Maya Sar, the last singer to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at Eurovision, has dropped a new single called “O meni nikom ne pricaj” (Don’t talk to anyone about me). It’s the fourth single to be given a video release from her latest album Krive rijeci.

Don’t let the aggressive title fool you: Maya is in a happy place. She co-wrote the song with her husband. That’s so awww! “Sar” sounds like “star”, so naturally Maya asked Marijan Brkic Brk, guitarist of the widely popular Croatian group Parni Valjak, to feature in the number.

The video was filmed at the International Portrait Gallery in Tuzla, where there is a permanent exhibition on the famous Bosnian painter Ismet Mujezinovic. In some screen shoots you can see his unfinished works.

What is finished, however, is the fictional relationship at the heart of the song. Maya bellows that she is “almost frozen” and must hide her eyes as she thinks of her ex with another woman. The song is catchy, but it masks a whole lot of pain, y’all. You can watch the video below and then read the English language lyrics.

Don’t talk to anyone about me

May my eyes hide my fear
When you conquer her in your arms

My fear, that she just holds you
While you don’t wipe away her tears

Like I’m almost frozen, now I choose to say
That I wish you beautiful and long life
And there, before everyone, I say ‘Good luck’
When I look into your face for the last time

Erase everything that connects you with me
Only God knows, there’s no end in that…never
Don’t talk to anyone about me
Leave me, let others kiss me
You’re forever hers, let, let it be hers
But I know, you’ll still cry like I will…

I won’t damage everything
That I learned from you
If you are happier
I decided for your benefit

Like I’m almost frozen, now I choose to say
That I wish you beautiful and long life
And there, before everyone, I say ‘Good luck’
When I look into your face for the last time

Erase everything that connects you with me
Only God knows, there’s no end in that…never
Don’t talk to anyone about me
Leave me, let others kiss me
You’re forever hers, let, let it be hers
But I know, you’ll still cry like I will…

Erase everything…

Don’t talk to anyone about me

Leave me, let others kiss me
You’re forever hers, let, let it be hers
But I know, you’ll still cry like I will…

You can’t than notice that Nina Badric left a comment saying “Dearest Maya, bravo, bravo, bravo!!!” Apparently, they are such good friends they are special guests at each other’s concerts.

In 2011, the two of them, along with Serbian singer Aleksandra Radovic and Macedonian representative Karolina Goceva, staged a humanitarian concert to raise awareness of  cancer prevention and treatment. The four divas even made a song, “Moj je zivot moja pjesma” (My life is my song), supporting women struggling with a cervical cancer.
