The Eurovision season feels ever-slightly more real, with Belgium the first country soon to announce their artist to travel just over the border to Rotterdam in May 2020.
Belgian radio presentor and ESC commentator Peter Van De Veire announced on his morning radio show ‘De Grote Peter Van De Veire Ochtenshow that the artist will be revealed at 21.50 CET tonight.

“Tomorrow evening, we will know who will represent our country next year”. Later, broadcaster VRT made the information official.
Presentation of the Belgian candidate tonight (1st of October) at 21:50 CET
The candidate will be presented in the Belgian TV show Vandaag on channel één, a network available both in Belgium and The Netherlands – giving our Dutch friends some love. The broadcast starts at 21:50 and will be uploaded at the conclusion of the show here.
The network will also announce their artist on Facebook Live. Check out the link below at 9:50 CET.
The names that are cbeing whispered include Milow, Tamino, Nathalia, Hooverphonic, Stromae and Oscar and the Wolf.
Earlier in September, the Head of VRT’s selection team was hinting that they where talking to ‘their number one on their wishlist’. We hope that they succeeded!

However, I don’t reckon it’ll be a French-language artist, because that’s a risky thing in Belgium (language barriers and all). But both of the above artists have proven themselves, so maybe one of them might be it. 🙂

2) VRT can also choose a non-Flemish singer (e.g. : Axel Hirsoux selected by a Flemish national selection in 2014)
Just outta curiosity, why are you expecting Stromae to go for the Flemish broadcaster? As far as I know, he speaks and sings in French, so it would be much more logical for him to represent the Wallonian broadcaster.

They’re not covering JESC as much as they used to. Probably just a single wiwijury, a reaction video, and a post about the results are what we’ll get again this year.

Honestly, I have no idea which direction they’re going to go with this. Is it going to be more of the same or something completely different? Despite the results, I don’t think Belgium have been *that* far off from having a really competitive entry. Hope they don’t abandon what they’ve been doing entirely!

Stromae would surely be the biggest name of the year, and for that reason I almost hope it’s not him – that’s gonna get my expectations up too high. That said, if he were to be selected, I’d have a much easier time getting others I know into Eurovision. I know basically nothing about the others suggested, might listen a bit now but I’m thinking it’ll be wait-and-see.
Milow is my fave wirh Jasper Steverlinck on no 2. I think Nathalia is too middle of the road.
