With just a couple of days until the submission period is over, the heat is on in the Romanian Selectia Nationala. After Paula Seling & Ovi and Mihai Traistariu released their songs, Anca Florescu is challenging their bids with a strong track, “Hearts Collide”. Her participation includes an unexpected Eurovision connection.
Anca, one half of the now defunct Romanian duo Laguna, is submitting “Hearts Collide”, a song written by Hotel FM pianist Gabriel Baruta. (Told you there’s a Eurovision connection!)
We have to say that the song, which has been making the rounds and gathering a lot of views and likes on Youtube since November (but was only just now announced as a contender for Selectia Nationala), sounds pretty amazing—especially coming from a relative newcomer. The video, which has Kylie Minogue’s “All The Lovers” small footprint somewhere, is alright as well, and the melody has a “Dear Darlin'” vibe that we like, without sounding like a rip-off. And yes, there’s a little bit of “Change” there, too. Plus, Anca is pretty and she can sing!
Last but not least, Anca Florescu is backed by the same production company that sent the likes of Mandinga and Cezar to Eurovision – Cat Music. And, as we’ve seen in previous years, they know business!
What do you think? Do you think that “Hearts Collide” is a strong contender for Romania?

Congrats for getting to the final! Hope they send it to the ESC 2014.
Sounds way better than the other songs I’ve heard since now.
She’s good, but not better than Mihai. Mihai Traistariu is my favourite. 🙂
I like it! She reminds me of Blair Waldorf in the video lmao.
My favorite so far!
Mihai Traistariu and Anca Florescu have much better songs than Ovi and Paula. Great job in Oslo, but this song won’t do it, it is weaker than “Playing with Fire”. And Lea Mar is an interesting option, her song reminds me about Ukraines’ last year, which finished pretty good(thanks for the link Oti).
All of you listen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6fq7gWBQOk&feature=youtu.be that is trying to reach the national final but it´s not so known as the other ones, she is only 18 year old <3
I love it! The best so far. Then Mihai with I’m sorry.
I love it <3 Romania needs to send some fresh sound like this one !
I think Romanian Selection Nationala this year will be harder than Eurovision itself
