It’s been two weeks since Benjamin Ingrosso won Melodifestivalen, but for the third week in a row it is FELIX SANDMAN who has topped the Swedish charts with “Every Single Day”.
Samir & Viktor‘s “Shuffla” moves up one spot to #2, while Ingrosso’s winning song “Dance You Off” slips one spot to #3.
Does this mean FELIX would have won had he perhaps performed earlier in the contest before being sent to Andra Chansen, giving the song more time to build?
It’s difficult to say. But it’s clear that Felix has struck a chord with the Swedish public and local radio stations. He’s also won over a wide swathe of the Eurovision community.
SANDMANERS in the UK will be pleased to know he’ll perform at the London Eurovision Party on April 5th. He joins a line-up that includes his bromance partner in crime — Sweden’s Eurovision 2018 entrant Benjamin Ingrosso.
Producers behind Melodifestivalen faced plenty of criticism this year about songs not being up to par for Melodifestivalen. However, with a Mello song on top for three weeks now, and with 15 entries still going strong in the Top 100, the songs have proven to be a chart success.
SVT Melodifestivalen in-house blogger, Gustav Dahlander, says this year had more radio-friendly songs, which strayed from people’s traditional expectation of the contest. Given the chart success the songs are experiencing this year, we can only think that record companies will put even more into their entries next year and perhaps draw some big names to the national selection.
Mendez is the last Melfest act who remains in the top ten. He’s there with his song “Everyday”, which is charting at #6. Margaret comes in at #12 with “In My Cabana”, LIAMOO is hot on her tail with “Last Breath” at #13 and John Lundvik comes in at #15 with “My Turn”.
It’s very interesting to note that 6 of the 7 songs in the Top 25 were also in the Top 6 of the public vote at the contest, except for Margaret. Despite the chart success of “In My Cabana”, and the international jury placing her in the Top 5, she came third last, or 10th from the public vote, barely edging out Martin Almgren.

Would FELIX have won Mello if his song was out earlier? What do you think of the new trend of radio-friendly songs? Let us know in the comments below.
So thankful we’re sending Benjamin and not Felix or anyone else of the alternatives. It gives such a confident feeling. He will be a pro on stage and he knows how to behave himself in various social events. Pretty sure he will end up top 10 at least. Of course we want to win, but do SVT actually deserve it after that 6 weeks catastrophe we had to endure?
Gillar både Felix och Benjamin och övertygad nåda skulle bli top 10.

Best interwiew. About his broken heart after the break up. Talking abot how his mother tried to force him up from the floor, when he was in a total mess. How the song is all about when he was mentally ill.
About that the girl the song is all about actually worked at melfest 2018 as a dancer.
Tack för tipset : )

