After searching for the past three months, Israel has finally found The Next Star for Eurovision. During Tuesday’s grand final of their national selection, HaKokhav HaBa, Eden Golan emerged victorious and will now head to Malmö in May.
Over 40 singers appeared during the auditions in 2023. Then after various shortlisting rounds and a semi-final, four acts made it to the grand final.
The eventual winner was chosen by a mixture of votes from the jury and the public. In the end, the final standing was:
- Eden Golan
- Or Cohen
- Mika Moshe
- Dor Simon
Eden now has the job of selecting a song for Eurovision 2024. This will be chosen with a committee whose members include music experts and TV professionals.
There’s not long left to submit a song for consideration. The deadline is this Sunday 11 February. The chosen song will then be revealed in late February or early March during a special show on KAN 11.
Eurovision has been a long-time dream for Eden. She previously competed in Russia’s national selection for Junior Eurovision 2015, finishing fifth in the final.
At Eurovision 2024, Eden is due to represent Israel in the second half of the second semi-final on 9 May.
