ERT, Greece’s state broadcaster, has revealed the four finalists competing in this year’s Ellinikos Telikos—the Greek national selection. They are: Thomais Apergi, Aggeliki Iliadi, Alex Leon featuring. Giorgina and Koza Mostra with Agathonas Iakovidis.
Curiously, all four acts are signed to the record label Panik Records or its imprint Platinum Records. Clearly cash-strapped Greece has agreed to let Panik supply this year’s contestants in exchange for helping fund Ellinikos Telikos. That’s also why ERT reached a deal for the private music network MAD TV to organize and produce the show. Fair enough. We want Greece in this contest even if its economy is tanking.
Anyway, the finalists have not yet revealed their songs, but we can give you a taste of what they sound like singing other stuff. We’ve got a compilation followed by individual videos. Behold the powers of YouTube, and then let us know what you think (and what you know) about these artists.

Koza Mostra with Agathonas Iakovidis:
Thomais Apergi will not sing a dance song. She sings jazz/soul songs.
You can’t go far wrong with a leggy lady like Aggeliki Iliadi who can actually sing as well.
I’m also partial to Koza Mostra’s contemporary ska-like Greek folk-rock sound.
I like a pumping house track as much as the next person, but there’s no evidence they’ll come up with a decent song to go with it. It might be the Greek favourite regardless.
Thomais Apergi needs to throw herself into it more if she wants to focus on voice, otherwise she could probably front a typical dance act.
