Compact Disco has found Ms. Right—and she is totally electric

In 2012 Compact Disco took Hungary to the Eurovision final for the second consecutive year. Their electro number “Sound of Our Hearts” was all about global peace and acceptance, and sought to draw a line connecting all of us.

With “Ms. Right” they stay true to their electronic roots. The sound is instantly recognisable, and it is their own. After Baku, they parted with producer Krisztián Szakos, leaving the three best friends Behnam Lotfi, Gábor Pál and Csaba Walkó to continue what they began in 2008.

Thematically “Ms. Right” jumps into more shallow waters. It’s all about happiness, true love and the one. The message of the song is simple, but at times that makes it sound like poetry:

Sitting atop, I’m all alone,
Watching a dove fly from my home.
Beautiful skies just like your smile,
All I can think is you right now.

Reflecting the reality of blind love, it never addresses whether the lady loves them back. Take note, lover boys. Every girl says “awww” the first time, but after that we realize all the awwwing masks the truth.

And so it is for this dance tune. They have given us a new pop music fairytale, and nothing more. It’s pleasant, but it won’t become an international hit.
