Five acts take the stage on Saturday 15 February in the hope of advancing to the grand final of Söngvakeppnin 2020 and thus get the chance to represent Iceland in Rotterdam. We have a wide range of music here and it’s rather difficult to chose from this eclectic bunch of both well-known musicians and relative newcomers.

The format is no different than before, with two songs qualifying from each heat as well as — we assume — a wild card chosen by a professional jury. The latter has not been confirmed just yet, but we’ll act as though it has.

All the songs will be performed in Icelandic in the semi-finals, so we’re only showing the Icelandic version in this poll, with DIMMA, Daði og Gagnamagnið, Kid Isak and Matti Matt being the acts that will be keeping everything in Icelandic should they make it to the final.

But if you want to hear the rest of the songs in English as well, you can listen to our Spotify playlist.

Hatari won all our Iceland polls with a landslide last year and now we’re eager to know who you think should qualify from semi-final two of Söngvakeppnin 2020.

As always, you can vote for as many acts as you like. But you can only vote one time. So, make it count!

Semi-final two of Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin 2020

Iva “Oculis Videre”

Nína “Ekkó”

Hildur Vala “Fellibylur”

Daði & Gagnamagnið “Gagnamagnið”

Matti Matt “Dreyma”

Who should win semi-final two of Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin 2020?

Iva’s song is my favorite this semi, but Nina’s song isn’t bad either. Though I prefer both in Icelandic than English but I fear they’re gonna sing in English if they win :/
But they’re not bad in English I just like country’s to sing in their native language(oh just non English as much as possible as I hear English enough)

Iva definitely has the most memorable song. A lot is going to depend on the live performance. If it comes across in the right way, I can’t see anything beating it.
But Nina’s Ekko does not deserve to be overlooked, it is a great pop song.

Iceland’s Hildur Gudrunsdottír just won an Oscar last night for her music in “Joker”. Such a small country with so much musical talent. How is that even possible?

Iva and her song makes me love and respect Iceland even more. So good luck! No other option to me for Iceland this year, just like Hatari was in the previous one.

Iva’s “Oculis Videre” for sure.
For second place, I would pick Nina’s “Ekkó”

Oculis videre would be such a change from Hatari but i am here for it because Eurovision is about being unique and diverse. Go Iva!

Iva for sure.

Dadi and Nina can each get the other qualification and the wild card (who gets what idk)

Either way this year has a clear winner just like last year

Am I the only one who loves Daði & Gagnamagnið? I much prefer the English version though.

If you saw him in 2017, you know that Dadi will pull off an amazing performance. Studio version is more like a warm up for what is to follow when he performs it live.

Iva all the way!! With a good staging and strong vocals, this can go very far in Rotterdam!

Btw, OFF-TOPIC:
Any news on San Marino? I feel like they are the only country where we don’t have any information yet.
Russia, Azerbaijan and the UK have also been very quiet, but at least we have some information on their selection methods/processes.

Russia are rumoured to have chosen Aleksandr Panayotov. And there are rumours that the UK will reveal something on Valentine’s Day.

Yes, I’ve read that about Russia as well. It will most likely be Aleksandr for them. As for the UK, I did not know that. Thanks for the info! 🙂 Hopefully, they will reveal the artist at least.

Azerbaijan will most likely either send Samira Efendi or the duo Rauf & Faik. An announcement is expected to be made by the end of February/beginning of March.

… which leaves San Marino the only country without any further information.
Ireland haven’t revealed anything on their date as well, but at least they’ve abudantly teased a lot. (more than enough) 😀

I would be so incredibly proud if Iva will represent Iceland. She was born in the Netherlands by a Dutch father and Icelandic mother, moved to Iceland at her ninth, and came back to study at a conservatorium in Rotterdam. She said in a Dutch radio show that she worked on the song with her teacher in R’dam. We already have Stefania from Utrecht who represents Greece, but with Iva it is even more amazing. Her being blind forms an obstacle in life, and nobody turning around in the Voice of Iceland was already sad, but then suddenly going on… Read more »

iceland has always been versatile at the eurovision. imagine using the same tired producers every year and being too afraid to explore music genres like certain other countries… iceland said NO to that!

All five of these songs are quite good, but Iva’s Oculis videre is an absolute masterpiece. Hildur Vala would have easily been my semi 1 winner.
