Freaky Fortune yearning for love in In A World Without You

Freaky Fortune are back and this time playing featured artist on Greek DJ Nicolas Costa’s new single ‘In A World Without You’.

Though it might be all Greek in production and composition, this song is pure head-spinning Balearic dance at its best.

Costa’s production is absolutely thumping through the first two verses until the middle 8 when it strips back to understated piano play. The beat then rises slowly—and then suddenly under a soaring high note from Nick. Yasssss!

Unlike their Eurovision entry ‘Rise Up’, ‘In A World Without You’ really gives Nick the chance to stretch his vocal chords and the almost gymnastic result is pretty darn impressive. It makes you think what might have been possible without those trampolines…

The visual shirks the normal Eurodance tropes of sun-drenched beaches and parties on mega-yachts off Ibiza.

Instead it’s a more muted, moodier and largely black-and-white studio-bound affair. When colour is introduced it’s to provid a shock contrast. In a couple of shots Nick and Theofilos find their silhouettes filled with vistas of the moving sky, a literal representation of the world without them.
