On December 22 Eurovision fans will be gifted the fifth confirmed artist of the 2020 season — and the very first song confirmed for Rotterdam — courtesy of Albania’s Festivali i Këngës 58.
But before we all shout “FiK, yeah!” it’s time to review the results of our poll, “Which Eurovision 2020 act are you most excited about so far?”
On November 30, Cyprus confirmed Sandro Nicolas as the fourth act of the year. He joined the ranks of Belgium’s Hooverphonic, Spain’s Blas Canto and Bulgaria’s VICTORIA. The four acts bring incredibly different styles that traverse gender, language and genre. We asked you to vote for the act that you’re most excited for. Well the results are in. After counting 2,149 votes, we can now reveal that the current queen of our readers is Bulgaria’s VICTORIA.
Bulgaria: Victoria 682 votes, 31.74%
Belgium: Hooverphonic 568 votes, 26.43%
Spain: Blas Cantó 458 votes, 21.31%
Cyprus: Sandro 441 votes, 20.52%
Eurovision 2020 artists: VICTORIA is getting our readers excited
VICTORIA is an alum of X Factor Bulgaria. She placed sixth in the 2015/16 edition — the same series where Kristian Kostov placed second. VICTORIA became known for her strong soul vocals, which earned her the comparison as the “Bulgarian Adele”.
VICTORIA has released a number of Bulgarian singles. Earlier this year she released her English-language single “I Wanna Know”, which has already clocked up over 700,000 views on YouTube. VICTORIA presented the video in Madrid at the Melboss Open, a music industry event.
VICTORIA will release her debut album in 2020, after Eurovision 2020. For now she’s been keeping busy dreaming up her Eurovision song and doing some charitable work.
Her Christmas cover of Billie Eilish’s “Come Out And Play” was recorded in support of organizations in Bulgaria that find homes for stray dogs and cats and to inspire more people to adopt homeless animals.
The video stars several animals who have moved from the streets into the hearts (and homes) of their human companions. They gather around a cozy scene singing an acoustic cover as people pet their furry friends. `the video ends with the written message, “Come out and save a life.”
