At the opening ceremony, we found out that Ireland’s Zena Donnelly will open Junior Eurovision 2016. Judging by her first rehearsal today, it looks like the show is starting in safe hands. Zena is confident on stage, with some simple choreography complementing her powerful vocals.
Zena also seems very aware of the cameras and where to catch them. We’re hoping for some killer shots as she gets more animated by the close of the song, y’all! Visually, Zena’s staging seems to reflect the lyrics of the song well. She’s telling us to “rise up high”, represented by the clouds and stars on the screen behind her, with the Earth in the distance. There’s nothing overstated so far and it’s all looking very composed from the Irish team.

Fantastic vocals and performance from Zena. It’s actually a fine opener to the show.
Apparently she is being forced to sing part of the song in English in order to convey the message.

No televote this year! 🙂
First position for Ireland will kill them.
She is an amazing performer! I think Ireland’s entry is a great way to start the show. Good luck! 🙂
