We will never, never let Dima Bilan go! Promoting his new movie and his two special concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Dima recently went for an interview on Vyechyerny Urgant, a Russian late-night talk show. He talked about his recent weight loss, filming his movie, and horseback riding (his relatives used to care for the Romanovs’ horses and other critters). While discussing his adventures on horseback, he decided to demonstrate his abilities with a sword… In the video below, please skip to 5 minutes in to admire the posturing and lead-up to the grand show.

The demonstration is rather fun, contrasting with this rather heavy effort to promote his more recent work. It’s endearing and cheerful to watch. In this big, bad world, sometimes you need someone to pull out a sword on live television. Treat yo’self.

Dima Bilan is best known for placing 2nd in Eurovision for Russia in 2006 with “Never Let You Go,” and winning in 2008 with “Believe”. He tried to represent Russia in 2012 with former t.A.T.u. member Yulia Volkova (who recently found herself in a large controversy over homophobic comments made on Russian television, followed by an insincere apology). Since then, however, he has stayed away from the Eurovision limelight, focusing on more projects in the Russian Federation instead of internationally.

Dima Bilan has been very busy this past year, with new singles, a new electro-pop duo group, and even a dubbing role for the Russian version of “Frozen”. With Dima on the publicity circuit, can we expect new work from him, or perhaps another try at Eurovision? We’ll see!

What do y’all think? Is this demonstration funny or bizarre? Does it make you curious for his upcoming work? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and Google Plus!

Volkova is not the only anti-gay person in the mentioned duet. Bilan also supported the introduction of that controversial law which is widely seen as anty-gay legislation.

How could you not mention the other Eurovision connection in this video! The talk show is hosted by Urgant one of the hosts of Moscow 2009! 🙂
