Europe woke up to the shocking news of a suspected terror attack following an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. To date 22 people, including children, have been confirmed dead, and 59 people are reported injured.
News of the tragedy has touched many, including both Eurovision fans and performers. With many of us having safely returned home from the music celebration that was Eurovision 2017, our hearts go out to the concertgoers and their friends and families.
Eurovision stars also took to social media to share their thoughts and prayers.

I would like to ask Mariah Carey what she would tweet about this appalling situation … would it be #stilldontknowher? Imagine if it has been at one of her own gigs?
Praying for world peace to happen. Praying for the kids out there who lost their lives. Praying for all people across the world to have a clear mind and heart. Praying for the stop of hatred on all parties. Praying for all those potential perpetrators to stop. Praying for them to be instilled with love and peace. Praying for an end for this unwanted bloodshed.
That was horrible! That was atrocious! That was violent!
They’re out of their minds!!
You can’t aim people going to a concert to have a good time! And most importantly you can’t aim children and teenagers! What have they done?
The situation is totally out of control! All this madness around us is crazy!
I’m sad every time such a tragedy happens and it’s quite often the last 2 years. I’m devastated but I don’t lose hope!
My thoughts and prayers to all in Manchester! Don’t let this event affect you! Be strong and continue to live!
I swear, I cannot stand to hear anymore of this news of humans killing other humans. I will do my part to change it and to stop this kind of violence if it kills me.
I’m not joking either. This is my ultimate dream for my life on Earth. I can’t just sit around and read about it and then go out and just hope it never happens to me.
It’s scary to think that in a couple of weeks Celine is gonna perform in the same venue in Manchester.
As a person that barely escaped from the terrorist attack myself, I can only say that what happened is just terrible. There are no words to express this horror. All my thoughts to the family of the victims. And there are no words to express the horrors that occur every day in the world. That is a wake up call for us to focus every day on peace.
I actually live in Manchester and my friends were there. Luckily they are all okay. Everybody on the bus was silent. I just can’t believe these people. They are idiotic people who don’t deserve to live
On 20th of May in Armenia a soldier named Karen Danielyan was killed in Azerbaijani fire. But none of you wrote anything about it. There was no article either. He was 20 years old. How hypocrite, self-seeker and wicked you are. I am not sad about your deaths.
That is very sad, but one soldier dying on duty does not equate with 22 kids who died at a music concert in a peaceful country.
They did not report Saint Peterburg Metro explosion either.
They are not reporting this terror incident in itself, either, but rather the outpouring of support and good wishes from Eurovision stars.
Indeed. We wanted to write about it, but hardly any Eurovision star reacted to the tragic news in St Petersburg… sadly.
It is more sadder to find out that artists only express their sympathy when the attack is in the West…… Terrorism isn’t happened in Saint Petersburg in daily basis, and these artists who express their sympathies at once when sth happened in Paris or London would not do the same in other place. I am starting to believe that all these sympathies on social media is not very genuine..
I feel bad for the lost life of the Armenian soldier but you are very disrespectful when you assault people in a deep sorrow with your words. I just don’t believe the rest of your nation stand with you and your thoughts. I think they feel ashamed. And so should you.
Yes, the whole nation stands with the people in the U.K. He’s either an Azeri troll or a person who just expresses anger of being ignored by the international community which still praises Aliyev’s Sxerbaijan where people are called in for questioning for voting for Armenia and beheading them.
Grief is not competitive. Every innocent human life lost, wherever in the world and for whatever reason, is to be mourned.
The reason, I think, why this attack seems to have attracted such a reaction from ESC stars and fans is that it took place at an entertainment event. It could have been Eurovision itself.
It is normal and human to feel more connection to some of these atrocities than to others. That does not mean, however, that sadness over the loss of human life should be any more or less. Everybody surely understands that.
Guys, please, we are currently at war. The soliders are killing from both side. Terror attacks are not something like that.
_________
I hope there will be world where no terror attacks happen. Thankfully, terror attacks never happen in Azerbaijan. It is really bad. Imagine you just walk, then something stupid ends your life. 🙁
*the soliders are DYING. :d OMG, I read too many “kill”, and it was stuck in my head lol.
Although I am very sad and I my heart is with them, it’s also a bit annoying
Here, in Israel, it happens pretty much everyday but it doesn’t seem like so many people care but when it happens in other places, it’s a huge tragedy…
Events like this are a tragedy wherever they occur. This is not a competition.
Even if it were a competition, I would want to lose
People all around the world are all posting how sad they are for the people in Manchester but they pretty much never do that for Israel and it happens every day here, whether a jewish person died or not (it doesn’t matter anyway, death is death)
It feels like they don’t care about the people who are dying here…
Yeah, get lost dude.
I’m in Brazil. There’s violence here too. People die every day, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about others across the world. Peace to everybody.
*there are..
Well that’s the thing: while it happens every day in Israel, it DOESN’T happen every day in Manchester, Paris, Brussels, etc. I’m not saying that the deaths in Manchester are worth more than the deaths in Israel (they’re not, an innocent death is an innocent death), but I kinda understand why people are more shocked for Manchester than for Israel (who has basically been at war for 60 years).
Peace for everyone, everywhere.
My prayers are with the bereaved. Terror has no border and no excuse. Armenia mourns this tragedy.
I am incredibly sad we live in the world in which this sort of tragedy happened several times in few years. May all those who are affected by this receive my sincere condolences.
