After two semi-finals full of shocks and surprises, the EBU and SVT have revealed the full running order for the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.
As you’ll recall, each qualifier drew a “first half” or “second half” slip during the semi-final qualifiers’ press conference. Producers then had the freedom to determine the running order within each half of the final, with the goal being to create the most entertaining show.
Grand final running order
- Belgium
- Czech Republic
- The Netherlands
- Azerbaijan
- Hungary
- Italy
- Israel
- Bulgaria
- Sweden
- Germany
- France
- Poland
- Australia
- Cyprus
- Serbia
- Lithuania
- Croatia
- Russia
- Spain
- Latvia
- Ukraine
- Malta
- Georgia
- Austria
- United Kingdom
- Armenia
The producers determining the running order still pisses me off, especially because Australia got the last spot from the first half.
What a huge sigh of relief my Italian angel isn’t opening the show 🙂 Btw am I the only one here who’s a little worried for the UK performing 2nd to last before Armenia? I mean Iveta might upstage them but I’m sure Jake’s pretty eyes will get some girl & granny votes. Shame many polls are predicting they’ll finish around 17-23 🙁 regardless of their result I hope BBC will do another song selection next year
Top 26 – Personal Ranking 1 – Australia: Number one with jury and top ten with televote 2 – Armenia: Number 2 or 3 with both jury and televote 3 – Russia: Number one with televote and top 10 with jury 4 – Bulgaria: Top 5 with both jury and televote 5 – Spain: Top 3 televote and top 10 jury 6 – Lithuania: Number 2 with televote bottom 10 with jury 7 – Ukraine: Top 10 with both televote/ jury 8 – Malta: Top 10 with both televote/ jury 9 – Serbia: Top 5 with jury and around 12th… Read more »
This final won’t be a Grand Final without Estonia, Iceland and Norway.
But I’m happy to see Netherlands (my personal winner).
I think Malta has a strong voice in a strong song it should do well.
Samra should be thankful that she is even in the finals with that horrible voice of hers. Thank god for her authoritarian regime for having the money to buy votes. She is a disgrace to all singers on the stage. She should have been on the death spot: 2nd, instead of Czechia. Or better, she should have been off stage cleaning the stage instead. She looks like a whorish maid. I wish you literally break a leg later tonight, and retire from singing, you talentless wench
@Magt I totally agree with you. Apart from Sweden, the huggest applause in the Global tonight was for Spain! Despite the negative critics about the poor staging due to low budget, it’s a fav among eurofans.
We are in Europe too obsessed about visuals and the staging, more than in the energy and the vibs we get through the music. Even Americans are able to appreciate what we understimate in Europe.
The billboard was talking about her and her song a couple of days ago. It smells to big hit in America in short.

1.Spain 2.Croatia 3.Italy 4. France and of course Australia. Honestly, they are the best of all in more ways than one (music, style, spirit)
Europe has to vote for a song which comes from heart. And it doesn’t matter if country is big or small. Yesterday after 2nd semi-final I found that Lithuania has an amazing entry this year. Donny is singing with all his heart, he feels every note, it’s magnificent. I wish all the best for him and I truly believe that Europe would appreciate his song tomorrow in the final:)
It should be a TRUE SONG contest! Not an STAGING contest ….like a fireworks and special effects competition….best SINGERS and best SONGS should win !!! …..Money Money Money….
Despite what the odds say with Russia, most people would agree that this year is very very open, probably more so than ever before. I like all but 3 songs that are in the Final tomorrow and that’s never happened before since I started watching in 2006.
Poland – black horse
@Damiansport1
Italy is definitely my #2, after AUS. I would be extremely happy if it won. I just love the “Italianness” of the song, a worthy heir to Italy’s fantastic musical tradition. Italy being Italy should be Top 5 every time.
This is exactly why I always dislike Eastern entries: artificial, cookie-cutter, manufactured, imported stuff bearing no resemblance to native music.