When Felix and Benjamin lived in LA. Benjamin made the dinner and Felix washed the dishes.
Eugene. Do you remember how you predicted Frans 2016. I am maby wrong, but I think you wrote that sweden would end top 10 only thanks to the jury. But in the ens Frans did better whith the telewotes than the jury.
Am I wrong. But I feel that you really don’t like sweden.
Love, love, peace, peace from Sweden
Read more »
oavsett vem man väljer blir det fel. det är en damned if you do, damned if you don’t mentalitet.
Read more »
Read more »
Yeah, I’d be very sceptical of so-called “polls”. They are hardly a representative cross-section of the typical Eurovision audience.
Same polls also predicted Fabrizio would win with a major landslide last year. Same polls also predicted Jessica Andersson would win this years MF or battle it out with Ingrosso.
Polls should be taken with a big punch of salt. Just because they predict something doesn’t mean it will be so. Laying that much into it is never a good idea.
Sweden this year will do better than Robin Bengtsson. He will reach top 10 with both juries and tele vote. That is for sure
I also think Benjamin will do better than Robin, this song has better beat for public. 🙂 And jury will love it, it is just pure aesthetic, with performance like music video 🙂 I have never liked Robin’s entry, but I love this year’s entry so much
Also Frans was hated back then, same like Benjamin this year, and he did better with televote than Robin, he was 6th, Robin 8th 🙂 And it was most listened Eurovision track that year 🙂
FELIX SANDMAN had the best song this year, the most real and authentic one, and I sincerely think that he deserved to win this time. I’m sure he would have slayed it in Lisbon (we can realise a lot just by the fact he is yet loved by the ESC public even without having entered the competition). I hope he tries at Mello for the third time next year, but I fear that maybe he got tired about it all…
I’m happy for him. He’s a sweet guy with a good song. I wish him continued success and I hope this isn’t his last number one or top 10 song.
Look! I just want Renaida, okay!?! I just wanted her to win MelFest! Is that too much to ask?
people always seem to underestimate Sweden these days. or seems to wishing it won’t reach top 10 because “they don’t deserve it” or because whatever.
Polls shouldn’t be taken that seriously, it is not an prediction of success. in 2016 and 2017 Sweden did better than predicted in polls despite people being sure they wouldn’t even reach top 10. Because the polls told them so!
It is impressive enough for casuals to vote for it. For a lot of people, Eurovision is just a show, and Benjamin brings a good one on the visuals department. I don’t like the song too, but this is fairly predictable. Same with Rybak, that staging and charisma alone is going to get him to the top 10 with that… thing he calls song.
Lots of peole said Bengtsoon would be Top 10 last year, some even said Top 3 or winner. I thought he would do better with the televoting tbh, he had a good running order and eye-catching staging. I think he was 3rd with the OGAE poll too.
About Frans, I agree. There was a lot of hate and “predictions of flopping”.
Well, you can call it a songcontest or what ever. How we vote in the end is up to every singel persons choice. Somtimes I prefer how the song talk to my feelings, sometimes it’s the melody and lyric, sometimes it’s the voice, sometimes the song makes me hoppy and I don’t care if it’s silly.
Felix’ song would’ve been a hit at Eurovision!!!
Ok, I’m listening to this song for the first time and all I have to say is…WFT SWEDEN! lmao
Srsly, People keep saying this is a weak ESC year, but let’s be honest, a lot of countries sabotaged themselves…Sweden, Latvia, Romania, Italy…
Sweden and Latvia did so yes! by sending the safe jury friendly entry instead of the televote friendly ones (Felix and Sudden Lights)
Italy did it right to my view. They don’t vote thinking of Esc and I’m not sure sending Una Vita en Vacanza just the year after Occidentali’ Karma was the right move to do.
Felix Sandman and the Sudden lights are my two favourite National final Acts of the whole Season… Latvia and Sweden both f*cked it up.
The Italian delegation should’ve picked The Kolors, even though I think Ermal and Moro could be dark horses this year. Sudden Lights would’ve been another flop, imo, and Laura won the televoting. I think Madara had the best song in Latvia.
For Romania, that televoting count was a hot mess.
But ofc, just speculating…
Don¨t think we sabotaged for ourselves. The selection wasn’t weak, the songs were better than in 2017 and does much better on the charts, and the right song won because both juries and voters thought he was the best to represent us.That agreement rarely happens. Last time was in 2015.
Further proof that Sweden votes for the performance and not for the best song. Every Single Day is the best.
I’m still pissed that horrible song won over such gems. “My Turn”, “Party Voice”, “Last Breath”, “In My Cabana”… all in my playlist.
I’m still mad that he didn’t win…. He would’ve ended up in my top 5 for sure. Would have been the first time for me EVER voting for Sweden.
I really wanted to vote for him and Sweden as well.
I think Felix would have been Top 3 with German televote. (Like Frans or Blanche)
Benji will not. (He might not be even Top 10 like Robin)
But you know he will be top 5
Yes Ik. He will problaby be Top 3 with juries along with Australia. That’s your strength which is fine, but Sweden needs to change its strategy if you wanna win the televote again.
Well, our strategy is that everyone is free to vote for the song they like. It’s not our gouvermet or special group of people that choose the song you know.
That’s great news, go Felix! <3
Felix deserves this and more. Such a beautiful song. Truth always win.
Every Single Day would have been this year Eurovision Hit for sure.
this song could have won the eurovision!!
the only song from melfest 2018 that i will be able to listen for next years
Reminds me of Empty Room ten years ago.
Some songs win MelFest, others win our hearts.
If Felix had won, it would have been my top ESC 2018 song. I love it every time I hear it.
Sweden has been sending wrong entries since 2016. They should’ve sent:
2018: Felix Sandman
2017: Jon Henrik & Aninia
2016: Oscar Zia
As if we have the same 3 winners haha
OMG! Exactly!
Yeah I do wish he won but at least he’s enjoying success. Glad to see such a heartfelt song do well in Sweden.