This also caused Ariana to cancel the remainser of the tour. However, she and her team are somewhat planning to re-evaluate the touring schedule when she’s emotionally ready.
http://m.tmz.com/#article/2017/05/22/ariana-grande-suspends-world-tour-bombing-terrorism/
Absolutely understandable. We can’t even imagine what this poor girl must be going through emotionally right now.
I hope she doesn’t cancel the tour. Life has to go on.
I think it would be better if the tour does get cancelled…
Why?
Do you think ariana grande isn’t devastated by all the deaths on her own tour and all the fans that died because they wanted to see her. The rest of the “dangerouse woman” tour would just leave a bad taste in people’s mouth and i can’t imagine parents bringing their children to the next concert with a comfortable feeling, neither can i imagine ariana wanting to continue.
Ariana could continue the Dangerous Woman Tour via satellite! 🙂
Understandable. She must be traumatized by the event. People for some reason expect artists to be 100% emotionally available all the time, but her health should be her priority now.
A little bit of rebranding is probably necessary. I don’t see why people should stop doing what they do just because of an event such as this that was entirely not their fault. Have you put your life on hold because of what happened in Manchester?
Terrorists are cowardly parasites. Leave this Earth. Nobody wants you here. No one will miss you. You f…cking losers.
This happening in the Middle East on daily basis and nobody give a fck , but when it happens in Europe everybody lose their minds , REST IN PEACE
I am very sad that 20 kids die at concerts in the Middle East on a daily basis…
Seriously though, please be respectful. If you don’t have anything nice to say, it’s better to refrain from saying anything at all.
I said rest in peace , that isn’t nice ? Ok then…
I just wanted to point out that this happens there whole bloody time and Europe just don’t care at all , they only care for European lives , btw. this will continue to happen all around the Europe , because of Merkel and muppets like her , peace to you
People have come to expect that kind of thing in the Middle East so it’s not shocking to them that it happens regularly. In Europe this type of thing is extremely shocking because it isn’t common. Either way, killing is wrong and it’s not right in the Middle East, Israel, North Korea, England, or any other place on Earth.
It so easily could have been Eurovision….
The thought alone is frightening.
Yeah, it totally is… :'(
No it couldn’t have been. The security around Eurovision is extremely tight. People were advised to come to the shows 2.5 hours earlier. We had airport style security checks and several cordons of police before we even got to the arena. I never felt safer.
Exactly. The arena in Manchester is right above a major train station. You can walk right from the street, through the station and right into the foyer (where the bomb went off) without a single security check. The security at Eurovision is so tight the chances of an attack occurring are almost nil
I’m sorry to disagree, Bodgan, but I don’t think Eurovision would be immune to terrorist attacks because those monsters are extremely cunning and may fool even the best of security schemes. The UK is well known for its excellent intelligence services and I’m sure Manchester Arena would have taken all the necessary measures to assure the safety and security of those 20,000 people (even more spectators than in Eurovision itself!). And in spite of that, those evil creatures still manage to find a breach in security… Let’s hope such a horrible thing will never happen to Eurovision nor to any… Read more »
I doubt the 20,000 spectators were searched like we were searched in Kyiv. Just saying. Let’s not scare people off enjoying Eurovision.
What is the solution?
Dispicable and sickening. This attack was targeted towards innocent children. I can’t even begin to imagine how the victims parents must feel.
Hopefully there won’t be any more deaths following this attack.
(It’s just as inappropriate to use this tragedy to continue your unnecessary hatred towards your least favorite Eurovision act and their “flop songs”. Shame on you.)
It’s inappropriate to promote your song on this occasion first and foremost.
Oh, please, this sarcasm is really uncalled-for! Only Lindita’s fans and some ESC aficionados will even know that those are lines from her song. So how could she use them intentionally for “promotional” purpose? She probably really believes that her song sais something deep and meaningful about the situation. Yes, in reality the song may be hollow and superficial. But is it completely impossible, that Lindita sees this differently? Why can’t you just give her the benefit of the doubt?
Polegend: Do you think you could just *** off for one day with your constant tiresome bigotry and cynicism?
I don’t think she meant wrong. Relax.
The reaction on social media has been really aggravating you have got people who are actually going out of their way to blame Ariana for what happened. SHE HAD ABSOLUTLEY NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, I BET SHE’S MORE TORN UP THAN MOST OF THE FAMILIES, ALL SHE WANTS TO DO IS SING AND SEE THE JOY OF HER FANS AND THIS S**T HAPPENS, HOW WAS SHE TO KNOW THAT THERE WAS SOME UTTER DOUCHELORD WITH A EXPLOSIVE DEVICE WATING FOR THE RIGHT EXACT MOMENT TO SET THE DAMN THING OFF AND TERRIFY THE THE ABSOLUTE F*****G S**T… Read more »
Ariana is absolutely not to blame. Whoever is blaming her is sick in mind.
Lindita is so out of place for promoting her flop song with this tragedy…
I couldn’t disagree more.
Perhaps if the perpetrators of this crime had really listened to and understood the lyrics to the song, there would not have been these deaths.
Never underestimate the power of a song. Dare I say “Imagine.”
If the terrorist had listened to this he’d be deaf but not less determined to do what he did. A song won’t convince terrorists.
Shameful. 🙁
Just woke up at 5 am this morning and when a switched on the TV this was the shocking sad headline on BBC News .Terrible, just terrible.