I have no doubt Italy will get raped this year again, as they always do since edition one: “nel blu dipinto di blu” one of the best and most memorable songs ever came 3rd in 1958
Full disclosure: I’m Spanish but I support Australia to win this year. #damiarmy all the way. Italy 2nd, then France. Then Spain. Barei deserves a top 5
I would be all for Ukraine if.. 1.- The song didn’t sound like a goat is being tortured. I just don’t appreciate the whiny, moaning tone. 2.- It wasn’t a sad, sad song, and the tune is just horrible musically 3.- It wasn’t an overtly political song related to political events (Crimea) 4.- It wasn’t a clear exploitation of a family drama. My nan also had a tough life, yet I wouldn’t make the pained faces Jamala does because… her plight is 2 generations removed and I didn’t live to see anything but my family’s survival. 5.- Lyrics are too… Read more »
Russia us followed by Spain in the draw. What would be the reaction of the jury and the televote?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HAikbftxzMw&feature=share
@Bwylin
Who was favourite in 2011 when Azerbaijan won? I remember that i was rooting for Azerbaijan like crazy. loved this song
Eugene I think many entries has got better result by telewotes if you compare the positionon before the competition. DIdn’t Italy winn televotes last year? IF Måns would have the last song maby he had won the televotes. I think UK will do better than expekted becaus of their position. I dont’ think Armenien will winn but get better than odds tell us! I think Sweden may have problems whith keping Armenia and Malta after them because of the running order. I think australa would have no canse against russia in the competition of telewotes if Russia would be at… Read more »
Top 10:
1 Ukraine
2 France
3 Russia (eric saade 2.0)
4 Armenia
5 Spain
6 Australia
7 Sweden
8 Croatia
9 Belgium
10 Netherlands
I actually think that Armenia’s draw is good. After all, she is one of the big favorites, and ending the show after a couple of hours can work in her favor. People remember later songs I think, as they’re fresher in people’s minds. This could (and probably will) go well for Armenia.
In the end I think it’s going to be a battle between Armenia/Russia/Ukraine/Australia. Who knows? Previous Final’s (such as 2011) prove that even the bookies favorite can lose 🙂
Top ten of 2016 in a random order will be;
– Armenia
– Ukraine
– Russia
– Australia
– Malta
– France
– Israel
– Serbia
– Bulgaria
– Czech Republic/Netherlands
Drawing out you exact position is the fairest way to determine the running order.
It’s fair, and if your performance number sucks you cannot blame the hosting broadcaster.
Feel bad for Samra with the bad draw – 4th really SVT? You are ruining it for my favourite this year. Still Samra’s vocal were better in the semi final, and she has one of the best stagings if you ask me. Samra really hopes for your support so please vote 4 tomorrow! And don’t forget to download the Miracle Team app to win cool prizes and much much much more 🙂
Top 10 (Roughly in this order) :
Australia
Russia
Ukraine
Armenia
France
Bulgaria
Malta
Sweden
Latvia
Spain
Last two could potentially be swapped out for surprise top 10 finishes, perhaps Azerbaijan, the Netherlands or Czech Republic?
My favorites are:
1 France
2 Russia
3 Spain
4 Armenia
5 Australia
Jumper, Let’s not stick to what the polls say are the favs. Vote for the one who gives you the best vibs. There are so many good songs and performers this year! The most important is the song, the vocals and the quality of the singer as a performer. Let’s make it a memorable year by a songs we can all remember. Australia has the best voice, but she is very static and the song is not so catchy. Armenia is a great performer, but the song is not memmorable. Ukraine has an excellent voice but the song wouldnt be… Read more »
Why people are underestimating Francesca and Italy? Like nobody is predicting this to win? I think she has a great chance
Jumper, Let’s not stick to what the polls say are the favs. Vote for the one gives you better vibs. There are so many good songs and performers this year! The most important is the quality of the song and the quality os the singer. Let’s make it a memorable year by a songs we can all remember.
@simon
Thanks for the link, Its so funny really 🙂
It’s going to be quite interesting watching Russia followed by Spain. The contrast of a visual overdose with the simplicity and catchy Spain. In these years of crisis, Let’s see what people appreciate more! Guys, time for Eurovision to travel south, dont you think?
Slow Down guys and gals… the Netherlands will defy all odds and take the title…!
My favorites songs are You are the only one and Say Yay!
But I think the winner of this year is Armenia.
My Top 5 from Russia:
1 Russia (obviusly)
2 Australia
3 Spain
4 Armenia
5 Latvia
Croatia right before Russia?! Are you kidding me?! This is terrible for them, they’ll be forgotten and this is one of the most solid performances this year! And poor Czech Republic has to go 2nd. Thanks a lot, SVT! At least Australia and France got good slots.
