Last night, Luxembourgish Eurovision fans had a party of their own. The Eurovision Gala Night was held in the city of Luxembourg, with several winners attending such as Alexander Rybak, Loreen, and Linda Martin. Conchita, who was expected to appear, pulled out at the last minute.
According to local newspaper Luxemburger Wort, Linda Martin stopped her set in order to pose the all-important question to a special guest in the front row: “Isn’t it time Luxembourg returned to Eurovision?”. That special guest was none other than Luxembourg’s Minister of Culture, Maggy Nagel. Linda went on further, saying how “it’s time to raise the funds to get Luxembourg back where it belongs in Eurovision”. Ms. Nagel nodded her head and said “yes”, leading to a round of applause and cheers from the crowd.
Although this is just a simple “yes”, it means a lot! Luxembourg, a top country back in the day and a five-time winner, is one of the most international European countries, representing everything Eurovision stands for. We want to see it return for the contest in 2016, if not 2015.
Would you like to see Luxembourg return?
