Malta is going big for Junior Eurovision 2015! Just three weeks ago we reported that Malta’s TVM will stage a national selection to select their act for Bulgaria. And yesterday Malta’s Public Broadcast Service announced the 20 lucky acts who will battle it out to succeed last year’s representative Federica Falzon (the little girl with a huge voice).
The national selection, which is happening on July 11, will determine ONLY the singer. The winner, together with music experts and PBS, will choose the competing song after the competition.
The 20 lucky singers who have made it to live show are:
- Thea Aquilina
- Haley Azzopardi
- Amy Marie Borg
- Ilenia Camilleri
- Aidan Cassar
- Destiny Chukunyere
- Francesca Dimech
- Kelsey Farrugia
- Sarah Farrugia
- Nicole Frendo
- Christina Magrin
- Isaac Mercieca
- Raisa Marie Micallef
- Sarah Micallef
- Gabrielle Portelli
- Veronica Rotin
- Nicole Sciberras
- Victoria Sciberras
- Rebecca Scicluna Rizzo
- Andy Shaw
Three of them instantly grabbed our attention.
Veronica Rotin made headlines at wiwibloggs after a group of fans started a campaign on Facebook calling TVM to internally select her.
Christina Magrin recently competed in the Romanian television show Next Star – just like Gaia Cauchi last year. Her rendition of Albania’s 2012 Eurovision song “Suus” has been viewed more than 80,000 times, and there are rumours brewing in Kosovo that the “Suus” writer is interested in working with her.
And lastly, Andy Shaw is a good friend of the Junior Eurovision 2013 winner Gaia Cauchi.
Back in March, they covered Ellie Goulding’s “Love me like you do”.
Are you as excited for the sunny island as we are? Any favorites already?
@ Oh Great. Your jealousy means energy dear. And you know what I want to mean. Stay there on your sofa monkey next Saturday and watch the great talent all these 20 finalists have and drink chamomile to calm your nerves. Go boys and girls and show what you have……… show to this oh great how talented you all are. Good luck guys
@oh great – Have you ever heard some of the singers ? So you’re saying Destiny sounds like a monkey ? Victoria, Christina and Veronica have no powerhouse? And they’re just fillers ? Gabrielle, Hayley, Amy Marie, Raisa Marie and Ilenia? They have super bombastic angelic voices! I get shivers when I hear them sing. And you’re saying Aidan and Isaac have no musical abilities?LOL ! People, don’t judge just because you’ve seen a singer’s name a lot of times, or just because a cover they did is popular on YouTube. There are a lot of great singers up there.… Read more »
@jesc fan i sincerely hope you stop dreaming.
andy shaw who? Lol
I sincerely hope that either Andy Shaw or Destiny Chuckunyere will represent the tiny island. Both have great voices and big talent just as Federica and Gaia.
Andy Shaw’s voice felt incredibly auto-tuned compared to Gaia in that certain video. I have high hopes for Christina but I think Veronica will win hands down. But you never can predict the future..
My guess is that Veronica will win since I’ve seen her name plenty of times. However, I am very impressed of Christina Magrin’s singing Suus. Wow!
Wow 2015=the comeback of the nationals finals.

Already more than last year 😉
It seems obvious that either Veronica or Christina will win.
Andy Shaw for Bulgaria 2015…. Amazingly incredible! Pretty and lovely voices
Good to atleast see that three boys out of twenty contestants have been chosen. Our best hope of actually doing well is if either these three boys are chosen ( depending on song though Andy Show seems to be a very likely pick since I probably already know what type of musical ability the other two have and it’s pretty horrible ) or a girl with a powerhouse voice is chosen ( Similar to Gaia ). Hopefully none of the others are chosen since they’re pretty much just filler/bar singers who can’t sing for their lives and have the appeal… Read more »
