Eurovision 2016 is almost upon us. Rehearsals begin in less than a week, at which point we’ll finally get to see each country’s staging plans. As always there’ll be majestic masterpieces and boiling hot messes. But for now, we’re judging each act solely on their official audio and promotional performances. Since 21 March, we’ve been asking y’all to vote for your favourite act in semi-final two. And thousands of you have answered our call, with an impressive 28,767 votes already cast. The poll remains open until 11 May, but we’re going to take a sneaky peek at how the figures are currently stacking up.
Ireland haven’t made the Eurovision grand final since 2013, but Nicky Byrne is hoping to break the curse in Stockholm. The former Westlife star has undertaken an intensive promotional campaign, performing “Sunlight” at events in Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The publicity seems to be paying dividends as he currently leads our poll, clocking up 4,061 votes or 14.12% of all votes cast so far.
Ireland: Nicky Byrne “Sunlight”
She narrowly missed qualifying for the final in 2011, but 2016 is shaping up to be a different story for Bulgaria’s Poli Genova. The “If Love Was A Crime” songstress has travelled all over Europe. From Riga to Amsterdam to Tel-Aviv to London, we’ve seen her go from strength to strength. And she currently sits strong at second in our poll, amassing 3,939 votes or 13.69% of all votes cast so far.

Michal Szpak’s road to Eurovision has been filled with drama. His victory over Margaret in the Polish final sent eurofans into meltdown and sparked petition-makers into action. Emotions have mellowed since then, with “Color Of Your Life” proving to be one of the favourites on the preview party circuit. This popularity transfers over to our poll, where the Pole has collected 3,901 votes or 13.69% of all votes cast so far.

Australia gave the preview parties a miss this year, but Dami Im’s popularity remains strong. The “Sound Of Silence” sounds very good to y’all and currently occupies fourth spot in our poll. The gladiator from down under has gathered 3,854 votes or 13.56% of all votes cast to date.
Dami Im “Sound of Silence”
Latvia rounds out our top five. Like so many of his contemporaries, Justs journeyed all over Europe during the pre-party season. And his red leather jacket always adorned his back. Whether the trusted garment makes it to Stockholm remains to be seen. But with or without it, the “Heartbeat” singer is still a favourite. He’s managed to garner 1,825 votes or 6.34% of all votes cast so far.
Latvia: Justs “Heartbeat”
Based on the current rankings, Ukraine, Norway, Serbia, Belgium and Switzerland will take the remaining five spots in the final. At the other end of the poll, Georgia’s Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz sit in last place. “Midnight Gold” has received just 165 votes or 0.57% of all votes cast.
Of course, all this is subject to change. The poll remains open until 11 May. So if you haven’t done so already, vote now!

