She’s the queen of Maltese pop music who was Eurovision runner-up in 2002. Her return to Eurovision in 2016 resulted in her winning the jury vote in her semi-final. Since then, she has become a mother and collaborated with a rap star.
More recently, the two-time Eurovision veteran Ira Losco is marking her 15 years in the music industry with a double album scheduled for release in May 2018. “One In A Million” — the first single from the forthcoming LP — dropped this week.
It’s a poignant piano-led ballad that pulsates with an EDM beat. Produced by her longtime collaborator Howard Keith, the modern production is pared back and allows Ira’s vocals to take centre stage. A raspy spoken word segment signifies the bridge of the song. Beneath the subtle touches there is drama!
Speaking exclusively to wiwibloggs, Ira explains:
‘My 15 year journey has been an exciting one. I love rediscovering myself, writing about and living experiences with fresh eyes, an open mind and above all, with new found knowledge and maturity. My Eurovision experience in 2016 was different in many ways, and I wanted to reinvent myself another time after that. This double album has giving me the opportunity to bring an all new Ira Losco onto the airwaves.’
