When the forces of Sanja Vučić, Ksenija Knežević and Ivana Nikolić combine, you get a Hurricane! These Beograd beauties are a triple threat, serving voice, face and some killer dance moves. But, as the English version of their song “Hasta la vista” proves, they have another skill: linguistics.
The ladies have managed to take their Serbian-language song and make it pop in English. It stays true to its initial message about saying goodbye to people who don’t value you. New language, same message of empowerment.
The verses start with them confronting a partner whose done one of them wrong: “One, two, three bye bye, I don’t want to hear no lies, saw you with her, surprise!” The repetition of “here we go again, here we go again” suggests the behaviour is rather habitual and they are over it. “I don’t give a damn, I don’t give a damn.”
Rather than filming a new music video, the ladies have taken outtakes and footage from their sultry original and re-cast it. Once again we see them getting physical with twin brothers Stanko and Stanoje Budimkic. Their fierce choreography — twerks, floor dips, hair whips — all remain. After all, they work in any language!
Hurricane — “Hasta la vista” lyrics (English version)
1, 2, 3 bye bye
I don’t want to hear no lies
Saw you with her, surprise!
(here we go again, here we go again)
Won’t let you take the lead
What have you done to me?
Go and let me be
(I don’t give a damn, I don’t give a damn)
Oh you really like to call me crazy
Well, I love to hate you, but you’re still my baby
Choose a side, I won’t be a lady
Say bye bye, not gonna weep, not gonna cry
Hasta la vista baby
What you think about that?
Hasta la vista baby
Aren’t you glad?
Right here and right now
Your fate is in my hands
Choose your last words, baby sorry
Guess it won’t lead to a happy end
1,2,3 bye bye
I don’t want to hear no lies
Saw you with her, surprise!
(here we go again, oh no here we go again)
Won’t let you take the lead
What have you done to me?
Go and let me be
You should be afraid, I’m cute but psycho
Oh you really like to call me crazy
Well, I love to hate you, but you’re still my baby
Choose a side, I won’t be a lady
Say bye bye, not gonna weep, not gonna cry
Hasta la vista baby
What you think about that?
Hasta la vista baby
Aren’t you glad?
Right here and right now
Your fate is in my hands
Choose your last words, baby sorry
Guess it won’t lead to a happy end
Uhuh, such a lovely day for a last hug
You did my best, said goodbye
Be my guest
From me, to you
What else I’m gonna do
But pull the plug, but to pull the plug on you
Hasta la vista baby
What you think about that?
Hasta la vista baby
Aren’t you glad?
Right here and right now
Your fate is in my hands
Choose your last words, baby sorry
Guess it’s not gonna be a happy end
The last line of the chorus is not
Guess it’s not gonna be a happy end. That line sounds like it’s still in Serbian
Wow these girls slay!
Are those lyrics correct? I’m hearing “Gas pedal is on the M.A.X.” for the last line of the chorus. :))
This version doesn’t hit as hard as the Serbian one but still good.
I wonder whether “I don’t want to hear no lies” is correct. I’d say “I don’t want to hear any lies” or “I want to hear no lies” but maybe I’m wrong. Help. 🙂
Really hope they come back in 2021!
Both versions are damn good!
Sanja is soo pretty on the pic!
Btw they do have a skill in linguistics – Sanja is a full time student of Arabic language and literature ! 😉 😀
Ooh, Arabic version please!
