The grand final of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2022 is almost here. On March 12, we will find out who will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in the hopes of giving the Scandinavian nation its historic seventh win.

And now, following four semifinals and a reinvented Andra Chansen round, SVT has revealed who will sing when in Saturday’s grand final.

Melodifestivalen 2022: Final running order

Opening the show we have three-time competitor Klara Hammarström, who won the last semifinal with the dynamic “Run to the Hills”.

Former Melfest winners are grouped pretty tightly in the order, with Anna Bergendahl following John Lundvik, and Robin Bengtsson not too far from them. Another big favorite for the victory is in between them, with Anders Bagge sitting in the middle of the pack with “Bigger Than The Universe”. He follows the first ever transgender contestant, Tone Sekelius.

In the final slew of contestants to close the evening, we have another fan favorite, Cornelia Jakobs, with the impactfully tender “Hold Me Closer”. To close the evening, SVT opted for a big blast of fun, with Medina‘s “In I Dimman”.

What do you think? Who should Sweden send to Turin? Let us know in the comments below!

Klara opening worries me. She must’ve not been that high in the public votes out of the rest of the DTF acts like Ace Wilder in 2014. Hope the international juries will help her get Top 3 at least. LIAMOO my other fav has a good chance of finally taking it out of the bag with that position.

no, i think SVT thought of her entry as the best possible show opener entry wise, compared to the other 11 entries

Cazzi being sandwiched between odds favourite Cornelia and crowd favourites Medina is more of a worry

i am somehow glad Klara isn’t sandwiched between those two

good running order to separate all 3 favourites with some distance from each other

Sweden, you know what? PLEASE SEND MEDINA and their BIG HIT “Ini dimman” to Turin!!! It is a very good opportunity to send A BANGER in Swedish language!!! It reminds me a bit of a patriotic anthem like the Italian big hit “Bella Ciao”. I WANT THIS IN TURIN!!!!! I want to dance and to move my body listening to this GORGEOUS TRACK!!!!!

I feel the victory coming from Anders Bagge in the face it would just be unbearable to see that…

For me Sweden can win the trophy with Cornelia because she has everything to win!!! The Juries and the Swedes wake up, vote for the magnificent song of Cornelia and not for the notoriety of Anders!!

Saturday March 12, 2022 is officially the date I will stress the most!!

Cornelia would be my favorite Swedish act since at least 2015. I can debate about Heroes / Undo / Euphoria comparisons, but this clearly eclipses everything else sent since. It’s just THAT good. A top 10 candidate!
Klara Hammarstrom is a good option B. Overall, I think that more or less the best songs qualified for the finals, but top 2, and especially top 1 are far ahead of the rest.

This order is definitely shaped for a Cornelia win. The jury might decide this as the age breakdown app voting might not show a decisive victor like they did last year with Tusse. Poor Klara with getting the opening slot — a position that hasn’t had a winner since Charlotte won only the regional jury and came second in televote — as SVT really wanted Empty Room to win—a ballad not too dissimilar from Hold Me Closer.

Denis

I think the audience vote will split this year. Last year all went to Tusse. I dont see this happening. The only songs who have wide appeal among all groups are Cornelia and Bagge but they wont necessarily get high remark from all groups. But this year you can also vote after jury vote so things might change there..
Still whoever jury chooses is the likely winner..

Ariadne

The audience voting last year did not go “all to Tusse”. Clara Klingenström received a large audience vote as well, I believe she came is 2nd or a very close 3rd.

Do you think the young age groups will vote for Cornelia? I’m afraid they find her song boring. That’s why I think the jury has to give her high scores while giving low to Anders. I do think Clara and Medina could also win because I think they will have pretty good scores among all age groups.

A couple of weeks ago I thought it was a clear win for Bagge but now I believe it could be a race between him, Clara, medina or Cornelia. It will all come down to how the jury will vote.

