Over the last two weeks, aspiring Eurovision stars have auditioned on Depi Evratesil — the three-month-long Armenian national selection. The auditions started filming last month and they have now come to an end, with the last of the qualifiers revealed this week. With one final chance to impress the judges, the last wave of hopefuls showed off their talent (and, in some instances, plenty of wishful thinking).
The auditions have unearthed lots of talent and the winner could very well be among this week’s hopefuls. You can watch the episode in full below.
In last week’s episode, the auditions included covers of Rihanna and Meghan Trainor. This week, two auditions included covers of well-known Eurovision songs — Loreen’s “Euphoria” and Ani Lorak’s “Shady Lady”.
Performing the most famous Eurovision song of the modern era, Christina Mangasaryan took on “Euphoria“.
Starting at 24:30, she wows the judges, earning all six buttons before the end of the first chorus. Inga said that everyone was familiar with her song but she made it her own. Iveta was full of praise, stating that Christina’s voice took her to another world. Christina was one of Iveta’s backing vocalists at Eurovision 2016 and Iveta believes that she has the experience to follow in her footsteps.
Later in the episode Veronica Grigoryan covered another Eurovision great — Ani Lorak’s “Shady Lady“, the runner-up of Eurovision 2008. Starting at 49:50, Veronica impresses Aram MP3 and Inga & Anush, eventually convincing five judges to press their buttons after an a capella performance.
Naturally, they weren’t the only qualifiers from this week’s episode. A short clip of all of the qualifiers was shown, starting at 1:07:55, including all of the qualifiers from the previous episodes. This concludes the first round of the competition, with the second round due to begin next week.
What do you think of this week’s Eurovision hopefuls? Could the winner of Eurovision 2017 be among them? Let us know in the comments below.
When this auditions will be closed for this show ?
Hasmik Shiroian the Best!
@Mark
Man, cut me a break. I didn’t have much to work with this week.
Hasmik Shiroian (Runnin’) is the one. My personal favorite so far..
Pollaski, try harder, use your imagination.. if you have one.
I agree with other commentators in that the girl who sang euphoria was not great at all. But most artists selected so far are very promising. I hope they can compose a really good song!
@Polegend Godgarina
She’s related to Iveta as her backing vocalists cmiiw
The Euphoria girl was dreadful. Is she related to any of the judges or was it simply a night lacking talents so that they were forced to pass flops like that girl?
Thanks Wiwiblogs – for posting the links two these music programs every week 🙂 Then we can watch them when it suits us!
none of these spoke to me
gunning for lilit to win
Christina’s voice is entrancing!
Azerbaijani shows were finishing auditions ages ago.
Armenians are such copycats.
@MarioMario agreed euphoria didn’t suit her voice at all.
There are also Serbia’s 2008 entry at 59:00.
The Euphoria girl was very bad.
