Last year she appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine with her breasts covered only by a wolf — a provocative bid to raise awareness about animal welfare.

And on Saturday evening Poland’s Kasia Mos continued to fight the good fight as she unpacked the meaning behind her Eurovision 2017 song “Flashlight”.

Speaking with us immediately after her sizzling performance at the Eurovision Pre-Party Riga 2017 inside the swanky Crystal Club, the 30-year-old beauty explained that she is shining a light on animal cruelty.

“When I was writing the song with the guys I was thinking about animals because animals are very important to me,” she says. “Their rights will always be my passion. I have five dogs right now and two cats and I cannot believe that in the 21st century in Poland we still have dogs on chains, people wear fur, people hunt for animals — for me this is so terrible, disgusting.”

“I would like to dedicate the song to the persecuted animals and also to persecuted people. I think that almost everyone has felt in life — even in school — someone telling you that you should act ‘like this’ or be ‘like this’. I think you should be yourself and be proud of yourself — so damn proud.”

And Kasia has plenty to be proud of. If you haven’t Googled “Kasia Mos Playboy”, then please do so now.

Editors first approached Kasia to appear in CKM — a semi-erotic men’s magazine whose title translates as “Every Man’s Magazine”. She declined. But six months later they called again offering her a shoot in the more prestigious Playboy.

“At first I said no. But then I started to think that maybe I can also use this magazine to say something important to a lot of people. They agreed to my rules, so I did it. And I’m very proud of it.”

In her official music video for “Flashlight” Kasia appears to be naked as well, and images from the video were used in her live stage show at Krajowe Eliminacje 2017 — Poland’s national selection for Eurovision. Will she return to the fleshy imagery for her stage show in Kyiv?

“No, no, no,” she says. “I didn’t see the final version yet because they’re still working on it, but we send our ideas and what we want to have on the screens and I hope that everything will be amazing.”

One thing we can count on is that her vocals will be amazing.

At the Pre-Party in Riga Kasia had the audience eating out of the palm of her hands as she hit note-after-note of her 2017 song “Flashlight”, her 2016 song “Addiction” and the funky single “Strep”.

Are you loving Kasia’s voice and personality as much as we are? Let us know in the comments box below!

Many stray dogs in Ukraine suddenly disappeared from the streets due to the Eurovision contest. Where are they now?
I appreciate what she does and I hope that saying “animals” she has in her mind all the animals.

Btw – I didn’t know that animals was a part of the lyrical content of the song. I haven’t read the lyrics to the entries this year. but will do. I might skip Montenegro, Russia, Albania and Georgia though 🙂 probably best that way :-p But every year there are some great lyrics!

‘Flashlight’ is in my top 3 in the studio version. Live….is a different story. Her vocals are obviously good, but the way she chooses to sing, very different from the studio version leads up to mostly yelling in the second half of the song…

I’m inspired. And as such, I’ll be dedicating the hamburger I’m about to eat to animals everywhere too. 🙂

Kasia has a similar tone as Celine Dion. Kasia’s vocal range is immense and strong. A vocal masterclass. The best female voice this year in my opinion. The build up to that final note! Wow!

Her personality is just as kooky like Celine also. I love it! She sure has the likability factor.

In my top 3 for sure. 🙂

With the right staging i am predicting an potential “Iveta” moment here.

My comments are always awaiting moderation.
Please search The Carpenters – Bless the beasts and the children.
It seems that if I write about that, is not right.
Do I have to worship Alma or Salvador to be able to post ?
Sorry, I hate both Alma and Salvador.

@D: of course I do.

Don’t read too much into one brief, light-hearted comment 😉

You’re born naked and the rest is drag!

I believe she is honest because her fight is not from 2017, she always did that, and yes, cats and dogs are not voting but some artists like Kasia are not pragmatical, they don’t think about votes and records like Sweden.
Keep sending your message for the voiceless, Kasia !!!!

Great vocal powerhouse, love her song, it’s so dark and mysterious.

The part when she says oooopsie is so cute.
