Victor Crone – “Troubled Waters”
“Troubled Waters” reviews
Antranig: If you were looking for more of “Storm”, you’ve got the perfect entry. However, I found “Storm” to be above average at best and “Troubled Waters” follows suit. The real gem here is Victor Crone himself — he is such a likeable individual on and off the stage and he has charisma for days. He could do extremely well for Sweden with the right song. For the time being though, direkt till final will have to suffice as the extent of his success.
Score: 6.5/10
Jonathan: “Troubled Waters” is a solid and catchy pop track. Victor connects well with the camera and, despite a couple of off-notes (that he can no doubt smooth out for the final), he delivers a confident performance. It’s not completely reinventing the wheel, but it doesn’t have to in order to be an enjoyable three minutes. Plus, being a meteorologist outside of the Eurovision bubble, I perhaps have a soft spot for weather-related lyrics.
Score: 7.5/10
Natalie: I actually do like this song. It’s powerful, heartfelt and very sweet and endearing. It certainly lights up the stage and made an impression on the semifinal. But I dunno, I still find it a bit disappointing. Maybe my expectations were a bit high, but I don’t think it’s that original. We’ve heard this male-fronted acoustic-pop combo many a time before. It doesn’t really go anywhere beyond the chorus, and it’s certainly a passionate chorus but it still isn’t anything new or different. I just want it to be more than this, I want it to have something a bit more exciting, it just feels too safe and easy right now. It probably isn’t helped that Victor’s vocals were quite off too. Sigh.
Score: 6/10
Ron: “Troubled Waters” is a very catchy song with quite a familiar sound (RIP Avicii). I really enjoy it and it’s such a feel-good song, yet there is nothing new here, both song and staging wise. Vocally Victor was on point during most of the song but towards the end there were notes that were not so pleasant. To be fair, this isn’t an easy song to sing. Victor is full of charisma and beauty and the camera loves him, so overall this is very enjoyable despite all of the issues that I’ve mentioned.
Score: 7.5/10

OMG those vocals…
My #12 tomorrow 🙂
Mendez and Paul exist ..
Where’s the vocalist? Crone stood in on last notice!!! Dear-o-me!
The song is not bad but he can’t sing.
The last thing I expected to hear from a MF song was “heartfelt”.
As Storm was one of my favorites in 2019, it should come as no surprise that I love this song as well. Victor is incredibly charming and this is so uplifting. Is it just Storm 2.0? Probably. I’d prefer if he switched the style just a bit for the sake of challenging himself, but I can’t deny I fell for it again. I would be quite happy to see him back-to-back on ESC. 🙂
It’s a decent enough song. But Victor doesn’t have the range. He is very attractive though…
Is he? :s
It’s just NF filler really. I don’t think Victor is expecting to win with it.
Yes he should withdraw and endorse Dotter
The song in itself I would probably give a 6.5/10, and the staging was also great! 🙂
However, the vocals were not good at all… During the chorus playback was used and that drags the score a bit down for me. 5/10
