Italy in Junior Eurovision 2019: Marta Viola “La Voce Della Terra”
The big five nation debuted in 2014 with a statement of intent. Vincenzo Cantiello took home the big prize with “Tu primo grande amore”. Since then, Italy placed on the podium once more in 2016. It’s hoping for another high ranking after scoring a top ten result last year in Minsk.
The Italian broadcaster RAI internally selected Marta Viola and “La Voce Della Terra”.
The ten-year-old lives near Turin. Unsurprisingly, she loves music, singing and dancing. At school, she studies singing, classical and modern dance and hip hop. Beyoncé is one of her inspirations.
What do the “La Voce Della Terra” lyrics mean?
“La Voce Della Terra” is about coming together to save the earth.
“My song is about our planet, our shared home, whose voice can be found in every little and big thing around us. It is about the fragility of life and our duty to protect it,” Marta tells the Junior Eurovision website.
With a booming crescendo on the chorus, Marta sings that you can hear Mother Earth’s voice for eternity. “Forever and ever/In the blue colour of calm tides/You can hear it forever and ever.”
And that it can come from everywhere, be it the smallest seeds ready to bloom in spring or the spectacular Aurora Borealis forming and lighting the northern skies.
The official music video is filled with contrasts. Marta wears colorful and youthful clothing as she walks between sleek modern buildings. They overlook the cityscape and luscious green gardens.

Italian text
C’è
In ogni cosa c’è
E parla un po’ di sé
Nel volo di una foglia
C’è
In ogni cosa è
È il mondo intorno a me
Che grande meraviglia
C’è la voce della terra
Lì nascosta
In un seme che rimane
Ad aspettare primavere
Sempre sempre
Sempre sempre
Sempre sempre
Sempre sempre
Nell’azzurro di tranquille maree
Tu puoi sentirla Sempre…sempre
e in un lampo lei può
Farsi aurora boreale
A Capo Nord
Now
The voice of the earth
Is calling for your help
In every wave of the ocean
Listen
Wake up, it’s not a dream
We can become a team
To heal and save the planet
C’è la voce della terra
Quando viene sera
Su questa grande casa
Che ha per tetto il cielo
Sempre sempre
Sempre sempre
Sempre sempre
Sempre sempre
Nell’azzurro di tranquille maree
Tu puoi sentirla sempresempre
E per sempre se vuoi
Quella voce ancora ti racconterà
Della vita e della sua fragilità
Di ogni vita che una sola voce… ha
Sempre sempre sempre
The voice of the earth
Sempre sempre sempre
The voice of the earth
English translation
You will find Her
In every single thing
telling about herself
In the flying of a leaf
You will find Her
It is every little thing
It is the world around me
What a great wonder
You will find the voice of the Earth
Hidden there
In a seed
looking forward to the spring
Forever and ever
Forever and ever
Forever and ever
Forever and ever
In the blue colour of calm tides
You can hear it forever and ever
And in a flashlight she can turn
into winter Light
at Cape North
Now
The voice of the Earth
Is calling for your help
In every wave of the ocean
Listen
Wake up, it’s not a dream
We can become a team
To heal and save the planet
You will find
The voice of the Earth
When the night falls
Over this immense home
Whose roof is the Sky
Forever and ever
Forever and ever
Forever and ever
Forever and ever
In the blue colour of peaceful tides
You can hear it forever and ever
And forever, if you want
That voice will tell you again and again
of life and its fragility;
of every single living being,
that has got only one voice.
Forever and ever
The voice of the Earth
Forever and ever
The voice of the Earth
it’s a weak entry from us, we could do much better
Russia and Italy have the problem of Spain sending a much higher-quality version of the same song.
Also, as with Wales, this suffers from sounding a bit too simple, musically.
The composition has some very good harmonies and a nice buildup in the instrumentation. But I think the melody is a bit weak comparatively.
Okay totally off the subject but I feel like my 3,5 years of Latin is finally useful now, because I understood the title without the translation
vox terrae! u could’ve understood la voix de la terre and la voz de la tierra easily too then (:
I really like this entry, but I kind of foresee a “Perta” result.
Criminally underrated by the fandom.
