San Marino

Ciao bella! San Marino’s SMRTV has today confirmed that it has submitted a preliminary application for Eurovision 2016! Head of Delegation Alessandro Capicchioni revealed in an interview with Eurofestivalnews that the microstate is in for now, but that they want to check “all options” before giving their final and official confirmation. Fingers crossed!

After their crash exit in the semifinals with Anita and Michele and their “Chain of Lights”, the tiny state is exploring how it can get back to the final. Apparently taking a year off is on the table, but it doesn’t seem very likely.

In fact, Mr. Capicchioni says that as they don’t have a national final, there’s more pressure on the Sammarinese delegation to pick a good act. He says that they’ll choose the “most solid, most prestigious and most valid” performer (and that may or may not refer to Valentina Monetta, one never knows…). By the way, we happen to have some proposals for them…

Capicchioni says he would love to see other microstates, such as Monaco or Andorra, back as well. LOBBY, SAN MARINO, LOBBY! Interestingly, he doesn’t mention Luxembourg, despite the Luxembourg-San Marino rumoured portmanteau last year.

Yes Marjetka, we know. Unbelievable

San Marino is, for now, one of the ten countries that are making us suffer with their non-confirmation. With the deadline for withdrawal set for the 10th of October (that is a very blurry line), we still await confirmation from Russia, Moldova, Portugal, etc. We want them, and we want them NOW! Do you want them too? Do you think San Marino will compete? Tell us below!

As long as Valentina can sound contemporary and fresh I am for it. That means giving Siegel the boot. He might be a legend but that’s not a reason to use him over and over. Especially since he seems to be stuck in 70’s sound.

Drop Ralph!
As much as some folks, as myself, may like jazz, it’s not something all of Europe might resonate with even with Queen Valentina.

They can definitely have a national final, have the singers sing during one of their news programs.

I really hope that they will participate and that they won’t take Ralph Siegel because then they will fail again in the Semi-Final, again and again! Take a good composer with a good singer 🙂 It would be very cool if a little state like San Marino would be in the Top 10 🙂

They shouldn’t take a year off. They should just drop Siegel and work on a modern-sounding song.

Please send a song that is worthy to get to the finals! But tbh I didn’t expect it. But I am still very happy, more countries are coming in. I heard Romania also confirmed.

Well i was not sure if San Marino was going to participate indeed in Sweden’s Vision next year..
Maybe Valentina Monetta will possibly return for a 4th time in Stockholm.. 🙂
She has stated that she wants to go to EuroVision again..
(Although to admit,i really can’t stand San Marino’s jury that tend to vote tactically unfortunately..)

Good news, but I hope they’ll get rid of Ralph Siegels and finally send a good entry. They seem to truly care about the ESC, and their contestants always seem like nice people… But their songs are just awful.

Come on San Marino! 🙂
