn't even enter the Podium.. ''Just fine'' and ''Esamiba'' would have been a good choice. And it's ridiculous that Felix Sandman isn't nominated for Sweden…
