Lara Fabian is a pop star without borders—and now she’s adding Turkey to her list of conquests. She’s teamed up with Turkish singer-songwriter Mustafa Ceceli for the double release of “Al Gotur Beni”and its English version “Make Me Yours Tonight”.

The songs have only been out for two weeks, but already “Al Gotur Beni” has hit number one in Turkey – a fact Lara celebrated in a concert in Istanbul alongside Mustafa, who joins her on the tracks.
Ceceli is no stranger to working with former Eurovision stars. As well as writing his own songs, he has also worked on tracks for Eurovision winner Sertab Erener, including her song “Bu Boyle“.
It’s an interesting step for Lara to branch out once again. She’s had consistent success ever since appearing at Eurovision in 1988 for Luxembourg. “Croire” sold well across the continent and she’s slowly expanded across genres—and, in the process, her pop empire. She seems to be having more success than ever with her latest album “Le Secret” being her first to top both the Belgian and French charts at the same time.
As for the songs themselves, it’s hard to find too many flaws. They’re not ballads that will set the world on fire, but the traditional Turkish instrumentation stands out from Lara’s previous work. It’s also nice to see her stretch herself (and deliver) with some impressive vocals on “Al Gotur Beni” in particular, blending in well with Ceceli’s vocals on the chorus. It’s another sign that there’s no chance of her slowing down any time soon.

@Charles really you think Sertab Erener was “shakey crap”, she’s one of the best winners of all time! I don’t generally like that type of music but Everyway That I can is one of the best winners ever. And I think it’s offensive that you seem happy that Turkey is gone. They’ve only sent that “shakey shakey” (aka ethnopop) three times. 2010, 2004, 2008 and 2011 was far from ethnopop! And you ask when she win do Eurovision too, sh already did it in 1988 for Luxembourg
shum bukur mustafa ceceli and lara fabian
Turkey turn back please to Eurovision
Sertab Erener is ESC legend
This IS how Turkey should present itself musically in Eurovision and not their cheesy uptempo shake shake crap a la Sertab Erener … but since they wish not to be present in Vienna in 2015 … one less problem to deal with. Lara Fabian is an amazing singer and performer, someone who has made her name internationally in a way no Anglo-speaker performer would dare to do .. English may be a comfort zone for a lot of people … but when you want to sing for as many people of all countries and cultures as possible … you embrace… Read more »
I miss Turkish rhythms in the ESC. I hope they will come back. They add colour to this contest.
