Donatan, the producer and puppet master behind Poland’s highly sexualized Eurovision 2014 performance, has gone all homophobic on Facebook. His post reveals some antiquated views that belong in the dilapidated farmhouse in his Eurovision video.
“So,” he writes, apparently responding to the rumours that he and Cleo will sing for Poland again in 2015. “We’re going to Eurovision in Vienna? Cause I’ve heard there will be a lot of demonstrations of tolerance. And I dream about making a straight march through the streets of Vienna.”
An accompanying image shows Cleo’s back-up dancers (spilling cleavage in view) feeding him grapes.
One Facebook user responded like this: “It is better not to send anyone than to once again receive the status of “slutty”. Unless you have prepared some exquisite ballad repertoire. In this case, we’re looking forward to your proposal.”
Donatan fired back with this: “Song about 2 gays and their love. Let Europe see that we’re modern”
There are other comments, but they are too vulgar for us to translate for you here.
He’s a real charmer, isn’t he? Do you want Donatan to return to ESC? What do you make of his comments?
Hey People! Donatan was joking! Their statements are all sarcasm.
A gay and a woman. It’s a real family.
some of the comments here manage to be worse than donatan’s tbh
julian lol my comment didn’t prove anything how did it feel when your aram sucked at the final and losed rom conchita and the common linnets?
@jr esc nl 🙂 Your reply is good prove that the concept of a parade for heterosexuals would make sense in the Netherlands first and foremost. If Donatan thinks of such parade it is the only right place for it.
julian wtf are you retarded or something? the reason that aram was booed of that stage was not really because he is hetero you know. and how can we have an heterophobic atmosphere when almost all people are hetero douche.
Agree with most. Only place where a straight parade would make sense is Netherlands which is the country of avant garde with reference to gay rights and a country with an heterophobic atmosphere (see the booing of Aram).
A lot of homophobic/biphobic/transphobic people use this argument that “well, gay/bi/trans people can have a thing, therefore I should be able to have the exact same thing just adapted for straight people.” The problem with that is we (yes, I use “we”. Deal.) are not guaranteed acceptance in our lives or in public, so we create a safe space to reveal our identity. Straight and cisgendered people do not need that safe space, because the world is created as their safe space. And quite frankly, if he is so insecure in other people having rights, he has some inner issues… Read more »
That’s called the sidewalk.
Alex:
Couldn’t agree with you more!
@Alex I completely agree with you there! Straight Pride is every day – they can be affectionate all the time and nobody judges. Gay Pride is the one time of the year where LGBT can be affectionate and not be judged, and that saddens me how LGBT cannot freely fully express themselves and their relationship even in Western Europe. So open your eyes Donatan! Hopefully Donatan reads this and finds the error of his ways!
The “heterosexual parade” happens every day in places where straight couples can openly show affection and discuss their relationships when gay couples can’t do this with the same amount of freedom or without deeply negative consequences.
Donatan can join a “men’s rights” demonstration while he’s at it, too.
Hhe should have told us his way of thinking before he entered the biggest gay event of the world 😛 I bet he already made a flag for his event, all the way grey..
Well imo Donatan created Poland’s best entry ever BY FAR and I would love to see him back, bringing some excitement to the contest.
Part of me thinks its good to still have some extremists in the world so that it stays a varied plays – and he is doing it in a funny way. But at the same time, if saying this spreads these views and makes other people think gays are bad, then its cruel. meh…
Very very good!!!
He’s free to express his opinion. What you don’t like in idea of “heterosexual parade”?
@Nott I agree with you, however @Johnny Rapid: a) I somewhat agree with you b) I LOVE your name! But one thing, bisexual people are just as hated as gay people, and it is also just as hard as them, I have a bisexual friend and he was called “greedy” and “a pig” by some straight and gay people. That was a couple of years ago, but the UK has changed now thankfully. Just to note, my bisexual friend and I are 12, he got called that when he was nine ( how could they say that?) but now all… Read more »
I liked My Slowianie. Sure the performance was sexual but so OTT that they turned themselves into a joke. What is even funny is that Donatan can’t even see that. He is too preoccupied playing the cliched rapper with the sunglasses & the snarl. Being a homophobe is part of the cliche. As much as I liked the song, I don’t think Donatan should contribute to Eurovision anymore. He doesn’t embrace the notion of acceptance. His message is of hate. Strangely so are some others posting on this page. What are these people doing here? Haters do not belong in… Read more »
Can we please move on?
Donatan has got his own views and that’s perfectly fine with me.
We don’t have to agree with them, right?
Why should we even be bothered with such comments?
btw, @MTD – I sooo agree with the first part of your post.
dragvision yeah i think something like that or intervision would be better for him if it bothers him that much
Donatan can take part to turkvysion, this year thic countries take part at music contest
steven if you hate gay people so much what are you doing on this website then i think atleast 50% is gay and ‘weird’
@Steven
Hate against gay people is ethical? Well, sorry to break it to you, but your “ethics” will eat you alive.
Good for him!!! So what he doesn’t wanna sing for gays? It’s a good thing he doesn’t sing for weird people who like men. Ewww! Anyway, there’s no reason why people should hate him.
and what is with him constantly wearing sunglasses all the time .. stupid wannabe tough man .. pathetic excuse for a human being
He was obviously not in the mood in CPH, seeing that the ESC is the biggest gay festival out there. And when they showed hot girls, gays were ready to fight back with “sl*ts don’t belong on the big stage” just to shout in the next seconds “Conchita is our Goddess”!. Oh, what a strange world we live in.
Cut the cr*ap, no more drama, from both sides! But don’t expect me to be enthusiastic about Conchita’s winning. As is he. And I’m totally FOR having a “heterosexual” parade. Hahaha… Imagine the possibilities! 🙂
nice .. any decent woman wouldnt touch him .. ugly troll
Just because someone’s homophobic doesn’t mean you can’t listen to their music honestly. I liked My Slowianie and I like some of his other songs with Cleo, that’s not gonna change. I wouldn’t want him back at ESC though just cuz I want some change, preferably a ballad from Poland.
The sad part about this news is that it is not news. He is a NOTORIOUS homophobe. In Copenhagen he was very uncomfortable with the gay fans
GET THE HELL AWAY FROM EUROVISION ,U HOMOPHOBIC DIRTBAG
Somos gays de Europa y estamos seguros de nuestra belleza