My top 5:
1 Australia
2 Spain
3 Armenia
4 Russia
5 France
My prediction: 1 Spain (Barei and her indie soul are the best of this ESC) 2 Australia (Quality, quality and more quality) 3 Armenia (Great show and great singer) 4 Ukraine (Beautiful and very emotive song) 5 Russia (Great show but it is too much for me, and he is so cold…) 6 France (Great song, nice and friendly singer, but his direct is terrible) 7 Belgium (Sweetie, naif, and very funny. Great and very charismatic singer) 8 Hungary (Strong singer and strong show) 9 Latvia (He is a good singer, is handsome and his show is funny) 10 Sweden… Read more »
Iveta has a perfect place)) Spread the love.. So symbolic. The best choice for the closure of Eurovision 2016.
I would say, there are five real contender this year: Armenia, Australia, France, Russia, and Ukraine. Armenia : not my cup of tea. It’s good for a stage presentation, but for winning ESC ? I would say no Australia : Not so good staging, but killing voice by an australian-asian singer.. hmmm France : I do love France since 2011, but after saw what europe did to Amaury Vassili, Anggun, Amandine, Twin Twin, and Lisa, I’m affraid Amir is not the choice for winning Russia : Good song, but singing with a good projectors has been choosen in 2015, let… Read more »
@Denis But the talked about entries will shine no matter where they’re put in the running order. Why not using placing to elevate middling songs and create more competition.
I think the UK will do better than many people are predicting. I don’t see them coming right at the bottom. Substance wise the song is as good as the other pop tracks, they have strong voices and harmonise well together, the staging is interesting and they genuinely look like they’re having a good time. I think it’ll connect easily with the audience at home and there’s enough there for them to do pretty well with the jury. I can see them reaching 15th.
Of course they want the talked about entries to shine. Nothing wrong with that. Let’s be real here, some have bigger chances than others. I mean last year it was like Austria intentionally ignored all the favourites and gave them bad spots. SVT very likely wants to avoid that. Since produced decided drawing was introduced the significance of late or early draw has diminished somewhat. There’s no guarantee any-more people will remember you better cause you start late. I still think the field is wide.open and Russia won’t be a runaway winner at all. the 12 will fly all over.… Read more »
This is hilarious!! A new country in the eurovision this final! (a joke from israeli show)

I honestly think that the UK has a chance to not be in the bottom 10 this year by running towards the end. Unlike Molly in 2014, which was a typical anthem sung with nerves, this is a fun pop entry that is slightly annoying but infectious.
Go Joe and Jake!
UK will come last once again. Horrible song
Czech republic – Gabriela – Queen singing: 35000 people saw in 18 hours this live singing without preparation Gabriela + Minus One: https://www.facebook.com/HardRock.Stockholm
Racal Last year italiy was the last Song. That was really paying of for italy by telewotes. That was really strange. Russia was also A favorite and was third last song. When i saw that and knew Thra sweden was number 13. I knew that Italy wold winn the telewotes. If russia wold compet as the last act it would not even be interesting. Be the first act isn’t that bad. Take that as an honour. Christer always want a really good upptempo song. If you would se the swedish Melodifestivalen you would se that the first act always are… Read more »
I will definitely vote for Malta and Australia.. Something new and different from the others. Why not !!! Will be a good idea if we go to Malta next year.. Been there twice to the sunny island..Russia’s song is nice but the performance is just ‘copy and paste’ from last year’s winner. Austria’s song is also nice but this year my vote will go to Malta 🙂
I think the any of Spain’s chances have been killed by Russia before them and Ukraine two after. The competition looks like it’s out of Russia, Ukraine and Armenia now.
I know that Christer Björkman was surpried how the ruing order was set up last year. If there are three or four favoriters in the contest it is importen that the acts in the second part isn’t at a position that generades more telewotes. Austarlia is in the same situation as Sweden was last year. Now a big favorite. If Russia and Ukraine would get positions lika Russia and Italy last year, we would have seen bigger inpact on telowotes. I thinh sweden, france and australia are the losers in this order. To be in the first part is not… Read more »
