The first national final of the Eurovision 2020 season is almost upon us! But before Albania chooses its representative during Sunday’s Festivali i Këngës 58 closer, there’s still the small matter of semi-finals to be dealt with.
The first of which takes place at 20:30 CET tonight — find out how to watch live here. And if our readers are to be believed, there is one overwhelming favourite — Elvana Gjata with “Me tana”.
Elvana Gjata is your favourite to win semi-final one of Festivali i Këngës 58
She was the most popular before the competing songs were released, and her popularity remains. We asked our readers to pick their favourite of the 20 FiK 58 entries, and Elvana smashed the poll.
The “Me tana” hitmaker picked up 1,436 votes out of a total of 3,222 votes cast. In percentage terms, that’s a massive 44.57%!
By default, this also means that Elvana is the favourite to win the first semi of FEST’ 58.
Coming a distant second in the poll is the up-and-coming starlet Kanita Suma with “Ankth”. She secured 220 votes.
None of the other contestants in the first semi-final managed to break into triple figures.

I missed most of the performances. Who did really well?
Elvana sounded great in her performance and even started dancing towards the end. No wonder she’s a good dancer considering she won dwts Albania a few years back! Sara’s vocals were very impressive and definately elevated the song imo. Kanita was good but her vocals were a bit overpowered by the instrumentals, I thought. Those three stood out the most for me, but Aldo was pretty enjoyable and kamila delivered a sultry performance. Overall really good quality in the first semi!

Both Elvana and Aldo seemed a bit restrained by the lack of movement for such upbeat songs. I mean, the dancers were there, but main vocals had only a bit of choreography, I guess they focused on their vocals instead and did a pretty good job.
Sara and Kamela slayed vocally! I think these four should safely qualify. Fifth qualifier could be literally anyone.

There are some drama countries like Albania, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia every year in ESC. I like Elvana to BUT im not suprised if she doesnt qualify. Its Albania so. They have done that a lot before so.

When has Albania ever had drama? Albania has one of the least controversial selections of any of them.

nice dark intro which does enhance that spiritual beginning bit, and then going full ethnic, vibrant colours, vocally it also sounds quite good

luckily juries are smart enough to not choose this for ESC and go for real music rather than a novelty joke act

i should avoid coming in here when i am stressed, i kinda hope elvana wins so i can then be more open and honest into supporting her (i am scared since most of my nf favourites flop and i don’t want her to flop so i’m sorry if i had been dishonest or rude, but i had my reasons, i do want her in our rotterdam)
