In June France’s Amir performed his Eurovision hit “J’ai cherché” at the opening show of UEFA EURO 2016, and in July Russia’s Polina Gagarina and Dima Bilan were among the torchbearers in the Olympic torch relay in Brazil.
And over the weekend Eurovision veterans continued to play a role in international sport, as Russia’s Sergey Lazarev performed at the FIFA World Cup 2018 mascot selection show.
Wearing a slinky red jumpsuit that had shades of Star Trek, Sergey appeared on the talk show “Vecherny Urgant” to help celebrate the winning mascot — a wolf called Zabivaka.
Sergey’s finely tailored outfit, which featured an edgy diagonal zipper, showed off his muscular arms and his trousers hugged him in all the right places.
Well aware that one must coordinate, the red of his jumpsuit matched the red of Zabivka’s own threads, and his dancers stayed on-message with black and red outfits, too.
The singer shared a picture with his newly made friend Zabivaka and the other mascots on his Instagram page, no doubt causing his 1.7 million followers to let out a collective awwwww.
But let’s not forget about the performance of “You are the only one”, which remained as charming, vigorous and exciting as it was in May. But this time Sergey points to the wolf as his only one. Adorbs.
Happy for the Wolf, he was my favourite.
Sergey is gorgeous as usual.
I hope they will invite Sergey to perform at the opening ceremony. He looks so different without his beard, btw.
He is awful. His behavior is sooo fake. Eurovision 2016 would have been better without him.
ESC and football…two of the most great things there are 🙂
@Pollaski Nice that you watch football (soccer) there
Not too bad a mascot.
Just hope the USA can make it. The semifinal round wasn’t exactly our finest hour. And we’re starting out against Mexico in Columbus.
Dos A Cero IX? You better believe it.
I like how Zabivaka dances 😀
I hope he can sing one of the world cup song in Russia FIFA
Love it!
Sergey fantastic as always, the real winner of Eurovision 2016 as decreed by millions of voters all across Europe!
