Spain’s RTVE has been drip-feeding us information about its Eurovision 2016 national selection for weeks. At the end of December it revealed the six competing artists: Salvador Béltran, Maverick, Xuso Jones, María Isabel, Eletric Nana and Barei. And more recently it announced that the show will be called Objetivo Eurovisión and air on February 1. Yesterday the broadcaster finally gave us a bit of music by sharing 30-second snippets of this year’s songs. wiwibloggers William and Deban sat down to have a listen — and naturally they filmed their first reaction and uploaded it all to YouTube. It’s 2016, y’all.
You can watch their instant reactions below. Then let us know what you think of the songs in the comments section.
And don’t forget: RTVE will reveal the songs in full on Wednesday, beginning at 17:00 CET.
The song by Xuso is by far the most catchy and cool, but it lacks totally the spanish soul… It is like sending a chain-made song. Nevertheless, it is my favourite
Barei or Nana, duh, Xuso’s song is just… there. I mean as you just said – it’s Saade 2.0, literally, except Eric has a very distinctive voice. And also, we have plenty of male vocalists in the contest already, with Russia to start with, and even not knowing Sergey’s song, what I do know is that he will surpass Xuso, no questions asked
The songs by girls are far better than the men in this national final which is kind of a shame because it would be nice to see a guy for Spain for a change.
Xuso Jones’ song is the best one, it’s so international. I’m sure the perception of it will improve when we hear the whole song. María Isabel is my second choice. But i’m rooting for my favourite. GO XUSO!!
My choices are, by far, Barei and Maria Isabel. Xuso’s song lacks of personality.
I just signed in to say that I don´t agree with almost anything you say in the video… But that was great. So much fun. I hope you do it for every snippet that comes out this season. Loved it!
I’m waiting for Nana’s full version. There’s gonna be a Part In french and the snippet taken is from the beggining of the song…
For me it is Barei.
Xuso is just Cascada with a worse song.
Maverick is terrible.
I also like Salvador Beltran, but I don’t see people voting for him on ESC.
Maria Isabel is not bad but I don’t like the background vocals.
As for Nana, it is sadly not a catchy song
Victorious = Glorious + Mans Zemerlow 2010 = Bottom 5
My choices: barei and maria isabel
Say yay and victorious are the best!!!
Actually Hugh, I love Victorious too. But my favourite is La vida sólo es una
you guys from wiwibloggs have the worst taste ever lol
I’m spanish and I want Barei or E Nana to win (At the moment I prefer Barei).
Victorious is like a rubish song from the Melodifestivalen, i don’t know why do you like it so much. I think it’s a copy of this kind of commercial songs.
Maria isn’t a good choice. I hope people don’t vote for her only because she won EuroJunior so many years ago… It seems her music is still in those years.
Salvador’s song is not too bad, it’s catchy and colourful, but not for Eurovision…
And no comments about Maverick (the worst song).
I agree with Will and Deban. Maria is so overrated with that boring song of hers. #sorrynotsorry
Shocking, these two always seems to have the most different opions from the majority of their comments on Wiwi. Like everyone is perfering Barei and Maria. But whatever.
People who like Victorious: William, Deban, and nobody else 😉
But a great video idea.
