Switzerland is ready. Earlier in the month Italian-Swiss broadcaster RSI revealed its three selections for the Expert Check stage. Today German-Swiss broadcaster SRF and French-Swiss broadcaster RTS have revealed their picks, meaning we now have the full 19 acts who’ll go on to be assessed at the Expert Check stage on 6 December.

Each broadcaster used their own method of selection. While RSI and RTS used an open submission with closed selection, SRF used a 50/50 jury/public vote, where members of the public could vote for their favourites of the 167 entries received.

The broadcasters’ picks make up the 19 acts who will then go on to be assessed by the live Expert Check panel. They’ll be looking for qualities such as performance ability, stage presence and making sure they sound as good live as they do on the recording. The Expert Check performances will be streamed live on 6 December from 13:00 CET

From there, the six best will progress to the Entscheidungsshow final on 13 February where Switzerland will decide who will get the ticket to Stockholm.

@Robyn I totally agree with you. Time To Shine had weak lyrics and multiple production changes can’t help that. Hunter Of Stars was a great song from the beginning and just needed some fine tuning. My only real criticism of Rykka is the backing track is very cheap , but that is much easier to work on then if the lyrics sucked. As The Last Of Our Kind (IMO ) has good lyrics and vocals, it is much easier to make it a good entry then if the lyrics are poor. Then there is nowhere really to go (Here we… Read more »

But if you compare it to the quality of something that came 6th, then logically the potential is this could do just as well.

I compared Rykka to Aminata, because it is impossible to compare this with other good songs from the last 15 years in the ESC.

Your argument might have worked if the example you compared Rykka too hadn’t come 6th. More alternative and electronic songs have been doing great recently..I feed you my love, running.love injected etc. If you prefer simpler songs that a personal choice but intricate and less obvious songs are doing well more and more. Rykka’s song needs an overhaul and a better backing track…but with the right revamp and a good live and stage presentation it could easily get a top 10. I do find Switzertland often dont have great staging and so yes it could also flop…but it definately has… Read more »

Whole entries for ESC must be generally simple. Not too complicated, intricate and oversized.

Rykka’s song is good only for people who like dull, smothered craps similar to “Love Injected”. These songs very rarely are successful in the Eurovision Song Contest. Here you need something decidedly clearer. It does not have to be a strong slamming, but it can not be also too stifled. This song belongs to category of clearly too weak songs for ESC.

Lol. Evelyn’s song is (in my opinion) bland, dull and unoriginal. But obviously its only my opinion and the song would be revamped anyway. Its fine if you hate Rykka’s song. I like it but i dont love it and its a bit too lana del reyish for my liking but to say its imperceptible and hopeless is just being over dramatic.

Rykka is blunt, imperceptible and hopeless. Evelyn with “Have A Little Faith In Me” always will be more perceptible.

@Firehunter. Rykka’s song is good, and would probably quaify. It would need a revamp for sure as the backing track is a bit cheap but then it’s probably a demo, and would no doubt be reworked. Hunter Of Stars went through several changes before it got to the Eurovision stage. I don’t think any of the songs presented are finished products so it’s pointless saying something would certainly come last at this early stage.

At this moment top 3 favorites are:
1. Evelyn Zangger – “Have A Little Faith In Me”
2. Vincent Gross – “Half A Smile”
3. Stanley Miller – “Feel The Love”

Please shut up with Rykka. It is better to send something that can win or lose than something that certainly will lose.

Elias produced the best song last year, but did not make through so called expert check. What about this year?

Is anyone surprised that all the entries are really bad? Ridiculous that Ramona Nerra didn’t make it.

Hope that Rykka or Evelyn Zangger will win.

My favourite is Rykka’s “Last of Our Kind”, much probably the winner of the Swiss passport. Also there’re other good songs like “Elephant”, ” Ooops!”, “Half a Smile” or “Because of You”. But the only potential winner I see here is Rykka or at least Top 10.

@Robyn: Indeed. But like the Rolling Stones say, you can’t always get what you want. I was prepared for Crispi and Thessa to possibly get the hook. Maybe if Germany opens its submissions again, he could apply for Unser Song qualification. >:-P What I didn’t see coming was the Germein Sisters and Alphorn Trio Fröschental getting knocked off. Like someone says, maybe they should submit this entry to Aussie broadcasting; but I have a feeling it will be a very bumpy ride for them if Dami Im submits a song. My third pick, Patric and Abdullah, and my 4th pick,… Read more »

My personal favourites are Last of our kind and Have a little faith in me but I think we should keep an eye on No Boundaries given Europe’s situation this could be the La Capat of this year…

Song of Ramona Nerra was probably too weak, complicated and oversized. I think now Vincent Gross – “Half A Smile” and Evelyn Zangger – “Have A Little Faith In Me” look most clearly and direct.

@Lars
The Spanish act who qualified a couple of years ago had a Swiss husband and was living in Switzerland.

I am agree that is sorry that Ramona Nerras doesnt get through. She would be a great choice from Switzerland but it wasnt because she was from Romania, but because 2 spanish entrance get through.

I am still happy that my favorite still went to this phase: Patric Scott – No Boundaries.

Other favorite, Yes too Loic Schumacher, Nathalie Vincent Gross, Evelyn Zangger and Rykka.

And of course should it be a typical song from Switzerland with Platzhirsch. personaly i hope this song ending in these phase but doesnt think it will just end here.

since this format doesnt work as it seems, why they dont change it? switzerland is a country that can host a eurovision but they seem so far way from that…

@Winsent Maria Christina, while I respect her and think she is a lot of fun, her songs are not great, they are dated kitsch that Eurovision is moving on from. Vasilije is Montengrin which having followed the platform for the last few years, despite masses of songs from other countries, the vast majority of songs that go through are Swiss singers or at least have a Swiss connecton (i.e residing there or band members come from there). Also, Vasilije has very bad promo in the Eurovision world after his false claims about being in Eurovision/Junior Eurovision and this probably cost… Read more »

“Have A Little Faith In Me” made it through!! ?
But I’m missing “Boom Boom” (Gisel de Marco) & “Alone In The Universe” (AKRIVI, It was the best song out of them!!)

James

@Calum

Probably because she is Romanian, and the Swiss platform tends to favor Swiss singers (I know a Romanian singer finished 2nd last year however she promoted herself as living in Switzerland and her featured band were Swiss).

How the heck did that song from Sunanda make it and not Ramona Nerra?!?!?! She has to send her song to Romania’s selection!

Where is Vasilije?
Where is Akrivi?
Where is Maria Christina?
Where is Patrick?
Where is Gisel de Marco?

These results are awful. And guess why they dont reveal full results – they choose who they like or who payed them, not the one who public wants.

Top 5 of favourites didnt make it through. Impossible!

Only Rykka has potentional here.

6. Rykka

Some of these have potential if they get revamped (which I assume the winning song will be) such as “Oopps” and “The Last Of Our Kind”. Overall it’s better songs this time!
