As Saara Aalto entered the seventh week of Dancing on Ice, fans from her native Finland have been watching and supporting her every week. And they’ll be breathing a huge sigh of relief as their former Eurovision star avoided Sunday night’s double elimination.
This weekend’s Judges’ Challenge was all about synchronicity. Within the celebrities’ routines, they had to include a synchronised section with them side by side and in a straight line without touching each other, and also a double twizzle.
Saara and Hamish attempted a trick that’s never been done on Dancing on Ice before. Similar to the headbanger, it involved Hamish swinging Saara around from her skating blades. Despite hurting her head and back during the dress rehearsal, it all paid off on the night.
As for the scores from the Ice Panel, Jason and Ashley both awarded a 7.5. Jayne gave the lowest mark of the night with a 7, followed by an 8 from Christopher — the highest mark of the night.
As usual, it was then up to the voting public to make their minds up. And that was enough to ensure Saara avoided being one of three celebrities to end up on the dreaded skate-off and safely through to next week’s show.

I want to see her next year for Finland!
Saara was amazing! I bet she will get second. I call this the “Saara-Aalto-phenomenon” (one person getting 2nd in all shows) 😀