Denis

I think all groups will give her points but not necessarily the highest score. Same with Bagge.
I don’t think Medina has appeal among older, think it’s the 3-9 and 18-29 they will get the most. But Cornelia has appeal among the older for sure. They just don’t use the app to vote. In the audience poll they had for the first heat, where the majority were seniors, she got second. So I do think she can get broad appeal

There is no difference in app voting. You get double the number of app votes to change your mind when you have noticed what the juries think.

That they PRESENT how the age groups has voted does not change the overall result. We could just see the split results off show the other years using the age group system. The public vote is calculated the same way as before

Denis

But isnt the problem that there is a second round of voting after the jury voting? That could lead to bias and sway of votes? Say someone gets like 7th from juries, viewers see that and vote for that song and then that song wins?
It diminshes the impact of the juries..

I’m rooting and voting for Cornelia, but unfortunately I do believe Anders will be tough to beat. The problem with (most of) the Swedish televoters is that they tend to vote for the personality/image of the artists and not the song or performance.

Also was SOA for France, Hallelujah for Denmark and Felicia for Germany. They could be irrelevant or useful sometimes, but, in the case of Melfest, the most relevant are: Spotify and what are swedish people saying. It’ll be close but this could be for Klara, Anders or Cornelia.

Speaking on Spotify. let’s also not forget that Spotify is mostly used by younger people. Older people don’t use it as much, they have other ways to enjoy music. So the Spotify stream isn’t really an indication of how well it will go since it excludes a large group. My parents don’t have Spotify but love Cornelia. My grandma likes Cornelia too. And Klara. So I do think there is appeal for all ages for Cornelia and Bagge. But not so much for Anna Bergendahl or Medina

Yes but whats remarkable with Swedish odds is that we know how every song is staged and we know who the most popular are. So there is an advantage there. And these last years the polls have been accurate in Sweden. Even if the winner isnt the outright favourite it usually is found in the top three odds

First round until the jurys give their votes. Then a second round after the jury votes. The votes are added together. You can vote for each song whenever you want besides that.

So you can vote for artists even before they perform? Or later?. If so, running order is not that important for app voting I guess.
After juries, you can vote again free with the app or it’s justs calls and pure televote?

Yes you can vote for artists before they perform. The voting for all acts start with the first performance. You can vote 5 times per artist in the app, but you can also vote 10 times per artist by calling in. The first round of voting ends a few minutes after all the acts have performed. The second round of voting begins after the jury groups have delivered their votes, in which you get another 5 and 10 votes per artists to use. The televotes are never reset so the votes from the first round gets added to the votes… Read more »

I like there’s a second round of voting but it should be before knowing jury votes like Eurovision. Otherwise some people could change their vote and mind if their favourite has no chance or if they don’t agree with juries, they can go with the entry that it’s second or third and still have chances. Or they just wanna follow juries and go with the ride. Bias is there invetibable as people know crutial infomation.
Still many people will just vote for what they like with no overthinking but still I would prefer it was before jury voting.

Denis

I see the problem! This would lessen the juries impact..
Say that Cornelia win jury and Bagge gets like 6th. Then voters will say “poor Bagge, lets vote for him now”. And forget about others..
That might sway the votes in favour of say Bagge and he wins it all. Like if you want 50/50 just have one round and that’s it..

I wasn’t expecting Klara to open the show, but I don’t think it’s impossible for her to win. The Mamas won both the televote and the jury vote in 2020 and they performed 3rd, so a possible win is still on the cards for her. Anders and Cornelia may have the upper hand in terms of running order, but Klara has the momentum behind her. No doubting that Klara is visually stunning but the whole warrior look is rather cheesy. The song itself is hyper cheesey. Many people talk of how Sweden always slays with their contest but considering how many songs and shows we have to endure the overall quality is really nothing special. Let’s be honest also about her vocals. The high notes in particular are very weak and need considerable work.

Norway 2019 or Denmark 2018 were cheesy and good and televote loved them. Including Swedes. I don’t see a problem. Or Israel 2018 with the playful look and visuals.

Klara may not necessarily have done as well as previously thought but I also wouldn’t rule it out since Jon Henrik Fjallgren performed 1st in 2019 and came 4th.
