Moldovan broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) has approved and announced the schedule for O melodie pentru Europa, the national selection ahead of Eurovision 2014.

Thus, the songs may be entered in the selection until 23 January 2014 from Moldovan singers or bands, although collaborations with foreign artists are also allowed. In the first stage, 60 entries will be selected internally, which will be heard live by the jury on the 1st of February.

TRM will broadcast the two semi-finals on the 11th and 13th of March, and the final will take place on Saturday, the 15th of March, when we will find out who will represent Moldova in Copenhagen.

Last year, Aliona Moon was selected to represent the Eastern-European country. Her song, “O mie”, helped by an impressive and most memorable staging, advanced to the Eurovision Grand Final and finished 11th overall.

Update 15 January: According to Muz TV Moldova, one more song was submitted to the selection – that makes it three songs in as many weeks – and Pasha Parfeny and Aliona Moon announced that they would “one hundred percent” not participate again this year. “It would not be fair for the other candidates,” Pasha said.

Who would you like to see representing Moldova this year? And what other original staging should we expect from the tiny, but creative Eastern-European nation that brought us the likes of Epic Sax Guy, giant hats and a drum-beating grandma?

Unlike everyone else apparently, I would like a fresh face and someone we haven’t seen. To be honest, I’m not really a big fan of returning artists.