My qualifiers are (in no particular order) Australia FYR Macedonia Bulgaria Ukraine Latvia Belgium Serbia The rest I really don’t care about since the others don’t do anything for me or they are just really horrible. As an aside Belarus might not qualify making it the first time they haven’t qualified when a Scandinavian country has hosted. Also I am interested to see if the judges will continue to vote down Poland as they have done in the previous two years. I think FYR Macedonia will actually qualify with a good performance and decent points from Albania, Serbia, Slovenia and… Read more »
I really hope Ireland qualify, but there is not a hope that we will win the semi final. That honour will go to either Ukraine or Australia, but I don’t think either of them deserve it. Bulgaria or Latvia should win the semi final in my opinion.
My qualifiers are:
1 Ukraine (simply because it’s Ukraine)
2. Australia (simply because it’s Australia, but I do wish Dami well)
3. Bulgaria
4. Latvia
5. Lithuania
6. Serbia
7. Norway
8. Ireland
9. FYR Macedonia
10. Denmark/Belgium/Israel
These may be the favourites of God knows what … but nothing can compete against Ukraine and Australia …
Lithuania really might be a surprising non-qualifier.
It’s hard one to predict. I think Australia, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria and Latvia are sure qualifiers while Belarus, Georgia, Slovenia and Albania are certain non-qualifiers. For the rest, it is a level playing field.
Right now I think the 10 qualifiers will be: Latvia, Poland, Serbia, Ireland, Lithuania, Australia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Norway and Ukraine
Ukraine > Bulgaria > Latvia
Would be my ideal top 3.
And my prediction is
4th place for Australia (hate the song but oh well)
5th – Serbia
6th – Norway (not a fan of the song but she will qualify)
7th – Belgium (we need something fun and danceable plus Laura is cool)
8th – Belarus (it’s a decent entry dunno why everyone dislikes it)
9th – Macedonia (Kaliopi will slay live)
10th – Albania (WTF qualifier- we have those every yea) / Lithuania (if Attention could be so close to making it… This could easily qualify)
I’m backing Belgium & Denmark to get some of those qualifying spots.
Srsly? Michal and Nicky at top 3? LOL
OK, I solved the problem! About the results, I am both surprised and happy that Belgium and Switzerland are in the top 10 and I hope that they will qualify. Ireland and Poland are overrated, because Irish and Polish people are voting like crazy (like Bosnia and Herzegovina), and I don’t think they are going to do that well. Belarus, Albania, Slovenia and FYROM are underrated. I agree with the rest.
I have a feeling that there will be an upset in this semi and Belarus will qualify based on their presentation (if he goes naked and has wolves)
@Zach
Yes I know that….thats why countries like Albania and Israel are soo low…
The fans have left the building and spamming has arrived lol.
Out of the top 5 I only like Bulgaria and Latvia.
And for people saying Michael has a good voice….. It’s not everything at Eurovision, the song is from 2001, he seems more into his hair than the lyrics…. He should stay in the semi.
Michal is third – it`s nice surprise;) I`m Polish so I`m glad his third place. He must be a Grand Final because Michal has an amazing voice:)
I wouldn’t mind if the top 10 qualifies, but I’m expecting Israel to qualify as well… Maybe Macedonia as well. Let’s hope that won’t be at the expense of Belgium.
In my opinion there are only 4 entries that are certain to qualify: Australia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Latvia. After that, i have my personal likes and dislikes, but really anything can happen on the night to be honest.
well a lot of people from Ireland and UK voted for Nicky on here i guess
also some people from UK, want Malta to flop, well you must never say anything like that, if anyone is sending crappy singers it’s the UK
my qualifiers from semi final 2: Ukraine, Belgium, Bulgaria, Poland, Norway, Latvia, Switzerland, Denmark, Israel and Serbia
or maybe switch Norway with Macedonia 🙂
This is so far far away from the reality. Ireland? Seriously?
Poland and Australia? Really… what a horrible result :c
Nicky will not even qualify the song is so dated and bad. It needed a major revamp and it never got that
go go go dami im . love you
@esc 2016
It explains why Russia is placed at the top of most ranks. They have almost 145 millions people to vote xD
My prediction of the qualifiers :
– Ukraine
– Australia
– Serbia
– Latvia
– Poland
– Bulgaria
– Norway
– Israel
– Lithuania
– Belgium
Ireland is borderline but they could upset Belgium if they have a good performance.
Wiwibloggs, help! My phone keeps kicking me out of the internet whenever I enter your website! Why is that happening?
I want Macedonia, Bulgaria, Australia, Norway, Latvia and Serbia to qualify.I don’t care about the others and don’t want Ukraine to qualify(I’m not Russian ) because their song is really bad and messy and it is like a nightmare.
Esc 2016: Ukraine dont have a god song, ever. And this song its soooo booring. Ireland have the best song this year.
@Nicola
Yes I agree….Poland have a very boring song…but since Poland have 38.53 million people to vote then it may be reasonable
Why is Poland third?! There are more deserving songs that should be in that position. (Serbia, Ukraine, Latvia, Australia) I think its the anti Margaret vote that pushed him up.
@Manne
Ukraine will be in the final for sure…Norway is not very sure but 85% is in
First of all Ireland is out!!
Then Poli deserve the win in this (weak) semi-final and if Israel dont qualify then will be one of the biggest crimes in ESC!!!
This semi-final is very very very weak than the first, thats why we will have many mediocare songs in the final and other nice songs out….
I hope Ukrain and Norway not going to the final. But Ukrain can go out to the stage and fart, and go to the final
I don’t really remember Molly topping the polls, but I very much remember Kasey Smith and Can-Linn topping the polls in 2014 too. And look what happened to them. Irish eurofans are almost as annoying as Spanish ones, always blindly hopeful that their entry will do well even though everyone knows it sucks. lol
These are semi final 2 results I can live with!
Although I hope Kaliopi would advance. I do hope Ireland makes it, and who knows, the fact Nicky was in Westlife might help him in votes in May.
I think Nicky Byrne should win it
every year since 2014, Ireland tops this kind of polls in wiwibloggs and you can see the result :)))
well I’m hoping Nicky will qualify tho
and for me, I would like to replace Belgium with Israel or Denmark… the rest is okay
Australia, Serbia, Ukraine, Poland, Israel & Norway
All the Westlife fans be spamming this poll huh… LOL
Don’t rely or take these small polls seriously cause it’s only the opinion of a small amount of fans. Other polls & betting agencies tell a different story.
Israel,
Ukraine,
Australia &
Bulgaria
How come Ukraine is at number 6 ? The song has nice melody and message to share & Australia is nice ballad song. I m not sure if Ireland can even get top 10 but how people vite anything can happen
Whoo, Rykka’s in tenth.
I guess that really does make her the last of her kind (her kind being qualifiers)
#PollaskiApproved
I really want to fast forward all the way to this year’s contest specially this semi just to see Nicky flop and stay at the semis so I can laugh at all the dumb people who repetitively voted for this turd.
Great result. I love Michal (my 2nd) and Nicky (my 3rd). I think both of them will qualify for the final easily. Michal even has a chance to win, his song is amazing, his performance is breathtaking and he is such a talented singer. Nicky is popular, sexy and his song is so catchy, I can’t see any problem here 🙂
Seriously??? Considering the quality of Nicky’s live performances as of late, Ireland won’t even QUALIFY from semi 2 let alone win it!
Ridiculous voting.
Ok, who’s the troller that voted for Ireland on repeat? Considering the reviews the song got and the fan comments, I have a hard believing Nicky’s song really got 14.12% of the votes.
@David Who
Totally agree! But we can save him 😉
Poor Hovi Star!!
