Better Love lyrics — Katerine Duska
Live for the mess
Make me feel ageless
No pain, no gain
Teach me carelessness
And I’m about to see all that’s made up
And everything they want from us
No pain, no gain
Once bitten, make way
And I can’t hide it
I won’t fight this
Yearning feeling inside
Gotta get
Better love, better love
All that we’re after
Way to love, who you love
There’s nothing more to say to back it up when I’m
unafraid, I‘ve lost enough
Go on, hold on for dear life
‘Cause I can’t hide it
I won’t fight this
Burning feeling inside
Gotta get
Better love, better love
All that we’re after
Way to love, who you love
Won’t you lean on me
You can lean on me
Let them look, don’t know, don’t care
Go deep with me
Go deep with me
Go deep with me
Better love, better love
All that we’re after
Way to love, who you love
What you waiting for, what you waiting fo-or, what you waiting for?
Better love, who you love
So what’s it all mean?
The “Better Love” lyrics are powerful, and don’t shy away from the intensity — and dare we say “madness” — that comes with love. Katerine speaks of all-consuming feelings — the “burning feeling inside” — and learning to deal with the heat. Yes, there’s pain, but there also gain. Sometimes you have to burn to be reborn.
The theme works on multiple levels. For some the song will no doubt reflect the sensation of diving into an intense relationship. For others the text may resonate for invoking the adversity of a relationship. At times she’s “holding on for dear life” and she simply can’t hide it. There’s even a case to be made for tensions stirred by those outside the relationship. As she sings: “Let them look, don’t know, don’t care, go deep with me.”
The repetition of “Better Love” and the all-encompassing lyrics suggest an upbeat melody — something fans have made clear that they crave in this year’s contest. Greece does upbeat very well, as proven by the likes of finalists Eleftheria Eleftheriou, Freaky Friday & Risky Kidd and Demy. And, of course, Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou.
Stick with what works…
Greece failed to qualify last year for the second time. In both instances it sent a Greek-language song. So it’s hardly surprising that Miss Duska has elected to sing in English. Whilst we love hearing Greek at Eurovision, it just isn’t getting them the votes they need these days. What does often work, however, is the inclusion of ethnic elements and sounds. We’re hoping “Better Love” will include plenty of Greek flavour.
We heard a snippet last week, and it sounds ethereal and atmospheric. This could lead to a big chorus, or be a softer take, but we’ll have to wait until the 7th to hear it in full! With their neighbours Cyprus also releasing their hotly-anticipated track “Reply” this week, we are all in for the Mediterranean brothers.
Which direction do you think “Better Love” will take? What do you think the lyrics allude to, and what do they mean to you? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter too.
having heard it now compared to other acts i hope it wins the whole thing
Yeah, Freaky Fortune, not Freaky Friday the movie…
katerine said that is a mid tempo pop song with european sound
Indeed it is.
I feel that Greece is going to serve quality for the first time in many years
I sure am hoping it’s good! Fingers crossed. 😀
i have high expectations from this. i don’t wanna drink greek tears for months if they fail to qualify
Freaky Friday? Not Freaky Fortune?
Maybe a South Europ contenders this year for the victory?? with Italy.Spain.Greece?? can be amazing
The grannys from Rusia was also a pueblo party song and they was second so???
spain is a contender for last place girl
I don’t care about the lyrics. The song is the one that matters the most. I hope it’s a modern and unique track.
I’m hype
Yeah, it is sad. Yianna was sold to us last year as someone with experience. In reality, she had little experience singing live, and it showed in her performance.
Still, I don’t want to be critical of Yianna. She does write good songs, and she certainly has a good voice. She just should have strategized a bit differently given her capabilities at that time. For example, don’t go on your knees for that high note!
I seriously doubt it will be a Demy’s kind upbeat, or even Eleftheria’s Eleftheriou. I ‘m highly optimistic for something out of Greece’s box
I think it’s going to be a bit more downtempo, still pop-ish but very contemporary and sensual
No one cares. Can Greece and the other countries just release their goddamn songs already? Waiting for the last day as if that gives you any advantage, so depserate.
The song 2 weeks ago was still in the works, they had only a demo and were improving it in London. Last week they filmed the video clip. The song drops tomorrow night, have a little patience.
Greece was one of my favourites, so magical…
Then the live show came up and the dream was shattered like my windows after Estonia.
At first I was a bit disappointed, cause I thought the text isn’t that sophisticated as I wanted it to be, like “yeah, love, burning feeling inside, we all want it, nothing special”. But after a few times I started seeing some other things. First of all, the protagonist was hurt before – “once bitten”, “I’ve lost enough”. Probably by a relatonship that didn’t work out and left an impact on her. She’s exhausted by it. She also feels the pressure of people surrounding her, she worries too much about the opinions of others. Now, she starts another romance, but… Read more »
Visuals look stunning! Katerine has commented on her song saying she views it as a big “hug” to everyone. It has a romantic but also a social message about embracing diversity! It will probably be a huge earworm. The producer of the song (Phil Cook) has worked with Ellie Goulding, Birdy, Paloma Faith, Little Mix and more. Katerine will allegedly have dancers with her onstage. Maybe an artistic contemporary choreography? Also imagine this performing right before or after Hatari (2nd part of 1st semi). Hate will prevail meets Better Love! Let’s see who wins!
Obviously, as people adored it and even with that awful staging it finished 10th in the televote.
Staging and bad vocals were the issue ( uggh those high notes )
Greece is going fierce this year!
Seems sensual, but is the song sensual too? I’ll wait until its release in 7 March 3.00 AM.
I LOVE the vibes I am getting from her and from the lyrics! Don’t know if the song will indeed be good but they are doing their job perfectly so far ( with those images and the teasers ), which is a first for Greece lol.
Feel like shes going to be my favourite act this year. Shes like she’s out of a mediaeval romantic fairytale <3
Be prepared cause this year’s greek entry is going to be one of the best…artistic, modern, classy and above all with a GREAT SONG!!!!
ok, I am not feeling the “power” in those lyrics, but I still have high hopes cuz simple songs can be great too. Please don’t let me down!!
I’m ready to put her on my top 3
I’m waiting for Greece, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Austria and Armenia, I have big expectations, will they save this year?, I hope
I heard that San Marino’s song is really good. Excited for what Serhat will offer us this time. 😀
Please please PLEASE be right. I need them in the final!
I don’t need them in the final. I need them to win. I alreasy have my Sammarinese flag prepared for 18th of May.
So do I!
One word: vulgar. I’m sorry…
LOL! There is absolute no way you can call that vulgar! Call it whatever else you want but Katerine is obviously classy
This article is about the lyrics, right? I find the lyrics vulgar, not the singer.
